I suggest playing on Cormyr now, then create a character on Moonsea on July 9th . Then you can compare playability. QOS can make pings misleading due to how routers manage IMCP packets.

Agreed. I think the Euro server will be very much like wayfinder in the end. Most of the European population has been playing with the Asia, Australia, and the Americas for years.
Keep coping. Only 1 EU server means it will be the most populated server. GL with your 3 US servers. 2 of them will end up dead.

In LOTRO, they only opened one European server, and it ended up being so full that it nearly crashed, and they had to open a second one.

DDO isn't LOTRO, but I highly doubt it's going to be an empty server. It will have a very healthy population.

^^^^ this.

I think SSG underestimated Lotro and overestimated DDO.

We need 2 US servers at most. Cormyr should NOT violate being a fresh-start server as created and agreed upon in good faith between SSG and the players.

300ms ? that's a lot !
From which country more precisely ?
Sweden. Though... 300 was the worst time I saw, while it fluctuated between 250-300 ms. It was some day after Cormyr got accessable for non-vips the first time, so there was a lot of players online.

I really hope this is true. The biggest threat the US has is that we divide our population between 3 servers and end up back with the same low population problems the game had before the great migration to Orien and Argo. Hopefully most players in the US pick a server and all move to the same place. I'm planning on waiting until August to move to the most populated server and I won't be hoarding any of my names by creating characters early so any name I have is free for other people to take. What matters most is a large population, not what you call me.

Quite surprised by the result of this poll.

I am going to keep my pinch of salt to hand, I dont think all polls on here are a 100% accurate representation of the playerbase, but it is an indicator nonetheless.

How many people voted that have already made Cormyr their new home?

There is no way I will be moving to Cormyr. The stuff I already have there from the Mists event is an obstacle, and given that most people I have asked in game said they wont be going Cormyr either, it is easy for me to rule out.

In my mind, Cormyr is a failed experiment. The so-called evolution from VIP-only to sometimes available to non-VIPs to no transfers to vanilla server made the whole thing a mess. They tricked people into making it their forever home, and now those people want to stay there. This is NOT how you get a server off the ground. If SSG never made it VIP only, it would have been relegated to a glorified 64 bit Lammania equivalent already. Hopefully those people have not and will not move their old mains there, and send those alts to Thrane or Moonsea so they are still established on 2 servers, but of course it is their choice. They said they made Cormyr the default server for new accounts so maybe that slow trickle will help it but I can not see it being in the debate for highest pop ever. Time will tell.

I seriously doubt that more than half of the playerbase will end up on Moonsea, but we will see wont we.

As I said before, I'm in England. I run on Thelanis. I know some players from the UK but most of the people I know or run with are from the US no doubt about it.

If I had my way, every single US player who hasnt already set base on Cormyr, would default to Thrane. That way we will have 2 main servers (Thrane and Moonsea). Setting up on 2 servers isnt that big of a deal, so even though there are still dividing lines it would become less of a factor, given that a lot of us already have alts on Cormyr.

This is our chance to create megaservers ourselves people. We will never get a chance like this again ever. But we have to work together if we want it, rather than go back and forth on "why didn't you choose this" etc etc. No point in disagreeing with people saying they wont go to Oerik because of the name, the point is they arent going there.

The playerbase needs to come together to keep this game alive long term.

It hasn't been fresh start for months now

Strategically and for the sake of Asia and Aussie, it would have been better to settle the US-servers in Hawaii.
May be the EU-server in Iceland ? (There is also Santa Cruz in the middle of the Atlantic, but I doubt they have the infrastructure)

If you strategically want to give everyone on the planet a poor connection to your game, they should follow your advice. Or you can pick the 2 places where the vast majority of your players are located and put your servers there.
