Can confirm that at least on Sarlona, Voice chat is not working after the update.

Had 6 ppl (7 including myself) state that voice chat is not working properly... Name lights up and goes on and off, voice comes through, but crackly, and cuts off and on... Anybody else experience this on the other servers?

I have had the same problem.. everyone in my guild had to switch to an online voice server to be able to talk to each other

Hasn't worked for me since the update. Of course, since a recent MS patch, DDO doesn't detect my USB headphones either unless they are primary. Prior to a recent .NET update, DDO would detect all output/input devices. Now, only detects whatever Windows has set as the primary.

The in game chat hasn't been supported or updated properly in years. It's the 21st century, use discord.

It's simple download and has other tools besides a chat.

No thank you.

And for others note that discord has plenty of ways to track what you are doing so other players can track you and your analytics all outside of game so they would not be breaking the code of conduct in doing so.

I mean the fact that they named the program DISCORD should be enough for people to want to avoid this at all cost, not to mention if you do the research for where the ownership of discord is registered.

Just because somebody suggests you should jump off that bridge doesnt mean you have to.

I hate discord and you couldn't get me to download or install that again. I've been using TS for over 20 years now, but that's not point. The point is I like to interact with people in my party, and only about 1 out of 4 either has or uses Discord on a regular basis... I want to chat with the people in my group. It's not like i'm gonna stop in the middle of a pug and ask for someone's Discord server....

Agreed, hold strong and have your people hold strong dont be pushed or forced towards using discord. Stand like a rock in your stand against discord, i will be right beside you.

in game chat is rather ambiguous.. that could mean text as well.. I specified VOICE there Mr. Troll
Ambiguous from the subject, maybe. The linked thread is clearly talking about voice chat. But you do you and keep ignoring the thread Cordovan is responding to on the issue you claim to care about.

Lets just hope that the voice chat bug doesnt become as systematic as the ladder bug.

With its current implication, i have a few static groups that will play in silent mode and the rest of my game play will be solo which is not impacted. Either way my game time will dwindle the longer the bug exists and i have already started spending more time in Baldurs Gate.

Anyone out there have any good suggestions for similar pve action mmo games that would make a good replacement for DDO please feel free to let me know.

This particular bug has been around since at least 2015 for me. If headphones are not the primary I have to restart DDO after making them primary in Windows.

I think this is a combo reason for all of the crashing, sound, etc, problems lately that have been so hard to fix. There has to be some Microsoft change that effected USB, especially headphones. That, combined with openAL changes. Looking through old security bulletins, there are some changes based on exploits at the USB port. I wonder if the DDO sound crashing is tripping or overloading some variety of motherboards after these patches. Maybe there's a longer processing delay in Windows at the USB port? I've never gotten the sound bug to crash, but I have seen a rare "slowdown", or hitch. It's possible that different combo's or quality/random hardiness of motherboards could react differently.

This might be valid if the loss of the ability to use in game chat didnt actually coordinate with the wednesday downtime and patch. The patch obviously broke something with in game chat.

i'm surprised that in 3 days no one else has reported this before now.

Tsotate was just answering your ambiguous comment with a link to one of the original threads where others had indeed already reported the issues, and in which Cordovan had responded.

That you immediately responded with pedantry and an ad hominem attack says a lot more about you than it does them.
