Unable to see tooltips when i mouse over any abilities /gear

Kind weird sometimes it pops up sometimes it doesn't but like when i was making a character I was unable to read what certain feats and stuff were and had to google it... any ideas what could be causing this?

I'm unable to figure out what everything in my inventory is and it's driving me crazy lol

I do not know what causes this, but it seems to be a pretty common bug.

The temporary workaround is: instead of hovering, click on it, then examine it (x is default key for examine iirc, though you can also click on the gear button of the focus orb). This will let you see the item details and scroll down for really large/complex items.

sadly, I have no solution for when this happens to non-items like feats.

If it is constant, Options -> UI Settings -> Tooltip Enable (1/4 of the way down from the top)

If it is sporadic, my best advice is to re-start the client. If that does not help, look at your Network Status Display Anything out of the ordinary? Loss Rate should be 0.0%. Recv: Is generally in the hundreds of Bps. and not thousands of tens of thousands (although the number can spike when loading into the game or a new zone, loading bank data, during combat, etc. Lastly, try moving your cursor over the object and then remove your hand from the mouse. I have had instances where the slightest movement of the mouse causes the window to immediately disappear or to not appear at all.

I have also had issues where the Tooltip for an item (inventory / bank / chest / et al.) continues to flash on screen for a brief moment (1/10 of a second or such). In this case I have had success linking the item in a chat window and then clicking on the link.

My 2 cents, although worth considerably less.

So far as I know it's been happening for years. Some times logging in and out fixes it, some times a full reboot. Tickets have been filed about it for years, it's still happening.
Incidentally, you can right click, then select the gear box on preview and open the stats/info bit, though it's a little drawn out.

it actually appears to be the TOOLTIP DELAY i turned it off and now i can actually read over abilities and stuff thanks for pointing me to the right place!

I think this is caused by a bad connection with some packet loss.
