If the game goes VIP only they will make a lot less money. DDO already had a mandatory monthly sub and had to go free to play, that was about 17 years ago.

Plenty of premium members who are spending money but not paying for VIP.
It should have stayed that way. I'm sure there are people spending money, but I'm also sure there are freeloaders, who do nothing to help keep the business alive.

The game wouldn't exist any longer if they didn't go to a free to play model. I hated it at the time, especially because they made it easier in the same update, but it saved the game. Just because someone isn't VIP doesn't mean they don't pay or support the game at all. Personally I think you should pay to support the game you play so I was always VIP. But I cut that off earlier this year because I'm unhappy about certain things. But I have bought points a couple times, though not at the level I normally would have. Until I see some improvements, that is not going to change.

Perhaps the cause of the lag is Freeloaders :ROFLMAO: . Several of them filling the DDO. Freeloaders can contribute indirectly by simply playing the game. I've never been a VIP (price in my country is impractical), I started as a Freeloader and now I'm Premium, despite only buying the basic versions of the expansions, the other items such as packs buy with DDO points acquired with favor.
