Howdy all! With Update 82 we're adjusting several aspects of item examination to make viewing items with long tooltips more easily understandable. These changes include:
  • Each individual "section" of an item's examination now has a Header to visually separate that block of text from the other blocks of text if it didn't have one already. This Header is now horizontally centered and slightly brighter to further separate the sections visually.
  • The tooltips for item Set Bonuses have been condensed significantly, cutting down on section height and increasing readability.
  • The generated tooltips for Slotted Filigree have been condensed significantly, cutting down on section height and increasing readability.
  • Set bonuses granted from Filigree are now split out into their own section, Filigree Set Bonuses, to make them easier to parse.
  • Slotted Filigree now appear below the Augments and Set Bonus sections. Filigree Set Bonuses appear below slotted Filigree. (New order, from top to bottom: Effects, Augments, Set Bonuses, Filigree, Filigree Set Bonuses)
  • Minor Artifacts now display their slotted Filigree.
Please let us know what you think of these changes!

This sounds good, but couldn't you also increase the width of the box by at least 10% or 15%? Fewer descriptions will go to a second+ line this way.

Also, could Durability be moved to the top or something? Checking durability is pretty much the only reason I ever need to wait for the exam window to slowwwwwwly scroll to the bottom. It's like watching molasses drip down a wall.

If you press the "Examine" button (default Z) while selecting an item, you can scroll at your own pace!

You forgot to mention something else you fixed: each filigree you have is explicitly mentioned, not just the set bonuses. Thanks!

Looks better! I like it. Here's a screenshot for those curious: (before on the left, after on the right)
lmao, that whole items is a MASSIVE 3-line decrease in height? That was worth the developer time

And can we get items updated to include their material type in the top portion? So instead of saying "Large Shield" we could have it say "Steel Large Shield" or "Large Shield (Steel)" ?

When an item is in a chest, we don't want to spend all day waiting on a long list of effects to scroll or to hit other buttons. But it'd be nice to see if that weapon is immune to oozes, or the like, or a valid Druid item.

2 things while you're here,-

rollover examine windows could use the semi transparent background ~10% or so more opaque & solid, to make it darker so it is easier to read when over other things.

Also please change red text to something else, suggest a different shade red -a brighter luminance one-, as red on black is so hard to read and should be avoided at all costs,- it's a designers first rule to learn thing- red text on black is a no-no.

It would be nice if the organization of effects was standardized. For example, mythic/reaper bonuses are appended to the end of the effects list when they appear on items at creation, but when they're added to an existing item they're stacked on top. I'd like to see them in the same position and order, regardless.

Also, augments need to show their description text and the damage line needs to pull damage types from augments (colored, crafted, or otherwise), especially if the dr changes go live.

can you fix the Paladin Aura put back the examination field back to the start bug? Please! it is annoying to scrolld down infinite times to see what is at the bottom of someone biography

I think time would be MUCH better spent on the UI tonquin was working on before, letting us see if an item had augment slots (possibly special materials too?) at a glance, in the chest window.

The presentation is a lot cleaner, and I like that the filigree got moved to the bottom. The only addition I would like to see is all the enhancements from class, enhancement, spells, Epic Destinies and Scion feats moved to a "Temporary Enchantments" section.

Hiyas!

Could the weapon examination menu include collapsible categories (Effects, Augments, FIligrees, Set Bonues) that when the window is initially opened would be closed, so that you would only see the summary at the top and the durability at the bottom. From there, we could choose what we want to look at, and avoid the entire scroll issue?

Seems kind of like wasted time on this one when some of the other far reaching changes need serious help getting things done across the board unless the playerbase is going to have to suffer through the fallout of U82 for the next 4 years like the last time we had such a balance pass...

Suggestion, put a section at the top that is just the basic info and the names of the enchants and abilities, and have the descriptions and details of those enchants and abilities follow, so one can get an overview of the item's capabilities right at the beginning, especially if they already remember most of the enchants, and then they can read further about any they forgot. This is especially helpful if they are looking through their half dozen daggers for that one that has vampirism on it or similar situations.
