U67 New Loot

Frankly, I'm just amazed that a free adventure pack has loot with set bonuses. Does this mean they finally understand that loot without set bonuses is most likely to be ignored?
Unless it's level 32 loot, in which case you can slot set augments on it.

That melee set looks really interesting. As a maul enthusiast it's cool to see them make a 4 piece maul set. I am intrigued. But also a bit confused. Hopefully there's a heavy armor somewhere yet to be found so the 4 piece set would be usable by maul clerics and maul paladins. If not that 4 piece set is specifically aimed to be for Silvanus Favored Soul maul builds I guess. Which I suppose is fine, just super super niche. Don't think I've ever seen a maul favored soul running around on Thelanis. I guess maybe now there's more reason to. Then again maybe there's pieces in other slots not yet having been found, if that's the case it's not really a maul build specific 4 piece set.
Any reason to not do Medium Armor Pally? No Heavy Armor feats, Medium qualifies for Sacred Defender improved stance stuff, and you're not using a tower shield (which would cap your Dodge regardless of armor). The Dodge is huge, way better than 1/2 BAB in PRR, at least IMO?

I mean light armor Pally is also pretty good, assuming you just skip the SaD stuff, but why would you wear plate on a Pally?

Isn't it only temporarily free? It's going to be ddostore pack after the event.

Yeah Medium is the better armor for everyone except Fighters who take the Heavy Armor feat line. The little extra PRR and AC from Heavy does not make up for the lost Dodge from the lower MDB.

The helmet looks intriguing, having armor pierce, qual acc and qual deadly on a single helmet slot. The qual acc +5 especially. I don't think that has ever been on a helmet slot, correct me if I'm wrong.

Disappointed to see they just reused the shipbreaker's maul cosmetic look onto that new maul. I'm always looking for some cool maul cosmetics to glamour, there are so few interesting looks. Especially with so many cool looking cosmetics on these new items I wish they could have taken the time to do something with the maul.

Also hope the new maul appearing here doesn't mean we don't get a new raid maul in the myth drannor expansion. Still waiting on a new raid maul...last one was Old Baba's Hut, going on 7 years ago now, if we don't count Dino Bone stuff.
I got a feeling Myth Drannor's weapons and gear are going to be out-of-this-world powerful. It's going to be the next logical step-up from IoD.

They'll be exactly 2 levels higher than the current gear; SSG went thru the effort of fixing the gear curve so it'll go to 40 correctly with the stat squish, there's zero reason for them to break that.

but what if they add double LGS debuff or some new fangled "Rando Crit" where the crit multipliers are now a range between 1x to 7x or whatever they can come up with.

Imagine if you will if they nerf the LGS Debuff prior to Myth Drannor releasing... hmm. Would they do that?

And maybe Steelstar will quit coffee and start only drinking tea, but I'm not taking any bets on anything that wild ever happening in my lifetime. Assume that it'll be typically slightly better gear than what we currently use. Worth using but nothing leaps beyond the current; just the expected progression of it being 2 levels higher. Steel's been pretty consistent in gear design lately; even the latest stuff from the pack release today is pretty solid for the types of quests they are.

Sure you can, but cleric and pally are both classes that get heavy armor proficiency and traditionally use heavy armor so it's I find it odd from a design perspective which is what I was getting at.

It wasn't even that strong, that's the funny part. We're passed the amount of spell power you can get in the game from back in those days.
