astute skills is just int skills without spellcraft. why would you want it worse?
Its the values - int skills is using the old HGS scaling so only +6 whereas the other exceptional skills (nimble, prudent, astute, are +10/11) they can fix this by adding spellpower to astute or fix the scaling of int/dex/cha/wis skills

Ideally it would be nice if random loot could now drop with the new augment slots - combined with crafting that would definitely allow more flexibility for gear, especially if you could have norrmal augments at the same time, though rarely of course :)

I know this goes against the idea of the Moon augments, being that all the moon augments are meant to be Profane, so I dont expect this to be changed, but I think in this one specific instance it should be. The Negative Heal Amp augment. Negative Healing Amplification's default type bonus, it's "Competence" bonus if you will, is already Profane. It seems unfair to have the special stacking type that in this specific instance, just doesn't stack.

Sure! We'd noticed over the course of the last few expansion packs that there were some persistent trends over time in how many builds are geared. Those trends more or less boiled down to the idea that it was becoming very difficult to move away from certain pieces of gear due to set bonuses. Additionally, if gear wasn't optimized for specific set bonuses, it was often regarded as less useful regardless of the stats on it.

In order to shake this up, we landed on the Sun & Moon Augment System. It delivers most of what people were able to obtain via the Set Bonus system statistically while alleviating some of the above concerns AND making the gear meta more malleable, which is especially useful as build diversity continues to widen.

This is awesome. Set bonuses are honestly what has ruined itemization (and somewhat the game) for me as it's frustrating having to wear items with stats that you don't want just because the set bonus is so strong or to forego a really cool item because it takes the slot of a set item.

Ideally the whole set bonus would just go away (what's even the point of it if it's not actually a set) so we'd have complete item freedom, but this is a good compromise.
There are no more sets with the new loot. Each augment stands alone and isn't part of a set.

This is a case where I love the design, but dislike the negative outcome for my builds.

For example on my 12 fighter, 5 Rogue, 3 bard used mostly for soloing, but also for raids is using the following sets:

Legendary Armaments of the Archon (armor, helm, cloak)
Legendary Forbidden Knowledge (goggles, belt, boots, weapon, off-hand)
Legendary Raven's Eye (gloves, trinket)
Legendary Windlasher's Ferocity (necklace, trainket)
Arcane Barrier Augment Set (ring, ring, bracers)

These set bonuses give me the following (ignoring things that have minimal impact on build)

30 Artifact PRR (Sun)
30 Artifact MRR (Sun)
10% Legendary HP (Sun)
15% Artifact HP (Sun)
30 Profane PRR (Moon)
3 Profane to all stats (Multiple moon augments - con is always useful, str for main stat, int and dex for trapping, cha for bluff, etc, wisdom for spot and will save.)
4 Profane attack and Damage (Damage on a moon augment, Attack is unknown but theoretically a moon augment)
15 Profane Melee Power (Moon)
25 Profane Spellpower marginally used for self-healing (now Moon)
3 Artifact Attack and Damage (Unknown - theoretically Sun)
3 Artifact Critical Confirmation and Critical Damage (Unknown - theoretically Sun))
3 Artifact Sneak Attack and Sneak Attack Damage (Unknown - theoretically Sun))
7 Artifact Search and Spot (Unknown - theoretically Sun))
15 Artifact Melee Power (Sun)
15 Artifact Doublestrike (Sun)
30 Artifact MRR Cap (Unknown but can conceivably keep using set with ring, ring, off-hand)

With 5 sun slots and 4 moon slots I am losing quite a bit.

Moon isn't quite as bad as sun, but I think ring, ring and off-hand should all have sun spots and for both artifact and profane attack and damage should be grouped as a single augment.

Saves should also be combined on a single augment.

Looking at my palemaster it's very much the same except the loss of artifact critical chance for specific damage types like fire is very significant.

I really like the idea of moving the "set" parts to augment slots.

Maybe we can get augments for armor that type it as heavy/medium/light/cloth/docent? That way we don't have to collect 5 of the same item essentially?

This definitely needs to change. Either that, or we need to get everything else changed to equipment bonuses.

We need 1 or 2 more bracer options. the 3 we have are too specialized. Unless you are undead, a monk, or a melee druid the 3 bracers are pretty useless which means they are not worth equipping even for the augment.
Maybe just a plain craftable bracer that has the augment?

Hero

...it's on the lips of the people.
I see them expanding on a lot of this.

Imagine slotting GS dust proc as a moon augment into a weapon?

Winter is Coming
Rare loot table pulls make me very very sad, b/c ---> after completing nearly every past life & spending a more than fair amount of shards & a stable of alts, I've never been able to pull a Jack Jibbers Blade, Nebula Fragment, OR either Frozen or Fried Sword Fish...statically 10,000 monkeys banging at keys over an infinite time will write like Shakespeare...this also means that it's quite possible that some will absolutely never pull this uber cool stuff and be left behind.

if we are going to put these great items on very low odds, then please put some mechanism to purchase them with runes/token fragments/etc...I mean I hate suggesting another trade in system, but for some statistically flawed folks like myself, it's the only way to compete...please ?

Comments on Gear - mostly focused on end game gear here, but much of it applies to heroic gear as well.

Affixes I dislike seeing on gear:
Quality Will Save, Reflex Save Fortitude Save - too small to be impactful. Would much rather see a quality stat here or just quality bonus to all saves.
Reflex Save, Will Save, Fortitude Save - resistance is much better even if 1 less.
Anything class-specific such as reinforced fists or Druidic Survival Mastery - there should be augments specific builds can use for these instead
Insightful Deadly, tactics - redundant with trance
<Stat> skills: Exceptional bonus - occasionally useful, but not often except for a trapper. Should just be an augment
Magic Efficiency 10% - unless it changed, doesn't stack with other non-gear sources
Proof Against Poison: Does this even work?
Proof Against Disease: Does this even work?
Tendon Slice: Rarely impactful to justify a gear slot
Competence Elemental Resistance: Rarely impactful
Immunity to Fear: Prefer to just slot an augment if I need this as so many builds end up getting this by default
Insightful Resistance: Just a downgraded version of parrying
Distant Incite: If a tank I will use shield throwing if I need to agro mobs
Linguistics: Niche thing for maybe an off-tank that over-relies on intimidate
Physical Sheltering (prefer 1 augment vs. 2 gear slots)
Magical Sheltering (prefer 1 augment vs. 2 gear slots)
Acid, Fire, Cold, Electric, Sonic Spell Resistance - not worth a gear slot usually - would prefer absorb as it's more impactful
UMD +x: Not really needed at end game
Putting Ranged and Melee affixes on the same item
Putting Martial and Casting affixes on the same item

Affixes I am less excited about
Anything I can get on augment - accuracy, deadly, combustion, etc.
Exceptional Healing Amp - not impactful except for maybe a tank

Affixes I often have trouble finding
Typically things that can't be found on an augment
Quality Deadly
Quality Accuracy
Quality Combat Mastery
Seeker, Insightful Seeker, Quality Seeker, Exceptional Seeker
Crown of Summer
Action Boost Enhancement
Insightful Armor Piercing
Insightful and Quality Stats
Insightful Sheltering ideally although I'll take insightful magical sheltering and insightful physical sheltering
Quality Sheltering ideally although I'll take quality magical sheltering and quality physical sheltering
Insightful <spell type>, e.g., insightful combustion
<Type> spell lore, e.g., fire spell lore - almost non-existant on this gear set - like to see insightful combusion and fire lore on same item ideally
Quality Spell Focus (hard to find)
Sacred Spell Focus (hard to find)
Insightful Spell Focus Mastery (hard to find)
Insightful Potency
Quality Potency
Exceptional Spell Power, Exceptional Lore
Force, Light, Alignment, Poision Absorb
Spell Saves and Insightful Spell Saves

The People's Champion
After looking at the loot list, there's an item type that appears to be missing - trinkets. Anyone else find them?

I like the warblade armors, robes and docents with improved demonic shield for the legendary version.

However i feel it should be legendary demonic shield. (240 instead of 120)

Since the diabolist ring a level 30 item has legendary demonic shield...

Just a note, but could we maybe get some better names for these things?

I hate seeing "named" items with lazy names (I think this is why i dislike the ferrocrystal ___ et al. weapons).

Wisdom: "Sehanine's Dream"
Intelligence: "Labelas's Tome"
Strength: "Vandria's Tear"
Charisma: "Hanali's Mirror"
Constitution: "Tarsellis's Flint"
Dexterity: "Corellon's Needle"

Like, that's me after 2 minutes on https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Seldarine.
