Voice Chat not working after update?

Can confirm that at least on Sarlona, Voice chat is not working after the update.

Had 6 ppl (7 including myself) state that voice chat is not working properly... Name lights up and goes on and off, voice comes through, but crackly, and cuts off and on... Anybody else experience this on the other servers?
Hasn't been working for anyone in my guild on Sarlona or my friends guild either. We have to do everything by typing like in the 80's. Figured by now they would have fixed it and even reloaded the game and sound .dll with no luck.

Hasn't worked for me since the update. Of course, since a recent MS patch, DDO doesn't detect my USB headphones either unless they are primary. Prior to a recent .NET update, DDO would detect all output/input devices. Now, only detects whatever Windows has set as the primary.
Noticed that on mine also and had to update drivers on both patches on 28th and 29th to play the game.

i'm surprised that in 3 days no one else has reported this before now.
They probably assumed it was the corrupt OpenAL32.dll issue from before that the Raptor sound triggered and a patch or writing over the bad dll would fix it. It does not fix this bug and seems specific to the Chat server. We have all logged off early or some have not played since the patch because this is so obnoxious.

Couldn't edit my previous post.. Ok copying over the OpenAL files TEMPORARILY fixed the issue but not the bug where every patch you have to repeat the process. We need a permanent fix.

I followed the instructions for copying over the OpenAL files. 64bit client, voice chat doesn't work (or at least the mic test doesn't work). Switched to 32bit client, and the mic test works. So .. did the devs mis-type some variable in the 64bit version that's supposed to hook into the 32bit dll?

Oh look, the devs voices arent working either!

I just downoaded and played swtor all day, too easy and generic with way too many cut scenes and vack and forth to chat to people.

Anyone have any good suggestions for a game that is free to play is live action with pve that they would recommend to play, since i cant see myself playing all that much with the voiceless ddo.

We have been investigating and working towards a resolution since Wednesday when this first started being reported to us, as I've explained in earlier threads on this subject.

That you are implying you are working towards a resolution suggests that you have found the problem, is that correct??

At the moment we have not been able to discover a reproducible set of steps or hardware profiles causing an issue, so the cause remains under investigation other than it's presumably/probably related to OpenAL. So, wouldn't hurt for people to provide information about their setups in bug reports specifically through help.standingstonegames.com. We continue to work on a resolution.

So, short version: We've seen it inconsistently ourselves, but we are not yet able to repro or find an immediate solution.

So seeing as what you did on wednesday to change OpenAL is likely the problem, how about you go bask to what you had before wednesday and let all the players that use in game chat get back to using in game chat.

As for the change you made which was probably designed to solve the raptor scream problem, i suggest maybe changing the scream or just turning it off, my solution that stopped the crashing problem for the raptors was going to 32 bit and i could then still play with sound versus turning the sound off.

Also since Raptors are causing such an issue it might be a good suggestion to not use them when designing any future content until the problem is solved.

Thanks in advance for your hard-work on this issue!!

I said this when the sound crash problem first happened. Why not just go back to whatever files used right before? Crickets.

Time to take a break from the game till they figure out what's going on.

This break will be free for VIP's.

Admittedly I've just gone over to using discord since the issue popped up. I know some don't like discord for various reasons, but it does run pretty slick and make for a good group chat with your party.

I do recommend giving it a try as it only takes so little time to set up.
