Trapper-tank with 120 con and 9000 HP for Hardcore!

Hello everyone, now that I'm done with Hardcore Season VIII and have had time to properly test this build, I'd like to share with you:

~ The Chonky Primal Trapper ~

A word of warning: this build is NOT intended to be a solo build. You will very much want at least one or two damage dealers with you in the party, but you can fill all the other roles – trapping, tanking and a little off-healing! Leveling on elite in heroics your melee capabilities will be decent enough to get you through quests. This build starts to properly take off after hitting level 9, and keeps getting better until you hit 32. You'll be able to stroll through any traps you encounter without flinching, even if you don't have Evasion, thanks to Dark Hunter.

In heroics, at level 18, you can expect these kind of numbers while trapping: (Combat): You make a Disable Device skill check. You roll a 17 (+95): critical success!
You'll also have somewhere around ~1300 HP, which will be decent enough for any raids or harder content of the level.

At cap your self-buffed constitution in reaper can go up to 120 (though usually sittinng around 110). I also had ~4,5k HP standing outside reaper, and ~5,4k HP buffed in reaper. On top of that you also get 3500 Temporary HP that you can replenish often! Doing R4's at cap, you can charge into any group to take aggro, and the healer will not even see you health bar move an inch! You'll practically be fully self-sustained while questing.

This build is primarily made to conquer R4's at cap, secondly as a super safe if a tad slow leveler. You'll also be able to tank lower difficulty legendary raids, even if some more traditional paladin/fighter tanks will be better suited for that purpose. But this build is backed up by the fact that it took me to 7231 favor and 550k RXP, so if you're looking for some new inspiration go on and give it a go next season! ?

(Paid features in the build: Vistani Knife Fighter, 32-point build, +5 Con tome, +2 Int tome – though all of these can be earned through favor.)

Animal Growth is a bit short, but I tend to keep it up. Enhanced Blood rage procs regularly enough that it's basically constantly applied. Rising fury is the only one that's a bit harder to keep at full stacks, especially if you have a competent party. ?

I've never played any of those classes so I don't know much about them at all, but the build looks interesting. I'm a casual player who hardly does reaper at all, and I understand some of what you did, but a few things I don't:
What makes Vistani worth the points if you are not using daggers?
This has no strong physical ranged attacks, right?
You get a Dark Wolf companion and Druids also get a regular wolf, so you could summon either one? Is Dark Wolf better?
Do you keep a wolf summoned normally?
If you didn't own Vistani, how would you change this?

Vistani Knife Juggler: You gain +5% to attack speed with throwing daggers. You gain the benefit of the Deflect Arrows feat, knocking aside one incoming projectile that would have struck you every 6 seconds.

The deflect arrows can be increased to every 2 seconds with Tempest tree Improved Defense: Your Shield of Whirling Steel Grants +1/2/3 additional Armor Class, Physical Resistance, and Magical Resistance. If you possess Deflect Arrows it can trigger once every 4/3/2 seconds.

Both the Wolf companions are useless because they are only as strong as their level. Even at full level they dont usually survive in Reaper 4. The Dark Wolf is the strongest if you invest in the Dark Hunter tree for Wolf buffs.

The Vistani tree is available for purchase in the DDO store for 495 DP. It can also be unlocked on a per character basis by achieving 180 Ravenloft Favor (Collecting Keepers of the Feather).

You could probably get 2 more Con in if you took the Beasthide Shifter. You get -1 on Racial Con, they get +2 Dex and only +1 Con, but T1 in it's Racial tree is a carbon copy of Hardy Rage for +3 while Raged. You'd just need to move 2 points around and lose the 5th Racial core. Or have 2 extra Racial AP. Or people who have currently got +2 Tome Racial AP + +2 Tome Universal Tree AP could do it.

You'd lose 30 HP from the 3 Dwarf Toughnesses, and gain +2 Con. Technically an improvement at level 32 of 2 HP lol. Up to you if its worth it I guess.

Coffey did a good job of answering most of these!

I can still clarify that the major reason for Vistani is to get Deflect Arrows, which this build doesn't get anywhere else – this in turn allows you to utilise the 1 arrow / 2 seconds deflection from T1 Tempest, which is great!

And nope you don't have any strong ranged attacks (not any *strong* melee attacks either, to be honest. That's why you have party members. ?)

I tried to use wolf when leveling on Hardcore, but even on elite – especially with the split between druid and ranger – it just dies far too fast to be bothered with. Can be occasionally used to pull levers though, which is quite handy!

If you don't have access to the Vistani tree, I would heartily recommend that you get it! If you have access to Ravenloft, you can very easily get it by doing the quests while leveling, and you won't be spending points in the tree before high heroic levels anyway. Or you can do as Coffey suggested and just buy it from the store – quite cheap especially when it's on sale!

Sure yeah, there's probably a bunch of things you could do to get slight improvements if you reeaally want to min/max everything out of it! :)
Dwarves – in addition to being a F2P race – also get some minor benefits like +2 to Search, which can be very helpful getting through all the trap infested lower level quests on Hardcore!

Keep in mind, that the builds primary intent is to be an easily accessible low-life build, mostly meant for thriving on the Hardcore server. If you have half-a-dozen extra Racial AP laying around, I would warmly recommend to get a different build. ?

Justifications: You don't really need that high an Open Lock. Heal is good for Positive Spell Power. Spot is good not just for spotting traps, but spotting enemies, both offensively and defensively. The extra UMD should allow you to hit the nofail scroll casting breakpoints for Level 9 spells (35) and Level 10 spells (39). That's most notably: Raise Dead, Teleport, Waves of Fatigue, Heal, Reconstruct, Greater Heroism, TrueSeeing, Heroes Feast, and a few others......
