I think something like this would be more reasonable.
| attempt | month | year | sum | alt month | alt year | alt sum |
| 1 | 100 | 1,200 | 1,200 | 100 | 1,200 | 1,200 |
| 2 | 300 | 3,600 | 4,800 | 250 | 3,000 | 4,200 |
| 3 | 500 | 6,000 | 10,800 | 500 | 6,000 | 10,200 |
| 4 | 1,000 | 12,000 | 22,800 | 1,000 | 12,000 | 22,200 |
| 5 | 2,500 | 30,000 | 52,800 | 2,000 | 24,000 | 46,200 |
| 6 | 5,000 | 60,000 | 112,800 | 4,000 | 48,000 | 94,200 |
| 7 | 10,000 | 120,000 | 232,800 | 8,000 | 96,000 | 190,200 |
| 8 | 25,000 | 300,000 | 532,800 | 16,000 | 192,000 | 382,200 |
| 9 | 50,000 | 600,000 | 1,132,800 | 32,000 | 384,000 | 766,200 |
| 10 | 100,000 | 1,200,000 | 2,332,800 | 64,000 | 768,000 | 1,534,200 |
I agree with this but don't think it goes far enough. The first 7 boxes each month comes out to 19,400 rems. Over the year that's 232,800 remnants.
The 8th box is 25,000 or another 300,000.
The 9th box is 50,000 or another 600,000.
The 10th box is 100,000 or another 1.2M.
The proposal here would put the first 7 boxes at 15,850 rems. Over the year that's 190,200 remnants.
The 8th box is 16,000 or another 192,000.
The 9th box is 32,000 or another 384,000.
The 10th box is 64,000 or another 768,000.
In total... the current system requires 2,332,800 remnants. The proposed change here would still require 1,534,200 remnants. Yes, it's a serious reduction (798,600), but it still leaves the same issue with the amounts overall. If you assume players want to participate and need would need to farm 100,000 remnants each month to get the full reward list, and assuming folks get 100 remnants per quest (YMMV depending on difficulty and which quests you're running), that's 1,000 quests per month. That's 32-36 quests per day, assuming you play DDO every day. In the current system that assumes you are already sitting on a stockpile of 1.13M remnants when the event starts. Even with the proposed change, you would need a stockpile of 300K+ remnants at the start of the event, and then grind at the values above to even come close to hitting the numbers required.
Does the amount for 7 chests seem reasonable? Overall, for my amount of playtime and current remnant collection, I would say "yes". I also agree you don't
NEED to get 10 boxes from the event each month. That isn't the point. This is a special event for DDOs 20th anniversary and feeling like you're leaving significant rewards on the table (36 boxes throughout the course of the year) takes something that should be a "feel good/thank you for playing for 20 years" moment and turns it into a mixed bag of feelings of excitement for what the 84 boxes might hold, and extreme disappointment in the way the event was executed.
Here is what I would propose instead:
| attempt | month | year | sum |
| 1 | 100 | 1,200 | 1,200 |
| 2 | 250 | 3,000 | 4,200 |
| 3 | 500 | 6,000 | 10,200 |
| 4 | 750 | 9,000 | 19,200 |
| 5 | 1,000 | 12,000 | 31,200 |
| 6 | 1,500 | 18,000 | 49,200 |
| 7 | 2,000 | 24,000 | 73,200 |
| 8 | 3,000 | 36,000 | 109,200 |
| 9 | 6,000 | 72,000 | 181,200 |
| 10 | 10.000 | 120,000 | 301,200 |
This would mean the most a player would need to farm in a single month to get full rewards would be 25,100 remnants. Assuming 100 remnants per quest... that's 8-9 quests per day which seems much more reasonable (to me) for the average player. If you want this to be a "feel good" moment for the players while still having a cost/or a remnant-themed event, please consider adjusting the cost down significantly.
Thank you if you read this feedback.
