Performance Update Preview

We've made some adjustments to improve game performance with this preview. Like many of our performance changes, these changes touch deep inner workings of the game. Try a couple existing DDO dungeons that you know quite well, and if you experience any unusual behavior during your dungeon gameplay, let us know here.

Introducing Adventure Pass

Learn more about a new DDO Store item here. If you bought Adventure Pass during Preview 1, let us know if you experience any problems entering any of the above 4 quests in Preview 2.

Other changes
  • Fixed some display issues with the Black Rose supporter pack helm cosmetic for Dragonborn and Elves.
  • Fixed an issue where part of the special effects on the Echoes of the Black Rose supporter pack mace weren't displaying.
  • Den of Viper's Raid:
    • The Teleport Blocker effect Domain of Dread will now remove itself on players who exit the quest by recall or lost connection.
    • Fix the rather unfortunate pit located against the north wall outside the temple.
    • There is now an exit waypoint at the beginning.
    • The shadow demons no longer have empty titles.
    • Made adjustments to the logic of the Hydra Head and Circle mechanics so it will not get stuck.
    • Hydra heads that drop after they've already had their spirits sealed in the circle will fade quickly with action text feedback and cause the boss to burn it's stump.
    • Hydra no longer drop more than one head at a time to prevent logic breaking when massive dps is applied. The hydra's regeneration will keep it hit points above the next head thresehold until you resolve the current head.
  • Thieves tools in the DDO Store should now be visible for classes other than rogue.
  • VFX Cosmetics such as wings, eyes will no longer appear when in rat form.
  • Frogo's hat will no longer float over him if he's in ratform.
  • Quest: Kind of Big Deal - Adjusted Height of 2nd Trap Box.
  • Endless Fusillade is now spelled correctly in all places it is referenced. Two Ls, not one!
  • In the quest 'The Evil We Know', the portal leading into the Chamber of the Shadow now properly teleports you into the Chamber of the Shadow.
  • Fixed a typo in the dialog of the Year of the Dragon claim NPC.
  • Tweak to fire beetles to not use fireball until epic unless they are oversized.
  • Fixed a graphical issue in the Character creation flow with some buttons being partially cut off.
  • Quest Best Laid Plans - Several changes have been made to the quest for performance and in response to feedback:
    • Reduced Number of Breakables, and reduced Required number of breakables, for performance reasons
    • Reduced Number of Tacticians in several waves
    • Slowed Speed of Constructs
    • Reduced Number of Monsters in certain wave encounters.
    • Updated Monster Count for Conquest Bonus to account for the above changes in Monsters in combat waves.
  • It will no longer be possible to use XP stones on the Heart of Wind (the airship you start on as a new character). This is to prevent confusion with using xp stones before you speak with the NPC during veteran status. The stones will operate normally once you leave the Heart of Wind.
  • The Patron Coffer NPC is now able to talk with more than one person at once.
  • The Optional chests in Threats Old and New and Den of Vipers now drop ingredients 100% of the time.
  • Dragon Disciple
    • Clear Your Mind Rank 2 and 3 can now be taken properly.
    • Draconic Conviction and Might in Order Rank 2 and 3 can now be taken properly.
  • Fixed keymapping for HENCHMAN_BAR5_KEY5. If you have keybindings set for "Hierling Bar 5, Slot 4" or "Hierling Bar 5, Slot 4" please double check your Key Mappings in the Options panel.
Changes From Preview 1

- Epic Crisis Armors are now properly named "Epic" instead of "Legendary"
- Crisis light, medium, and heavy armors are now made of Scale.
- Crisis Mail now properly displays its appearance
- Heroic Helm of Workplace Safety now has its correct stat values
- Wood, Darkwood, and Densewood items have been adjusted to take less item damage.
- Epic Crisis Claw now has correct values for its effects.
- Storm Signet's Quality Deception has been replaced by its intended effect, Electric Absorption

And the optionals need to drop runes like every other secondary raid chest prior to this damn expansion....between this and the diluted rare loot table, post Myth Drannor DDO has made the ridiculous grind even worse than before.

I'll just add this one....just in case you see it ;)
  • Ninja Spy "No Mercy" AP cost should be reduced from 2 AP to 1 AP per rank to match Falconry and Acrobat.

I'd like to hear a proper reasoning for the weak optionals trajectory in design since IoD - those optionals are good and worth doing. R10 many don't do even those, which is fine. They're optionals.

Almost nobody runs optionals in MD or Vecna unless they stumble over them and then never again once they have a more optimal pathing. Most people don't run Threats / Den optionals, and literally nobody does the even somewhat interesting optionals in Night Brigade pack in Darkness and Light.

I don't understand the point of spending time making optionals if they are not worth exploring. This leads to optionals not being optional, it leads to them being irrelevant and redundant and frankly a waste of time.

There is no reason not to make them worth doing while still remain optional.

The major optionals in this pack have chests with Sun/Moon Augments (different ones from the end chests) and one named item unique to that optional.

  • Quest: Kind of Big Deal - Adjusted Height of 2nd Trap Box.

Please can you also fix this trap so that the blades are actually detectable before being halfway thru the trap, I mean you should be able to detect the trap if your skill are high enough without actually having to be standing in it?!? Currently you get a warning for the trap boxes but not for the actual blade part of the traps.

Thank you

Will you be increasing the XP from optionals as well? Adding in the loot is awesome, but would love to see a little increase to the optionals XP to make them worth doing while leveling up instead of just farming the items at max level.

Is there a realistic chance that bug fixes not listed above might make their way into the update when all is said and done?
Personally I'm looking for a fix for the missing +W.
