Ukraine payment source restricted from making purchases

I'm not on either side, I'm just a reporter.
This guy on Moonsea started playing the game. He was locked out most quests because of course no DDOFREEQUESTS code and he was ready to spend money to buy a VIP subscription.
Well, that's not possible.
He lives in the Ukraine and his country is restricted from making purchases at the store.

Guy in discord said Xsolla, the payment solution, is/was owned by a Russian company.

In any case, this isn't right.
I wonder if he would be able to make a purchase if he was living in <a different country currently involved in war or warlike activities>.

I don't want to spark a political debate, so yeah let's keep calm.

Can you not use a prepaid credit card and spin the dial on a VPN to another country?
SSG has cranked up anti-fraud mechanisms to 11. I have EU guildies who can't pay for VIP or expansions because they moved countries. They've exhausted all of the tricks like this to no avail.

I suppose they would have a market for being able to gift people money they could use for VIP, etc. Have played games like that before; of course, the exploit there was to create an account in India where you could buy the game currency for less and gift it to your US based account. I don't think they do any discount like that here though.

SSG does not do per-region pricing. I hear all about it when Canadians and Euro guildies go to buy expansions.

True. I buy in Euros and the site just do on-the-fly conversion to show prices (and I think it's actually the credit card issuer and/or PayPal that does the actual currency change).

This may be different in EU, Eurozone (which is a smaller area) or Europe in general (including UK - which is not Euro and EU, like Ukraine). What may be different for SSG is regulations and VAT accounting (I remember this was required for Turbine, at some point, and they posted here their EU VAT registration code).

I would be interested to know where your guildies are from, if you can share this.

But it is surprising that the company is sticking with a Russian payment processor who's actively restricting Ukraine players, when they wouldn't even stick with wildmen in Lordsmarch

Players from Russia cannot make any payments also. Friendly fire from that nasty Xsolla.

Dear SSG.
Please, talk some sense to that sneaky Russians from Xsolla, so they let those who are from Russia to pay for VIP subscription and buy DDO points.
Thank you.

This isn't just random politics. The narrative in this thread is a Russian payment processor is sanctioning folks in Ukraine who play DDO because of how DDO is receiving payments. Continuing to just roll with only this payment processor, if the narrative is true, is a big deal.
For sure, SSG is definitely not in a position to be making more difficult for their customers to buy their products.

But I think you would agree that Israel has nothing to do it, wouldn't ya?

Just the facts

SSG has no power to change Xsolla's decision to sanction payments from Ukraine.
SSG ain't gonna change payment processors for a plethora of reasons.
Epic Games Store uses Xsolla. Works perfectly fine in Ukraine.
Steam, as I've heard, uses Xsolla too. Same as above, never fail the payment.

DDO/LotRO are the only 2 games "banned" by Xsolla for unknown reasons.

So Xosilla IS a Russian company.

I'd like to know the reasons. "Plethora" is not quantitative,

btw, Israel is unrelated. Despite the facts. And will get this thread locked, considering reality.

Install DDO on Steam. You can pay for sub there too and that trash called xsola is not involved.

Also I dont hate xsola for being russian or whatever. I hate those motherfuckers because they banned me from buying (warframe goods) because somehow I had a TWITCH (ya the purple stream platform) chargeback. Funny thing, I never paid or wanted to pay for twitch.
Ah-ha! But that still wouldn't stop shenanigans in the DDO store, or would it?

BTW, why can I only Follow or Ignore you, not message you
