U72 Melee bard for R10

Hobgoblin

Less Nerfy Nerfy more fixy fixy
I'm looking at this hard. I have a silly first life bard that I'm thinking of turning into this. is it possible or does it really really leverage all of the past lives?

It should do fine, you'll have to drop a few points here and there (mostly racials, but make sure you get the +cha to hit/dmg/tactics, which is around 3 pts to get). I think if you drop the 7 kensei and a bunch of the racial stuff it should perform quite well on a first lifer, since on a mega-completionist the DC's reach into the absurd territory (hard speccing I think I hit ~ 177).

Swf is nice because it isn't reliant on skill points and bard gets more than enough to cover the important skills (umd, perform, balance)

though it kinda seems like that the whole point of the build...
it should be fine, albeit at a lower power level. If I did my work properly the build should be able to hold up without the extra tactics/for cormyr (at 100 Cha its only a loss of ~15, but I was able to hit 130+ without trying). The build should still be capable of r10, though slightly less optimal

Ice should still have a solid DC and crusade should land on many targets

It's exactly what Ying said, thank you for catching, it should be fixed now.
It is fixed! I'm reading the doc as how I imagine some of my guildies will read it. I'd probably add your spell list and preferred filigree sets. It gives more insight into the build. (ex. I could see Prowess working for this build since you have both VKF haste boost and Human Action Boost. I could also see a Sanctified Fervor/Reverb set working for you.) Also, you might want to add some gearsets that don't have raid loot, or annoyingly rare MD loot. I have a feeling that a Sora Kell set might live very comfortably filling that spot.

ugh realized that char is human - so i miss for corymr

should be ok i guess from fdi?
I think the best places to pull some AP from would be Kensai or VKF. You'll need 3 AP into FDI for CHA to hit, 2 more AP into Swashbuckler for CHA to Damage. Kensai has Haste boost. You could potentially pick up "You've Got My Back" and use some Epic Sapphire Studded Buckles and a Legendary Cranium Orb for the PRR/MRR buff. And Deflect Arrows is in Swashbuckler as well.

Which augments do you slot in the weapon and buckler? For dino setup, I'm thinking:

Weapon: Deconstructor, Feareater
Buckler: Resonance 153, Devotion 153

Good is covered by Divine Crusader, and Silver covered by the dino augment. So basic DR breaking is covered.

Since PDK doesn't provide hit/dmg with the buckler, I'm less concerned about the base damage. Since it's more about procing SA/imbue/DC dice, seems like a good place for utility augs. The Resonance is there simply to boost the Swashbuckler imbue.
I'd consider the Eye of Shavarath for shaken to let everyone benefit from the +3 from fury and to apply that -2 saves; it is a *highly* underrated aug imo.

This build has been one of my all time-favorites for r10s. It has good dps (not top tier but it's competitive with non-meta), good cc, is tankier than many melees (uncanny dodge+good prr), and can off-heal. It's also a bard, so you have some party buffs for everyone.

I recently touched it up to modern gearing and wanted to share. I'll try to maintain the google doc as best I can.

Any questions about why I made the choices I did I'll be happy to explain here or on discord (Serenistelf#4027)
Hello great work, new to the game here , what free race would you recommend instead the one you have ?

Honestly it can probably work well with most of them. you'll give up the extra tactics but that isn't too huge.

I think human because of the extra feat+ skill points is nice, works well without tomes. Since you wont spend any AP in the racial tree, this one gets the most out of the base race.

thanks ! I ended up rolling a tie tiefling instead just for the extra charisma . probably I will try this build although with some tweaks , cheers

I believe Ying posted a good first life build as well if you wanted to take ideas from that Here
thanks ! Yes I found a couple more builds with a similar idea and building something close enough with the resources I have. i started with 2 levels of bard and probably get the fighter level next ! enjoy your day
