DDO Producer
Here are the release notes for our Lamannia Preview, Wednesday, May 28th, 2025. These notes are not final, are incomplete, and will be updated over time.
Lamannia opens starting today at 3pm, and the preview continues until 3:00pm Eastern (-4 GMT) on Friday, May 30th.

Of Special Note:

This preview features a look at the new playable race Dhampir. Learn more in the official discussion thread by clicking here.

Other changes

  • Fixed a display issue in the Junction of the Spheres that could cause the space to look bright pink.
  • The Black Abbot's Shadow guild amenity should now display its correct level (33) in the guild UI elements.
  • Harpies will now use their correct "fast flight" animation in combat when they've been configured to be flying while they patrol (Long wait times for getting the boss in Oath of Vengeance come down to the ground should be greatly reduced)
  • Xatheral the Dragon has departed from the Eberron Hall of Heroes. Xatheral's assistant is still available.
  • Double Rainbow will no longer make bats.
  • In the quest 'Growing Pains', The Stinging Swarms are now back to being Stinging Swarms instead of Fire Beetles.
  • In the quest Claw of Vulkoor, Ionna and her Warriors will properly hide in your bag now. No more wandering around endlessly!
  • In the quest Dinosaur Crisis, the weapons of the final boss now go away properly when it dies.
  • Lamannia Note: Some work has been done to address Z-fighting in the 64-bit client. We don't expect these fixes to be apparent to users in Lamannia since it is currently a 32-bit world, but please let us know if you experience any worse display problems than you expected on Lamannia in case there is a bad interaction with the changes.
  • Lamannia Note: Even though the changes for ranged combat will appear in U73.4, you will still be able to see those changes in today's Lamannia U74 preview. You can learn more about the ranged changes in the U73.4 lamannia discussion thread by clicking here. The following release notes from U73.4 would still be applicable in this preview, and if you see something from this list not working properly in this U74 preview, please let us know:
    • The Precise Shot feat now also passively increases the ability score modifier to damage of Longbows and Shortbows by 50%.
    • Adjusted the HIrelings Teal, Darling and Rana to be more performant when moving through dungeons.
    • Monsters under a fear effect will no longer run quite so far away, and engage in a more run in circles behavior.
    • Cosmetic Toggle feats now have their own feat category called cosmetics
    • All perma death cosmetic toggles granted by mortality (eyes, feet, wings, etc) now bestow a permanent feat on the player that remains through reincarnation. Players who currently have the temporary feats can speak to Mortality in the Hall of Heroes to upgrade to the new permanent versions. Give it a try!
    • Monsters will no longer occasionally say "THE OTHER IMPOSSIBLE CASE".
    • Quest Sleeping with the Fishes: it should be less possible to cause the quest to become unable to be completed when fighting the final Boss.
    • Quest Covered Culvert: Arcanist Kiton will now only speak to one adventurer at a time.
    • VIP Loyalty Rewards: The Cloud Mount should no longer think that it's a horse, and appear more correctly in the focus orb.
    • It should now be possible to claim the VIP Loyalty Rewards mounts on multiple game worlds.
    • Made further performance optimizations for how Monsters behave when they try to run away.
Known Issue:

The extra damage for long and short bows does not display in the weapon summary of the main inventory panel
There is a contract in the Testdojo for a Hireling that is not ready for preview yet. We will let you know when it's time to preview Drossheart.

what is "Z-Fighting"?
Z-fighting is usually visual glitches that happen when overlapping surfaces are too close to each other and the z-buffer (depth sorting) precision is not enough to cope. This produces either wrong textures to be shown, or flashing textures of one or the other surface. It was very annoying in many places in DDO when using 64-bit client. For example, the ground below Elminster in Eveningstar was a flashing mess. Not sure how many were fixed already, as I don't play much anymore.

With the Dhampir getting the Eladrin hairstyles and some other new ones...can you go back and add those to all the old races? New races just keep making the older ones look worse and worse with the additional creation options...

  • Double Rainbow will no longer make bats.
Thank the Lord of Blades for that.

I admittedly got some chuckles out of it when it confused someone who hadn't heard it go off before, but most of the time it was just annoying as heck.

There is something off about Drossheart and Igan
Is the Lamannia launcher supposed to have a dangling ">" between news items or did a developer fat finger the code that pulls the news items?

Looking forward to the Z changes! Well and some of the other stuff too, but the texture flashing will be nice to see go away (hopefully).

Dear developers.
Fix Shifter's Magic Fang.
Fix Reinforced Fists item enchantment and active Monk Past Life Feat to work again for Razorclaw.
Please.
Thank you.
Are you sure it's a bug, rather than an undocumented nerf?

Lamannia Note: Some work has been done to address Z-fighting in the 64-bit client. That fixed a bunch of spots that were really bad (like under Elminster in estar and by the bank in feywild); they no longer induce seizures.

"We don't expect these fixes to be apparent to users in Lamannia since it is currently a 32-bit world" seeing as how the issue is clientside not serverside, with the video rendering, I don't know why you didn't expect it to be apparent. The 64-bit/32-bit clients are independent of the 64-bit/32-bit status of the worlds; so this note confuses me. Upside, it did fix some obvious long time z-fighting issues and not noticing any downsides from the fix on my end.

I think it's extremely weird that any time is wasted on the junction of the spheres. The whole concept should be scrapped and just give people their destiny/fate/whatever points when they hit 20.

I brought this up when the junction was first introduced, and the devs had 2 arguments for it.

1 - You only have to do it once per character ever. Ok, but why do you even have to do the 1? It's completely unnecessary and pointless.

2 - They said they planned to expand on the junction npcs, and have them give out more info on the various EDs. Tips and tricks and such. Nothing has been done since it came out Nov 2021.

Other people have said that it's good for newbies as an intro/tutorial. But it's a horrible intro and nonexistent tutorial. Most newbies, when they hit 20, don't even read the message about going to the junction. Some have been active in the discord/forums asking questions in preparation for 20, and have had people remind them about the junction. I've seen 1-2 that just had no idea EDs were a thing until they had gained a few epic levels.

If you want to make it a source of information, then have it GIVE information out. As it is now it's just a meaningless aspect of the game. There's no reason you can't leave it on but not require people to go there to unlock EDs. Make it a quest like the hall of the mark, can even throw in a quiz. Then the reward could be a free ED reset or some XP or something.

Side note, I hate things that are required but don't need to be. Like running the intro quest once/server/account. Every other character can skip it, why have it be forced in the first place?

Please have the new race wish of memories available on day one this time. Last time, it took months and I paused play waiting for it...
