U71: multi life swash lord (with kukri)

hey there, here is my latest build that I am currently playing on my main on orien. it is a 16 dragonlord, 3 bard, 1 rouge. now I'll get into the explanation
Key Features
  • Great defense for both soloing and group play (~270prr, 100 mrr, 30% dodge, displacement, lots of hp)
  • good threat reduction (kinda, more on that later)
  • good dps for normal scenarios (r1-4 raids, r10s, mid-high reaper solos, etc. I wouldn't take this into push raids but that's just most melees)
  • amazing CC (dragons roar, guard breaking + Chainz)
  • very high AC for a dps (I hit ~300 self buffed, with party member buffs/mage armor you can hit 350+)
  • amazing aoe with quick cutter, Chainz, and rapid slash
  • total breeze for leveling
  • good heals with fotw heals and second wind
  • can solo some legendary raids like dryad, MA, and others
Pros
  • all of the above, plus...
  • works with less EDP, just cut from shadowdancer
  • gearset is very flexible, many ways to do it with less raid gear
  • doesn't need double gem
  • many easy peices to farm curses (epic gomf is there to farm curses you want, I am currently still doing that)
  • curses are completely optonal, I just put in the few that I knew I had
  • starts at levels 15 since it is an iconic
  • great for soloing mid-highish reaper as a melee
  • is very easy to play
  • doesn't have animation issues (that's why I TRed off the EK)
Cons
  • is not a razorclaw
  • is not one of the top 3 dps builds in the game, therefore some people will view it as useless
  • is not an inquisitive or repeater
  • struggles in situations with massive magical damage (when I say 'massive' I mean more than r1...)
  • cannot tank very well with this setup, maybe could with another
  • is not ftp as it needs both sdk and dragonlord (and VKF)
  • requires racial comp to get double chains which is huge
  • the provided gearset might be my worst one yet, depends how bad you find rare items and raid gear
  • skills for leveling are bricked, you have trouble taking all the trapping skills and you cant take anything else
  • requires cool cosmetics to play
Why This Split?
short answer, I really like shadarkai and kukris. here's the long answer
16 dragonlord gets all the DL goodies such as the MP aura (needs 16), all the tactics feats, dragonlord t5/core 4, and many bonus feats. 3 bard gets swashbuckling (more on that later), swf with bucklers (more on that later), and skaldic rage (more on that later). rouge is for 2 reasons: A, its the first level of sdk. B, it gets trapping. an optimized dps version of this build would be 1 warlock instead of rouge for the aura/AW process, but I did not have a spare +1 heart for that.
Swashbuckling - Its Now Later (And Other Bard Stuff)
I do not take credit for this build. while I was one of the first people to play swash Lord when DL released, I did a handaxe version of it. handaxes are special because swashbuckling gives them 15-20 range but no bonus to crit multi. with DL t5, you can get +2 multi for 15-20 5x which is a lot of damage. However, this build uses kukri which doesn't get the 5x multi, it only gets 4x. in addition, swashbuckler doesn't give any benefits to kukris with this build, or so it seems. The reason I chose kukris is because I have an undying age kukri... but there are many advantages to kukris over handaxes that are real reasons. First, kukris gets access to VKF, so you get the sweet 20% DS, the massive prr/mrr/defenses in the mist stalker line, and extra hit/damage, the doublestrike, the extra W, the 20 MP, the usual kukri goodies. I am unsure if all this makes kukris better than handaxe, but I do know that I would not be perma DS capped in handaxes while I am with kukris (with rapid slash). I wanted my build to use VKF because VKF is so good for a universal tree and its amazing for soloing. my defenses are very good and my dps is solid. Now, if swashbuckling doesn't give anything to kukris, why bother? well it does. while minor, it gives 1 enhancement bonus and 1% DS while swashbuckling. every core also gives +1 MDB so taking extra cores in swashbuckler is a good idea for dodge and ac. the real reason I am in swashbuckler is it allows you to use bucklers and still maintain swf. this is huge as it allows me to get guard breaking and extra stats/defense.
The buckler I am using in this build is the golden age buckler. this is not a mandatory item, I am using it because I have it and its the best buckler to use. I am using it because of the AC bonus (which matters for this build) and guard breaking. the other stats are nice to. if you don't have one or don't want to farm it, any buckler with guard breaking will do, just remember not to overlap stats.
Skaldic rage seems like a strange choice given its a rage that should lock me out of the strength trance. however, only true rages (shifter, bear, barb) lock you out of the strength trance, so skaldic rage is safe to use, giving a free +4 strength. In addition, skaldic rage process the fotw heal on rage use for some reason (not sure why). it does not give +str from raging str effects or items, nor does it proc blood feast. I have no clue why it heals but not the other stuff, so I'm just gonna roll with it and move on.
Threat Generation - An issue?
On paper, the build looks capable of stealing aggro very easily. it only has -50% threat gen. this sounds like an issue, but it really isn't. this build takes improved feint which has 3 uses. 1: enable sneak attack on all monsters in an aoe. B: give -40% threat reduction most of the time (it gives a buff if you make the check). C: if you have aggro, it turns the monster to face away from you. This ability is very strong if you have enough bluff (which this build does, it gets over 100 with buffs) as it sheds aggro, promotes extra damage, and turns monsters. its basically the perfect solution for builds with aggro problems. highly recommend on any build with bluff and the ability to take the feat.
Build Variations
This build has a couple main variations I can see, so I will explain them both.
1. Use a handaxe instead of a kukris. obvious benefits, as explained above, are more crit multi and the ability to spend points in ravager. ravager gives good defense and powerful attacks, so it is a good alternative to VKF. giving up VKF is rouge in my opinion, but others might see it as worth it
2. 12 DL 5 rouge 3 bard. taking 5 rouge has a couple changes, the most important being the loss of the MP (lvl 16) aura. you also bonus feat, but in return you gain evasion in heroics, much better skill distribution, more sneak dice, and the uncanny dodge feat. is this worth it? unsure, but it definitely is an option as it seems strong. I opted for 16 DL as I wanted the aura, but the 5 rouge variant is probably just as good.
Other Stats
boosted MP in reaper: ~430 and I'm missing many mythic/reaper items and the 5 MP curse
DS: 105% w/ rapid slash
dragons roar DC in reaper buffed: 128
boosted str in reaper (no +6 str curse): 98 (100 with rem pot)

I'd also consider taking Shield Speciality feat at 31+ instead of taking the full shield feat line in preepics, and grab wf, ws, gws instead for +6 mp and +4 dmg.

I'd consider taking spring attack or wwa over nimble fingers, even if its 1d6 sneak in epics.

No patience on swf kukri: do you find the attack speed loss that detrimental? I'd highly consider taking especially with so many threat increasing attacks. It's a lot of damage.

Builds like this are super fun to play, good on ya for posting yours.

dont need wwa, have enough aoe
didnt want spring attack as it might share a cooldown with flight of kings (unsure, so playing it safe)
as for the other feats, yeah you could do that and that would probably make more sense but its too late now

Shadarkai flies around with flight + shadarkai leap + spring attack, it is an excellent farmer / kiter / "lives after a group wipe" and can separate reapers extremely well from packs on r10 even w/o bluff. 3 sec cd between skai + flight of kings, no shared cd between spring and the other two, and flight of kings + skai leap both work while mounted so also a stellar md slayer farmer

And yeah, I also don't take WWA for cap but like it while leveling

I finishing up my last few classes I need for completionist. (I already got racial completionist and got all epic past lives so I have access to max racial points/epic point). I was thinking of using the 12 DL 5 rouge 3 bard version to get a Shadarkai iconic and Bard past life. I got a +5 heart that been bound to my main for years I plan to use before taking the iconic rez.

I probably drop the shield feats to make up for lost of 2 fighter feats and replace Titan's Blood with Shield specialization. I either fit in the 10% aug to make up for it or lose the 5% hp.

would you keep the enhancements etc mostly the same for the 12 DL/5 rouge/3 bard version? Anything else I need to consider with the 12 DL/5 rouge/3 bard version other then making sure level up order allow me to fit in feats with BAB requirements. I think level 5 of rouge don't give a BAB increase so only losing one BAB.
