Transfer Guidance for our upcoming 64-bit server transfers

Maybe it's been answered before, but damn if I can find it....

If I have characters I created when VIP that are now "greyed out" at character selection (because I no longer own the race, for example), how can I pack them? Will I have to pay for a month of VIP to access them for packing?
If those characters are only greyed out for lack of character slots, then once you begin transferring your other characters, you should free up character slots on your Origin server, and would have slots free to re-activate them again for the pack/transfer/unpack process, hopefully the 10 free character slots on the new server will accommodate them and allow you to play them again. Not an exact answer to your question but may help others.

I dont want to sound greedy but what about crafting storage part of the shared bank? Mines always full even with the max 2045 slots in it

Does it need to be? Or if you had 15,000 slots you would just find a way to have 15,000 things in there?

I have 0 and find no issue with playing the game.

At some point it is up to the players to police themselves not just demand more.

What your playing needs have to do with how others play?
It is like new player (I am not saying you are, this is just analogy) saying to veterans "I keep playing on normal and enjoy no challenge, so others can be happy that way too" or other similar states.

Some people play on lower difficulty (normal/hard/elite/r1) and do not care about additional resources, others have opposite needs with maxing their multiple active characters to fit higher.
Some people play occasionally or are new or rely on large group that just do most things for them, others are more engaged, challenge themselves on higher reaper solo/raid, spent a lot of time for years with collecting many things in order to fit with their multiple active alts and new character ideas.
Some people use crafting a lot for custom sets or to fill gaps, others just grind named items or use what they found in random.
Some people store all augments to use in future for custom sets (so they do not need to pay with astral shards), others...

So yes, some people have 0 use of shared crafting storage (crafting collectables, augments for multiple levels, numerous various ingredients that increase with new content), others have opposite needs with their multiple active characters and collected things for maxed custom sets and upgrades to fit higher solo/raid difficulties.
Sure, there are bags, but logging each time between characters (plus random wait lag) to search and exchange single things starts to be annoying in longer term.

I am not saying we should get extra free shared crafting storage.
There are just many factors how people play, so your 0 need for something have nothing to do with others.

Has anyone tested that this works? Or has SSG confirmed it? I don't want to use the code before getting the base shared bank on my alt F2P account if that doesn't work and locks me out of using the code once I have unlocked it.
the following entry in the list of products that you own, returned by the login server :

My question was whether people actually need the 2,500 storage space or if SSG opened it up to 15,000 spaces they would just fill that too.

I dont think its on SSG to pander to the addictions of players.

Well, can we say that a healthier (for the game) monetization for feeding addition is to sell more space to hoarders to store stuff rather than drastically reducing drop rates and selling loot ransack resets?

I could understand the need for more storage if what was being stored was worth being stored. Do you need 8 piles of 500 prayer beads? No. You don't. Do you need 3 stacks of the same common filigree for a set that you've never used? No. You don't. How about those 15 stacks of deprecated khyber dragonshard fragments? No, don't need those either.

It's one thing to have something just in case. It's another to have 50 of the same thing just in case you need one.

My landlord convinced me to come back to the game and said it was urgent to transfer my characters off the old servers onto some new servers that are coming, he said i could transfer for free. It is just one character i can transfer or is it all of them?

Also he said i should take advantage of some bank space code, does anyone know where i can find the listing for codes?

SSG has confirmed it:
You can redeem the code for additional Shared Bank space even if you do not yet have access to the Shared Bank feature. When you do get access to the Shared Bank feature, either by being VIP or by purchasing access with DDO Points in the DDO Store, those additional bank slots will be available to you.

Let's say a willingness by some to pay more points to not have to ever look at the prayer beads, while knowing that whatever is wanted for crafting is there. While anyone who is willing to look through can make do with a lot less storage.

I personally make do with what I have, Khyber shards are deprecated? Darn I worked hard at my first life to get those. I think I needed them for a spell?

I only keep 1k of Prayer Beads because that is what fits in the collectables bag. All my filigrees are in Dimensional bags so stacking is not an issue. As to the "15 Stacks of deprecated Khyber Dragonshard Fragments", guilty I have 25+ stacks along with stacks of tiny and large? that I haven't cleared out yet.

You forgot to mention Melted Chocolate and Rusty Keys! (guilty but working on it)

Also the bag that holds all my Winter Recipes and motes, takes up 1 slot!

Wait more deprecated materials?
Winter recipes? Chocolate? I need to get rid those ones too?
Really? Darn.

Sorry if this has already been answered and I missed it. But has it been confirm that transferring multiple shared banks from multiple servers works OK. I suffer from a lack of focus and have active characters on most of the existing servers ;-)

Okay, I know I am one of a very small number that have purchased and filled alomst all the character slots. I have 56 character slots per server (and 53 filled on each of the 8 32-bit servers). I have also already filled 25 character slots on Corymr. So at one shy of 450 characters (none of which are mules). The 10 additional slots on each of the 4 64-bit servers will leave me 264 character slots.

So I will need to retire roughly 200 (if I leave space for a few empty character slots). I am looking for advice on how to best choose. Obviously I will keep those with past lives (which is only 10 characters), there are some that are essentially the same class/race/levels (just different enhancement tree spending) that I could retire probably around 60 characters.

But what else should I use for consideration when putting characters out to pasture?
