Either that, or a sort option drop-down like what's on the character sheet to sort things alphabetically. Or both! I think that section of the UI needs a lot of help.
Now we're talking.... Ya think?
Better attach a life-line incase you get lost.

I like how "Epic Knowledge" and "Epic Power" are not amongst the actual feats anymore

I don't like how there's a "Ranged" section but not a "Melee" section. Melee feats are thrown in "Martial" along with Precision, Weapon Finesse and even Improved Critical: Ranged, so Martial is not the right place for melee-only feats. If you just have a "Ranged" only section, people will mentally get confused. Symmetry and consistency is important for understanding.
I know this is the current situation also, but this change amplifies the problem.

So make the suggestion that they need to peel off a section for single weapon fighting and two handed fighting while keeping the rest in the Martial category.

Ok, it looks like the polling opinion is just about as split as I was - but as we're leaning towards the old way at this point, I've put all of the Epic and Destiny feats back to where they were for the launch of U81. I really appreciate everyone here who checked things out during Previews 1 and 2, and who voiced your opinions here. Thank you!

In the meantime, we've put together two upgrades to our feat viewing experiences. The first is within our advancement system, and includes a new checkbox that displays all of the feats in purely alphabetical order, without using any categories.

The second is on the character sheet, which will now display the level that a feat was taken, just as feats do when within the Feat Respec UI.

These changes will not debut with U81 as we're too close to the release window, but will be released in an upcoming patch. Thank you!

Howdy all! With Update 81 we're trying something experimental - the removal of the Epic and Legendary feat display categories for the character sheet and level-up flow. All Epic and Legendary feats themselves are unchanged, but visually, they have been dispersed throughout the feat list to match up with their usage and prerequisites, much like normal feats.

This is a pretty significant change with some pretty significant pros and cons. The biggest pro being that, with these feats dispersed, finding the one you want is actually much easier, as it's sorted into a category with the rest of the similar feats. However, this is a big change, and we wanted to give you all space to discuss if this is something we should move forward with.

So, if you've checked this out on Lamannia, please let us know what you think!

Bugs Fixed since Preview 1:
  • All feats not in a category have been added to a category
  • Leveling up now correctly uses categories

Feats have gotten to the point now where I want a search/filter. Having feats categorized based on level of content was nice cause i could easily find them. Having feats based off of type and pre-requisite is nice for learning the the trees.

Either way scrolling through feats to discover an option is a pain

A toggle would be nice I guess? But like you said pros an cons... What I really want is a search/filter and then I would probably prefer this new method.

To be honest, I'd be happy if y'all just put a search bar in. Most of the time I know exactly what feat I am looking for and am just wading through the UI to find it. A search bar would speed things up a lot for me :)

I dunno....

I can't recall a single thread ever where someone complained about not finding their feats. As an initial impression, this seems somewhat like another fixing something that ain't really broke - but ....
It don't.
Seriously, guys, you have nothing else to do, that you are wasting time on senseless crafting changes (this is me, whose main occupation in MMO is trading and crafting) and on interface changes that no one has ever asked for?! Do not try to fix what is not broken! Please!

^ this.

I know you just said you are leaning towards keeping the old list (thankfully), but even with a few new epic feats, I don't see this ever being a huge concern, and I've never heard of anyone caring about the current list.

I don't want to dig through separate categories just to figure out what my current level-up choices are. The unique epic feats on the top, heroic feats on the bottom work perfect as they are.

There are still hundreds of bugs, and hundreds of poorly halfbaked systems in the game. This is just wasting time, to potentially make something much worse (like teleport.)

Thank you! The level-based display is very useful. I hope that in the future you can also provide a simplified view showing only non-automatic feats, sorted by level.

Is there an option to hide the level? Because honestly that looks like a mess. At no point would I even care about seeing the level it was taken, other than in fred's respec window. I just don't get why someone would want that in day-to-day display.

I'd prefer if it was listed in a level order rather than alphabetical and other than that it's just better than before.

Alphabet is a good start to QoL, search bar though is the best user experience in my experience, whenever that can be done would be awesome.

Any chance it could be a toggle between the two views?

That's mostly it - there's a lot of feats there now. I'm still not 100% sold on this as a potential solution, though, so I really appreciate feedback on if this change would help people find things.
Personally i like the feats as they are on live for the sole purpose of being able to find all my high level feats in one easy spot, having them in their respective categories will make leveling more tedious imo to sift through it all to get to say a spell caster feat at the very bottom of like 100 feats. That being said, this would be an absolutely lovely idea if you can implement a check box to only show level 20+ feats like there are check boxes to show active/passive/unavailable, and theoretically the epic feats all have the level 20+ requirement tag so if the check box is hooked to looking for that, maybe it is feasible for you guys? alternatively maybe make subcategories under the epic feats just for the sake of not having to scroll to the very bottom of the feat list to find something that is currently at like the number 5 spot on the list
