Threnal West excavation part 2

Hey, posting this thread to bring some attention to Threnal excavation Part 2 west.
This is the one where to have to guide the dwarf back to entrance.

I cleared to the dwarf and had the rest of the group clear back, but when i talk to the dwarf and commanded to follow, it would take a few steps forwards and stop and wait. for extended periods of time. and wouldn't move, no matter the distance from him. it normally takes about 2-3 minutes to guide the dwarf back.. this time it took 5-10 because the dwarf wouldn't follow properly.

And just today, When guiding the dwarf back, it got to the big square room near the shrine and just as it was leaving to go up a circle kept popping above its head (the kind when you pull a red name too far from spawn point and then it warps back to it) and it would warp back to the spawn point making the quest impossible to complete and thus impossible to progress the chain.

Sounds like a bug report is required, probably with screen shots showing /loc to give time and server you were on. Can't do a lot with the information you've provided, imo.

Did you rerun the quest? Was all well on the 2nd run if you did?

In recent months, I've seen Arlos in waterworks be a total pain and eventually reset back to his original start like that. Same with that dwarf in Threnal. And other escorts do wonky stuff. Escorts have always been annoying, but since last fall when various pathing issues/whatever came into play, they've become so much worse.

Did what goes up other day and choose backstage pass.

Spent half the quest waiting for our dear friend to follow properly (if you go too far ahead of him mobs can aggro)

Similar bugs are cropping up in other areas.
I think they're mostly related to the pathing bugs that are affecting the entire game.
I've had issues with lots of NPCs that need to follow. Luckily, I've found that giving them 30-45 seconds of just sitting there will usually let them catch up, but I've had a couple instances where it didn't work.
I know it's frequent enough in Outbreak, that'll I go afk because it'll freeze for a solid 60 seconds like clockwork while the game tries to figure out who is turning to werewolves and who isn't.

I can verify I've seen this on Gallanda. But the real kicker for me recently was with Sleeping with the Fishes. First time I did the optional I spent several minutes going back and forth between the Kobold leader and the Sahuagin leaders to try to get them to talk to each other. Finally after multiple stop and starts from both of them I finally got them to meet in the middle of the map. Interestingly when I ran it again another time ( if I wasn't a glutton for punishment I probably wouldn't be playing DDO ) I didn't have the problem and one followed all the way to the others lair.

Following and even normal movement is seriously broken and has been for a month or two now. IMHO, they made some kind of change to reduce pathing load and broke pathing in general.

They made some allusions to fixing it in the 73.4 notes on Lammania, which sound like they're due to hit live soon, since they're already on to u74 over on Lam.

Yeah, this is not quest specific, sometimes npc leashes/rubberbands like an enemy. Reset the instance, or better yet, avoid long escort quests.

This should be fixed ASAP, since Threnal together with Delears is the ONLY source of the master's gift augment. (there should be more sources for that but that's another topic)

Yes, Arlos used to keep to you and follow closely while going back to the entrance to finish. Now, he diddles around and lags behind like a regular hireling does. Something has definately changed in the code.

Yes this happened to me a few weeks ago while running the quest OP mentions

Had to restart

I dont tend to run Threnal much though nowadays unless im making a new Masters Gift

I had "fun" in East part 2 myself a little while ago, took forever to get Coyle to move, inch by inch, down to the door... just when I thought I couldn't hate him any more than I already did, they made him even worse.

Had the same thing happen in Threnal west part two, the dwarf kept rubber banding to his starting position once he entered the large square room before the spiral up. The quest and therefore the threnal chain is broken, but hey atleast mornyngstar will now get the threnal revamp wanted that will likely destroy the originality of this chain.

Based of the troubling AI pathing that also exists with the kobolds in the cannith challenges, it is likly we will never see crystal cove again as well.

Sad days.

Same thing happened to me. I just resigned to the fact that I'll never get another masters gift.
