Building multiple Sentient weapons is a pain but kinda OK if they can use DR to move away from the giant hitpoint bags that raids have devolved into. Of course fixing the rareness of T2 filigrees would be helpful since that has been reported as a bug for years.

Doesn't it seem like DR breaking is going to be per player/per weapon attack. I doubt it will be like the Lammordia raid where as long as you hit the mob with the right damage, the DR is broken for all.

Why would they lower the hit point thresholds? What would be the point in making mobs more survivable? So they get DR and half the hit points, but we bypass the DR and kill them twice as fast as before?

Just to mention it: this is something I suggested more than 10 years ago, so I'm really glad to see it finally happening.

Right now DR on monsters feels meaningless due to the high damage numbers, and this could change that. My feeling is that I'd even go to 75 %, but 50 % might be enough.

I would, however, consider making monsters with double DR — like flensers and rend demons — reduce damage even further if you have none of the required weapon properties. So: if your weapon is either good or cold iron, you deal 50 % damage; if it has neither, only 25 %; and if it has both, you deal full damage.

A caster who uses Mass Hold and Finger of Death will often run into mobs that are completely unaffected by those spells. In those cases the caster has to resort to lesser means of dealing with them.

A martial dps that runs into mobs with DR his main weapon does not break is quite similar - except you can either just kill the mob with half damage (for leveling that is perfectly doable) or you can swap to another weapon.

I have to say that martial dps has enjoyed several years of easy mode where they could handle ALL scenarios with the very same plan - dps from their main weapon. Zero down sides and no consideration needed.

To see the many people posting that it is the end of the world to change that seems rather odd considering the caster I started out mentioning.

I endorse this change - and I do play martial builds both at cap and for leveling.

So will the spell Stoneskin be affected by this, and if so, only for the baddies ? I'd love to get an outright 50% physical damage resistance...

But not realistic. The way it is now, DR is pretty much meaningless. This change is good.

The change is terribad, the concept is good.

DR should matter is good, a flat -50% to everyone everywhere is bad.
Someone above put it better, -20% damage as a general rule for reaper raids and it scaling down for normal / hard. When you think "DR" you are thinking material or alignment, but the most common DR in the game is type specific like slashing / piercing / blunt, something you often can't easily swap between. Then the sentient gem issue just wrecks any sense of fairness or balance to the idea as proposed.

Anyone ever notice how the Devs post this kind of game breaking bs and then NEVER respond back to the thread where they posted? Such non-sense!!!!

Usually it means its' done on purpose to depower the players before something that combats that is sold.

Season based games are notorious for this, throwing around meta breaking nerfs right before announcing a new "season" with the answer to those nerfs.

Can you add a new quiver to the game to help out with this?

Make it on your back so everyone can see it.

And have it look like a golf bag because you’re gonna need a bag that big to fit all your DR weapons YO.

“Link your Golf Bag and its contents”

And add a new creature companion that’s dressed up like a golf caddy complete with plaid pants, golf shirt and cute little white shoes.

Can't wait for them to not respond to any criticism, put this out without actually thinking about who it impacts because like, 5 players said they liked it vs the abundance that's saying this is a dumb change. No, just because you bring in some crazy strong raid group constantly doesn't mean everyone else should suffer so *your* group can have "Muh challenges." Thats what push raiding is for. As many people have said, requiring players to have multiple DR beaters is stupid. When the game moved away from that, that was a GOOD change. People LIKED it. It doesn't matter if its "unrealistic," it's a FANTASY GAME. there are SPELLS. Can you cast a spell in real life? No? Congrats, realism doesn't matter. As I said, it is CRYSTAL CLEAR that the people working on this game don't actually play it. You should not ask your players to build multiple DR breaking weapons/spend feats to use two different weapon types. That's dumb. I don't get what you have against zergers and this is likely an attempt to slow down questing overall, not just DPS in raids, but leave it be. The people who wanna smell the flowers can smell the flowers. The people who wanna clear fast, let them clear fast. And actually respond to criticism, don't post this stuff and ignore feedback after saying "Hey, we want your feedback on these changes!" The only interaction you ever provide is just answering some slight questions, you never actually take the things the players say into account, and if you do, it's usually in favor of the maybe 5-10% of players in favor of your bad change because its easier to implement it as it is and make the majority suffer for something they don't want than it is to tweak it. This ISN'T pen and paper. This ISN'T fifth edition. Quit trying to make it that way. If I wanted to play pen and paper, I'd PLAY pen and paper. If I wanted to play 5e, I'd PLAY 5e. VERY few people were asking for MORE DR on monsters, a change for them that HINDERS the MAJORITY PLAYERBASE is an OBJECTIVELY BAD CHANGE. if they want more challenge, they can run a new gimmicky build or play on higher skulls. You guys have time to find and remove non-existent snow in saltmarsh that all of maybe five total people in this game's existence have ever seen, but you DON'T have the time to actually listen to player feedback or, I dunno, INTERACT with the community? There are bigger games than DDO that allow their players to vote on major changes like these. Why can't you do that? It's as simple as putting up a pole, and yeah sure maybe not everyone will see it, but if you made it something like a new NPC in a very active place, that fixes that problem. Many long time players I've spoken to on this told me they don't wanna build 3-4 sentient weapons and gimp their builds taking improved crit for other weapon types and might just outright quit if this change goes live. You're already losing MANY of your artificers because you decided to remove endless fusilade, so thats MORE PLAYERS quitting. Do you guys just.. NOT care if your game stays alive, or?? Like are you doing this on purpose to work on some other project we don't know about?? Becuase it seems like this is the pattern. Implement some dumb change nobody asked for, some players leave, then you guys sit there wondering "WHAAAT? Why'd people leave after we made the game more of a hassle to play?!" and you repeat this, again and again. And this makes the new player experience even WORSE than it currently is. "Whats that, you didn't happen to try specializing in two completely different weapon types? Enjoy dealing HALF of your already LOW damage to this skeleton, get owned lmao." Its a tone deaf change proposed by people who DO NOT. Play. this. game.
