Update 75 Preview 3 - Dark Gift Shrine

Using a shrine in the wilderness sounds like a cool acquisition method! I was afraid the Gift Feats would be totally gated behind feat slots, which would make them a struggle to fit in.

Needing a special items for this is a reasonable requirement. I would like to see additional acquisition methods beyond Saga reward though. Making it a rare drop in chests seems reasonable - that way you get excited when it drops, but if it doesn't you know you can get it at the very end when you're done all the quests.

I am concerned about the regular Offering only being available by playing the heroic content. I myself tend to skip the heroic expansion content while leveling so I can enjoy it in Legendary (and not bloat my bank with the Heroic loot I would be incentivized to hoard). At minimum I'd like to see a trade-down system for Greater Offerings to instead count as regular offerings so you can obtain the base feats.

It could also be cool if we could "offer" existing rare items in order to gain the offering token. Such as:
  • A +4/8 Stat Tome
  • A suitably sized Siberys Dragonshard (or pile thereof)
  • X number of Curse Cards
  • Threads of fate
  • Stacks of the pack crafting ingredients
  • The party's Halfling
Both offering types are available in the legendary saga list, I'll clarify that in the post.

Actually that could be fun: Have one player sacrifice themselves on the alter to give everyone nearby a random dark gift for 30 min while they're in the Wilderness ☠️

Edit: Maybe PVP could be enabled within a certain zone near the shine, which would also let you sacrifice hirlings for the temp buff.

I haven't tested to see if stuff is fixed yet for base dark pacts, but if not:
Bug report 418961
Bug report 418959

23) Mist Walker (Dark Gift feat):
A) It gives a -50% movementspeed debuff for 2s when you use it.
B) In terms of its drawback, instead of causing exhaustion, it instead applies the Spell Critical Multiplier penalty from Minion of the Eldritch, except it's not -1% per 2 levels, but -10% per 2 levels.
26) Touch of Death (Dark Gift) is providing +5 Negative Spellpower & Negative Amplification per level, instead of the listed +3.
27) Form of Pain (Dark Gift) is providing +3 PRR/MRR per stack instead of the listed +2.

And maybe more. If this stuff was already fixed and not in the lam notes, then you can ignore.

There's an easily acquired deathblock augment that can still be used at cap
yeah, overall death block is such a weird choice, especially considering the book version of Touch of Death includes
Inescapable Death. When you hit a target with an attack roll and deal necrotic damage, you ignore the target's resistance to that damage.

Every negative focused caster build, (DA, Abyss Pact, Pale Master) is in dire need of a way to deal with negative immunity and this would perhaps be the perfect thematic place to get it, along with it also having the downside of being borderline unhealable by positive energy.
Making immunity bypass accessible in such a manner would be a massive relief for a long struggling category of casters.

Yes a million times yes 🙌 🙌🙌🙌
Being unhealable will be annoying but think for many it’s worth it

Yes, I'll update the post on that
Losing the Dark gift when TR make it unappealing to me. You need to redo all that again and again each life to get the Item that will let you get the Gift.. is just not a Gift. Its a chore. Please make it permanent.

  1. TR'ing will remove the gift and a new offering will need to be made to restore it
I assume this happens on any kind of reincarntion(LR/ER/TR), not just a TR; the same way I lose my reaper wings temporary feat by doing any of those things.

Totally disagree. It’s a bonus thing not a must have. It’s like favour bonuses. If it’s gone on a lesser or epic TR i would keep it with those but it should reset on full TR since it’s a new life to make a bargain with

Not related to the post itself, but it's strange that the OP doesn't appear in the staff tracker but the bump post does.
I remember bringing this up years ago. Dev response was that they don't always flag their stuff to appear in the dev tracker. This time is probably more a mistake/oversight than deliberate though.

Just finished doing some stuff, hopped on lam, and they're not fixed on this build; I'm still getting slowed for 2s every time on mist walker (and get hit with negative spell crit damage which is eldritch's negative effect). The eldritch one is doing 10x the values it should be:

So if they are fixed in some build, it's not a version we're seeing.

In this preview players can find the Shrine to the Mists in the Lamordia Landscape. This shrine allows any player the possibility of acquiring a dark gift or for legendary players, to upgrade a dark gift...
For those who don't know where the shrine is - it is in the South-Eastern part of the map near the "Temple Pass" waypoint.
It took me too long to find

Edit: Where do you get the proper offering to test and how to be auto-flagged for the Legendary Saga to get the legendary dark gift upgrade?

I think it's fine if the Gift isn't troublesome to obtain. Just life favor rewards, you play to earn them.

I do think completing a saga every life (or finishing it multiple times to stockpile the offerings) is cumbersome. I'd like to see it be easier and not tied only to the Sagas.

I think people are going to be upset that the Heroic feat means a tradeoff with the Saga XP. It makes sense for the Legendary upgrade, since saga rewards at cap are less valuable, but can the Heroic version be a favor unlock instead? Otherwise I think most people are still going to say "screw it" and just take the chunk of XP instead.

A 1 mission boost of XP against a bonus for the rest of your character's life? And you think "most" people will take the XP? really?
