U73 Monk Handwraps Build and Reference Guide

Why do I have 522 ddo build files
Oooo that's a really nice writeup, thanks!

If you're just maximizing raid DPS, doubling up on SD:MP (rare) filigrees is +3 MP over doubling up on Dreadbringer:Tactics (rare). Also technically Shattered Device is only optimal if nobody else has it, but that only matters for pre-planned groups. I've run Prowess 5 to cut down on gearswaps, but I'm not convinced personally.

Shadowdancer Epic Strike Upgrade is currently giving +2% Doublestrike as a passive bonus.

Typo for destiny feats, you're taking +Wis at 28 not 25

Is there ever a consideration of Light Path for the party heals? Not sure how relevant they are TBH.

Also am personally in the Treachery -50% Threat reduction boat for raiding XD

Ty for the write up. Do you consider WWA worth keeping at cap?
I typically keep it. I don't mind swapping feats out occasionally, but it's not something I do on cooldown.

SD MP rares are stupidly rare. If you've got them, go for it.

Fixed, thanks.

I find Nausea too useful, along with the 25% fort bypass for the group/raid. Try out light path. If you don't like it, then swap back.

I've run Prowess 5 to cut down on gearswaps, but I'm not convinced personally.

I always go 5x prow on melee.. swaps should be considered a no-go zone in DDO... (I do it for 1k temp hp procs off raids) but that's it... perhaps not optimal on a spreadsheet, but surely less to think about and practical in game as it is...

stellar write-up! I was pretty close to what you had on enhancements. Been thinking of swapping to precision as well. i actually pulled the autumn ring with mythic 3 (crazy luck on that!) lol. thanks for laying it out :)

How are you keeping up arcane warrior without DPS loss? Are you just trying to stack it with Ki bolt?

I decided to do a hand wraps build after seeing Kinesis, and since I’ve done all my monk and razor claw lives I settled on a str based 14 SF / 5 DL / 1 Mnk. I took the WWA line initially but if I stay at cap for significantly longer I will respec out of it for precision/two weapon defense/quicken.

The tradeoffs are about 37 lower MP, 3W less, for +1 crit multi, dragon roar, SF cleave and exalted smite. I also gain crusade(buff) as I run DC t5 FoTW t4 and SD t3 for a balance between raiding and questing. I aim to be able to solo r6’s on every endgame build, r10s in groups.

For r10 questing I feel like with Kinesis single target CCs are pretty worthless. In the time you’ve taken to hit a CC button, you’ve already likely dazed it. One second later it’s dead. It makes the GCD feel not worth it. Divine sunder is also an additional button to hit as you do a cool kick flip animation and synergizes well with DL 😀

My biggest challenge with the build is the lack of temp HP from blood feast(although I do put in 8 pts into ravages for the temp hp on hit) and low mrr. Once I farm the cap aug I’ll report back on how it feels. 62 MRR just feels terrible.(TWF defense + fortune currently) 1.9k dots from black dragon bolts.

For DPS I’m curious if you have benchmarked against the cloud giant. I was going to contact the Dungeon Helper folks to see if there was a way to parse the combat log via plugin, but failing that I’ve been benchmarking against the giant. Even without a combat epic moment, it’s doing comparable DPS to inquis(maybe 10-20% less, still need to do more runs) I’m planning to do some runs with and without patience. Will update with results.

You should add a note as to why you didn't take Perfect TWF. It's not common knowledge among the playerbase.

No, why not take Perfect Two Weapon Fighting?
Gotcha. As mentioned by Aaumini, handwraps ignores the 50%/65% offhand doublestrike mechanic, and just uses your doublestrike % for both fists. This means that the pTWF feat does nothing for a handwrap user's offensive capabilities. There's nothing in the feat description, or on the wiki, or anything Googleable about this information. And I only found out about it on a recent DDO subreddit post. IMO, Ying's guide on handwrap wielding monks would be a great place to bring this to the community's attention as it has implications for Sacred Fists and Razorclaws.

From the wiki: (https://ddowiki.com/page/Handwrap)
  • Because all of your attacks come from your main hand weapon, your off-hand attacks benefit from the following:
    • No penalty to attack for being an off-hand attack.
    • Full Damage modifier.
    • Main hand doublestrike chance (Perfect Two Weapon Fighting has no effect on handwraps).
(Though I suppose it's possible this has very recently been added)
