That is fair but people should be able to ask a question without fear of being banned by a heavy-handed administrator.

a suggestion here.
have 2 or 3 senior mods so that personality conflicts don't lead to irrational bannings - especially if it will link forum or in game bans
another suggestion: who mods the mods? hypothetical situation: hob makes a joke thats seems to reference mod1s mum wearing military footwear. however it was autocorrect that made it so mod1 and hob have in game history of conflict. hob gets banned and has no recourse. would like game/forums/discord all separate but there should be a path to argue. if 3 or mods agree hob was impinging mod1s mum, then yes ban but being heavy handed will drive people away from discord/forums etc

Unfortunately the reality of today is forums and discord will be moderated to drive whatever narrative is wanted by the gaming company behind it. They are no longer a place for truth speaking, discussion or criticism of current in game situations itself. Criticism is considered negative and thereby breaks the code of conduct of almost every forum out there. The only way to truly have an open conversation is by getting to know people and contact them outside the parameters of forums, by doing such the people involved in that group can not be moderated/censored/controlled by any such forces.
So as per my boyfriend, I suggest you pm the people you want to congregate with and set up a time to meet in game and then exchange real life contact info. Gaming companies are NOT YET able to moderate your phone texts or phone conversations as these are your private devices and you are not required to agree to some code of conduct when doing things privately.
Discords code of conduct will allow moderators to easily ban anyone they want to silence and keep the narrative exactly where they want it.
So in regards to the original post, i will not be using discord nor be offering up my free time to moderate it, wish you all the best and fruitful success in driving your narrative as you see fit.

I am not expecting mods to irrationally ban people just because they are volunteers, but all volunteer mods will be able to be removed as moderators by me, so we'll deal with individual personality disputes and conflicts as we need to.

Threw my hat in the ring as I'm always on discord to begin with. Will be interesting to see how this discord turns out.
(eh, I know I haven't seen eye to eye with several people, but that wouldn't affect any moderation from me if I somehow was selected. clear guidelines and I'd be good to go. would be cool to support this effort.)

This reads like someone just discovered the internet. There will be overzealous mods exceeding their brief on Day 1.

Cordovan said on today's Fridays at Four stream that he's hoping to have it up by the launch of Myth Drannor. They still have to finish selecting the mods, contact them, and get their info over to the Daybreak legal department so they can issue them their non-disclosure agreements.

An update: On today's Fridays at Four, Cordovan said that the DDO Discord is pretty much done and ready to go, all they are waiting for is the non-disclosure agreements to come back from Daybreak's legal department signed by the moderators. Cordovan is hoping to get those back early next week in time for the launch of Myth Drannor, but it really depends on getting those NDAs back on when the Discord launches.
Cordovan said that they've done some testing on the Discord to make sure permissions and accesses to channels are working correctly, and that the Discord will include multiple chat channels, including ones for servers and for individual classes.

I am largely behind the scenes now (mostly because giving detailed and well thought out feedback in this game became a lost cause and ultimately a waste of time). But I'm chiming in on this one, as these continued pleas for free labor are really amusing to me. Super excited to see how this one pans out
