VIP perk: no chest ransack

Thanks

Probably only con is people running that quests 250 times straight for rare loot. That is a choice though.
Perhaps x2 ransack resets per month though (would be nice accumulative per VIP year but not holding out hope). That would possibly get more people signing up for VIP.

People will do things against their better common sense, get burned out, and quit. Chest ransack might exist simply to stop some of the bad behaviors that can occur in MMOs. It also acts a barrier vs social pressures to help others get stuff, since there's a hard cap per week for chest attempts.

What happened to the Ransack pots that were a great idea? Maybe put one of those on the VIP Bag of Many Things as an option.

Sociologically, bad idea. Encourages self-destructive behavior, as fox says.

On the other hand, this would make me more likely to sign up for VIP.
(And then I would burn out in a month.)

Rather than eliminating Ransack for VIPs, it might make more sense to shorten the timer from a week to, say, 2 or 3 days. I don't think SSG wants people to just sit farming the same quests for hours and hours and hours...

Also the Ransack timer encourages players to group: more people means more chances for rare loot drops.

"It would be cool to have this," is very different from "My character will be inadequate/underperforming until I get this."
Not getting the thing ("needing" to repeat) and progress being 0 until the thing is received - likely a major source of burnout.

better that those players make many alt accounts and run them 8x each, rather than run the one character over and over

Seems like adults could police themselves here rather than us assuming no-one is capable of doing that. Removing the ransack limit for some of us might mean running a saga nine times per week rather than eight or eight hundred.

That being said SSG might suspect this would cut into shards purchased for rerolls so I don't see this changing. If it were added it would certainly make VIP more attractive for me when I am sitting at cap.

Just remove ransack timers ...

Say you have 10 decent alts

you can still hit a chest 80 times today

and i doubt you only need 1 item

so tomorrow hit that other chest 80 times

etc etc

Can not just run 1 chest 80 times on the same toon? Whats the difference?

i hate ransack, what does WOW do with rare loot?

Its rare and you cant change how rare it is or how often you can try to farm it. The most you can do is have a bunch of toons and try to farm on all of them.

Adults can not police themselves. Literally most of human civilization turned to a hyper consumeristic hellhole in the last 50 years BECAUSE of that. Our inability to curb our desires for "stuff" is driving us to extinction right now.

No offense against you, i'm sure most people will limit quest repeation simlly out of boredom but in general i think these barriers are important. People do ruin their lives and have even died due to addictive behaviors. Even if there are easy ways around it i think it's good to have some basic safety infrastructure in place.

These are absurd and unsupportable generalisations. I can police myself just fine, both within the game and outside of it, and I'm sure you can too.

I don't spend all day playing, nor do I spend my time outside the game bothering every pretty woman I see, shoplifting, burning down buildings that look like eyesores to me, and cracking open the heads of people who annoy me to feast on the tasty goo within. Why is that you ask? Because I can police myself, that's why!

If you believe any of your claims you should be leading the fight for limits on hours per day logged in and daily spending limits. Because you know right now people can play DDO 24 hours a day and spend absurd amounts of money on it too.

Since the issue of ransack can already be circumvented with some investment in alts and multiboxing I'm genuinely not seeing what all this pearl clutching is about. Chest rerolling plus rare loot is a far more insidious mechanic, one basically designed to prey on people who have problems with impulse control, so that might be a better place to start objecting.

Ever read any post of mine about shards and rerolls. That's illegal in europe (and south korea) for a reason.

How many hours a day and per week would you say you play?

Do you buy a lot of points ? Just when on sale or as needed ?

Do you buy all the special offers ?
