As a single data point, we are aiming for, at level 34 (non-raid), a bonus of +8/4/2 to multi-school bonuses (which is up from +5/3/2), and a bonus of 12/3/6 to single-school (up from 6/3/1).
That should put me at +2 to most of my DCs without doing any gear changes and it frees up multiple GH augs I currently have slotted that I could then use to get even more DCs.

I wish! Bumping up random loot is incredibly complicated :p Thankfully its all set now and I don't have to go back into the spreadsheet mines for a while.
Here's a bit of clarification...
  • Reaper penalties, not also applying to non-casters.
  • Mob stat inflation out-pacing players.
  • Mob immunities on virtually everything, with no way to dispel it. (Melees have no such issue BTW)
  • Non-casters being given SLA's like they're candy. Its to the point that a group or raid doesn't need a real caster. Other than maybe a token healer for the tank.
  • Raids and many quests are not being designed with Caster or Caster roles in mind.

Hi all! There's been some great discussion here and I wanted to thank you all for your passionate feedback. I wanted to give a quick update on where we are with this initiative:

When we ran the numbers for Preview 1, we wanted players to see, at a minimum, some sort of increase to their spell DCs without any gear intervention. When we adjusted the channels for the level 16 and 24 spell school DC augments, the loss of those stacking bonuses ate into that increase, to the point where some characters actually didn't receive a bonus to spell DC at all. That was not what we wanted from this initiative!

To fix this, we're taking another crack at the numbers across the single-school and multi-school channels. As a single data point, we are aiming for, at level 34 (non-raid), a bonus of +8/4/2 to multi-school bonuses (which is up from +5/3/2), and a bonus of 12/3/6 to single-school (up from 6/3/1).

Our main goals for this initiative remain the same. We hope that the combination of increased spell DC bonuses and consolidated equipment channels make it so that a caster looking to boost their spell DCs can get higher DCs than what they had before while using less equipment and augment slots, something that will hopefully make gearing up a lot easier.

As always, thank you all again for your feedback!
Thanks for listening, this is good.

Can the augments from Gianthold be changed for Insight variant of their appropriate level instead with this pass since there is not a lot of insight source for specif school currently in-game. even Adding more levels thant 16 and 24 now thaht it's not a specif statcking type would be awesome.

The main issues with the changes isn't the changes themselves. There is a massive lack of support from the itemization.

Quality evocation items: 3x crystal cove, 1 raid item
Quality necromancy items: 2 x ravenloft items (ilv 28, no one uses anymore because theyre so out of date)
Quality transmutation : none exist

What about changing the giant hold augments to be +3/5 quality (and change the MLto 30 if needed). They would keep their role as useful, but could gradually be phased out by new items. This would let most toons have a more sizeable DC bump (+5 or so) while allowing them to not remain BiS Forever and tie up augment slots.

Maybe the itemization changes would be more palatable if the cost of Augment and Filigree tools whats so ridiculous. Never mind that fact that most of these do NOT drop in game!

Since the GH bonuses are being changed, could we possibly get those augments as single school insight bonus.
These will make them desirable even at a lower level
Yes!

Since I tended to slot the GH augments in items giving a bonus to the same school (a rational/logical choice), having them now give insightful bonus would be a win. The alternative for me would be to overwrite them with something useful, or extract them, the latter a forced and costly move.

Will that be it or is there a follow up increasing DC from non-item sources too?

Any plans for caster dps?

The only thing this'll change for most people would be the overwriting of GH augments as they're now worthless at cap. No point wasting a kit to pull something out that is effectively trash.

Gear consolidation is one of the biggest problems as a caster, especially if I want to have more than one spellpower and lore effect...and crit damage increases. That plus the multitude of feats (spell focus, spell pens, mental toughness, metas). I like the direction you all are headed, and I hope it keeps going to address these additional issues.

Yeah, I'm sure the 5 remaining non-ATR endgame nukers will love this change
I really losing faith in this game. People shaping the future that never play the game is not a good thing.
It's clear they don't play. If they did they'd understand what players are gripping about. Everyone of the changes the dev team is talking about makes this game less interesting and more cookie cutter.
