Trouble playing?

Just took 2 minutes to tp to ES then could not move. Could not get on ship on first toon and gave up.

Ok, so it wasn't just my connection then.

DDO is still trying to get everything moved. No biggie. I can wait.

I looked yesterday and was missing all my Vistani tailsmen and totems. Then today, magically, *some* were there. Nothing close to the couple hundred I had ... but they will probably show up once all this is over.

Does anyone know if the other servers are experiencing this jerky/laggy situation as well?

Thrane seems to be where most people are moving to, so the lag is to be expected there. I wonder how bad it is over on Cormyr?

After moving my guild and all my toons to Thrane I just rolled a new toon on argo just so I can play the game. I almost feel like I am starting over :)

I have some alts left on Cannith that I intend to move to one of my friends' guilds once they figure out where and when. I may have to go run one of those to satisfy this itch ... lol

Yes, I gave up playing on Thrane on Sunday. I decided to give it a week or so until the transfers have settled down at least.
It´s perfectly fine on Moonsea though.

Tyrs and our alliance are reporting lag on some quests and not bad on others. In a few days we'll learn if things get better. WE expect them to get much better.

For example, my 1st transfer took 12 hours. 2 days ago it took 5 minutes. Yesterday it was INSTANT.

Armed with 64 bit servers, now SSG has real tools and capabilities at their disposal to fight lag.

1. 32 bit servers have 4 GB of RAM which causes bottlenecks that affect our game play. But these 64 bit servers should have Terabytes of RAM letting the game load faster, and play faster/smoother without frequent caching. This reduces stuttering, especially in high population areas in the game or in raids.

2. Better multitasking.

3. Modern diagnostic and profiling tools that work better in 64 bit environments. This helps SSG devs pinpoint areas of lag better than in 32 bit architecture.

Lag will not disappear overnight, or even in a week, but SSG devs have just been handed a whole new shiny massive toolbox to address the DDO lag monsters.

Well i know Cormyr had issue yesterday as well as both servers were emegency shutdown and a patch issued when brought back up. Was better in that you could still lag but was shorter duration. Will see how tonight goes.

I will say its interesting to talk in our general discord guild channel and hearing others in other areas of the server having / not having issues while being in another part and having / not having lag issues.

It's very instance specific. Been doing a TR with 6 accounts and sometimes all the characters in a quest will be totally locked up, but the one waiting outside was totally fine. And if you recall (often difficult) and reset the instance the new one will generally be fine. Of course, this is a bit annoying especially if it's a longer quest and you lock up near the end.

I would not run xp pots at the moment, that's for sure.

I am working so hard to overcome my hoarding ways, does anyone think SSG might buy back some of the pack and bank space I have purchase over the years at a reasonably reduced rate?

Also I am usually optimistic, however I have been in groups recently where people complained about the crippling lag and just quit in the middle of a quest. Very disappointing and makes me not want to play. I get it that is as bad as I have ever seen with maybe one or two exceptions over the years. Does SSG know what is causing the issues? If so, can you elaborate on it some and maybe give a close approximation as to when you all believe we will see some progress?

Our group has noticed that some portals around the world take forever to react or don't work at all and if you run into one of the other houses its almost an instant transport to the ship or where ever it is you are trying to get to.

I will say, so far we have experienced most of the lag in the public areas and the ship. for example just the other night we decided to do raids and in many cases it took the group more time to get to the raid in whatever area it was in than it took to run the raid. Of the 9 raids we ran only one had some issues all the others ran fairly nicely with a few minor glitches with short lag periods.

I noticed last night we ran a quest a few times looking for a couple of items and the first passes always went smooth once we got to the quest, but successive runs the lag got worse and worse. By the 3rd pass through the quest it was nearly unplayable, not sure if that is problematic or if something is going on there.
