I would expect with the servers moving so far west, the performance from Europe would be tough to deal with. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle it. The current servers might as well be in my backyard. I ping between 6 and 10 right now. While going up to 50 or 60 doesn't sound bad, I'm likely to see a noticeable difference in performance.
Yeah, exactly. I can live with the current 110-120ms, but it's not always fun. So going up to 170-180 would be nasty. It's not fun at that point, for me anyway.

If you have a guild with east coast US players and Euro players the obvious choice is Moonsea. The ping from say NY to Las Vegas is almost the same as the ping from NY to Amsterdam.

So, east coast US players may actually have a choice to make in that sense. Far more of a choice than Euro players that should obviously go to Moonsea if ping matters for them.

Being in the US, I'd REALLY like to move onto the most popular server. I'd like to play with largest player base. I believe that would be Cormyr, you already have a strong player base there. While the other 2 will be new.

All US Players should move to Cormyr to make it the ultimate server!

Cormyr > Oerik/Thrane
It won't be cormyr. A lot of name shenanigans happened there and the server also has been subject to lots of updates and testing. I think most US players will prefer a clean slate.

I struggle with this badly at the moment. I don't think I could go up to the 200 I have on Cormyr, 120 of Khyber was manageable but Cormyr is noticeably worse. Dunno what I'll do, probably continue my current absence from the game in indecision.

Lol. That won't likely happen but you can keep hoping you get the east coast crowd.

While the clean slate would be nice, id sacrifice my name to be on a server with more than 2 LFG's up for level 30+ only.

For the testing wise, I'd like to assume SSG would do the right thing and keep all servers equal for upgrades and performance.

Is it not possible, and maybe better, to just move an entire server at one time? Let's say that Khyber goes down for maintenance on Wednesday, and when the maintenance is over, Khyber is no longer there because all of the characters have been transferred to a new 64 bit server. Would this not be easier and safer for everyone?

I am stating objective fact. You are the one trying to play mind games to influence people. Have fun.
We don't know how the ping will be from USE people to Moonsea, though you are likely in the ballpark with the ~120 assumption.

So they could play with the EU group that plays 9 hours later than them at your stated slightly worse ping OR they could play with everyone from the US who speaks English and plays at the same normal time they play at with a slightly better ping.
And I'm playing mind games and not speaking facts... ok champ.

They seem to want to leave old and deprecated toons, names, guilds, etc on the ghost realms to not clutter the new realms.

The real question is what is the appropriate hedge to make sure individual server problems don't lock you out for a few days to a week when they happen?

Vets of Wayfinder will understand the potential issue.

I'm thinking Cormyr for most of the mains. Another US server for the rest and maybe Wayfinder to Moonsea for a 3rd option.

This was probably eliminated because they actually want to reduce the data in their system. There are a LOT of accounts that are many many years old that have not played in a very long time. This process creates choice and makes the data clean(er). And it frees up names.

My 2 cents. I'm thinking there may be some unintended consequences when transferring to Cormyr. Since alot of us already have characters on that server, will the transfer override our shared bank/astral shards/mount stables/companion stables....etc that we already have on Cormyr? Will it add to? Will what's already there take precedence? Did the Devs even consider this?

I initially voted Cormyr...but now maybe rethinking that.

Will Japanese players go to EU or USA?

I love running with those guys. Great players, and more importantly, wonderful folks to a person. Be sorry to lose that experience. 🇯🇵❤️👍

If it's the same name, no. You will be a Name-1,-2-,3 etc.

For the Shared Bank that is a good point but I could see it being a Reincarnation Cache type move. Everything will be added to a temporary cache and can only retrieve it not store in it. This should not overlap anything. All other parts should have no issues consolidating.

Well if you have a guild made up of mostly East Coast and European players, the European server might be the best compromise for that guild if they want to stay together. It may not be the best for individuals, but if keeping your guild together is the plan, that might be the best one.
