VIP reward track bugs

Bug Report Number:

I filed a bug report a few months ago about how dying removes the VIP buffs from the buff bar (bug report #380123 - still not fixed).

As one can see in the before and after here, the 10% item wear perk also vanishes from the character sheet + tab. The VIP crafting reward when the buff bar icon is removed on death still allows one to collect VIP reward tickets (not sure if the crafting XP bonus works or doesn't work).

Now today, I claimed the 1% loot boost reward. It too vanishes from the buff bar on death. But more importantly I don't even know if it's actually giving me the 1% loot boost. As per this picture I'm now getting 20% item wear protection:

So I have to ask the basic question, did someone copy paste the item wear buff code for the new VIP reward? Am I actually getting a loot boost or is it bugged? I have zero way as a player to actually know if the loot boost is working (outside some crazy level of looting and doing statistics).

And here you can see the 20% item wear bonus vanishing on death:

this seemed to be common knowledge. why is it just now getting acknowledged?
Well, the bug I found today is an addition to the old on death bug (as it seems I'm getting double item wear buffs and likely no loot boost).

Put in a ticket today for the "It appears the VIP reward track 1% discovery reward is providing 10% durability ward and likely no loot boost" bug. Bug report #387859
(Posting this here since I can only have one ticket number on the main post's bug report number spot)

Sane people would wonder why instead of fixing these things on a "per buff/effect" basis, they don't fix the underlying core mechanic responsible for applying the effects/buffs that gets bugged so they'd never have to worry about it again, eh? Instead though, they seem happy to constantly repeat their shoddy coding practices.

I call it shoddy coding practices because at this point, repeatedly replicating the same bugs every time you add something new to the game when you know said bugs exist is more than just a *bug*, it's poor coding practices and lack of process automation at a minimum.

I've worked in IT a long time. If I have to repeatedly fix the same problem, I either find and fix the root cause or if that's not a viable option for *reasons*, I at least document and automate the process/fix so I don't have to keep wasting time manually doing it over and over again.

Oh wow! Another Copy+Paste exercise gone wrong due to not doing any QA before release... Never seen that before!
But the tooltip for the buff has proper spelling this time. You can have one but you cant have both

A couple months ago when I bug reported the buffs going away on death (the + tab showing the 10% durability getting lost), I didn't give it much thought beyond that. I really didn't care about the durability ward in the first place to feel any personal rush for it getting fixed.

But when the new 1% loot boost appeared to be giving the wrong buff, I started caring. It generally looks like someone copied the 10% durability ward, renamed the buff on the buff bar, but didn't change what the buff does. Sure, it might be giving 10% durabiliy + 1% loot boost, but my money says it's just giving 10% durability with zero loot boost.

And since they want to hide anything related to loot chances... we'll never know for sure! (And that mean's they'll never know cause guess who does their QA for them?)

I hope beyond fixing the bugs here that SSG looks into their QA procedures and tools. I catch and report a lot of bugs in this game but it's a comedy of errors that even let me notice the full extent of the 1% loot buff issue. If the VIP buffs disappearing on death had been fixed a couple months ago with the 1st bug report, then I likely wouldn't have noticed that I had bumped from 10% to 20% durability ward (when grabbing a video before making this post) and I totally wouldn't have realized that the loot boost claim probably gave me 10% extra durability. This could've gone unnoticed for a very long time (as players lack tools to detect many things) and players need good faith that QA will find those bugs before things go live.

Even after things get QA'd and reported by the players, their process for addressing these bugs takes way too long. You reported this issue on Saturday morning, it was not in yesterday's downtime fix, and Cordo mentioned that it likely won't be fixed in next week's patch. That's already going to be almost two weeks that this bug has been out (specifically relating to the VIP discovery boost) and months since the VIP crafting tokens and durability ward disappearing on death have been bugged.

Every single day is another reason to not log onto the game. Thank you.

(On a side note, besides the fact that some players don't play but browse the forums; I do wish this gets fixed ASAP.)

This is something they really need to fixify. I really don't care about the wear thingie, but I'll take any loot boost I can get (even a scrawny 1% one!)
Sure would be nice if we can get confirmation on this since we have to take it on good faith that this is working properly. 🙁
