What are peoples thoughts on the Producers Letter for the 20th Anniversary Year?

Duergar - the Dwarves whose racial ability is to become... taller lol

I'm here for it.
Duergar were introduced in the early 80s in the first edition monster manual 2. They had similar traits on sunlight and light vulnerabilities like the drow. Their main thing was being Psionic. I wonder what they will do with it.

As a curiosity side note: striking similarity between "Duergar" and the Swedish word for Dwarfs (pl): "Dvärgar"

I'd preferred getting playable kobolds, but I'll give the Duergar a chance.

I agree, Stanger Things of course uses D&D lore.

Think about it,.though. What does Vecna have to do with Isle of Dread?

If the lich in Stranger Things was Acererak from the Tomb of Horrors, instead of Vecna, that would have been who the mysterious stranger was.

If Stranger Things went with Orcus instead of Demogorgon in the show, Orcus would be in the producer letter, rather than who is n the show.
Ok. But who even cares?

Immediate guesses regarding Trickster:

* Archetype of Rogue, replacing either Mechanic or Assassin (if it replaces Mechanic, it'll be better, so I'm thinking it'll replace Assassin)

* Reduced Sneak Attack growth compared to Rogue, I'd guess 1/3 growth instead of delayed 1/2 that regular rogue gets, because that's what they did for Dark Hunter

* Spells that do force damage, meaning they're worse than other options

* Some method of adding sneak attack dice to spells, probably on a cooldown similarly to Shadowdancer's Paranoia. Is it going to be good? Probably not, I'm almost certain it'll be janky though, and assuming it does stack with Paranoia, it might actually give them some decent burst windows (Highly speculative, but considering how they love to reuse stuff, I would do this if I were them)

* Some (read, probably at most four) new spells that are not making it back to the other Arcane lists, therefore making Archmage even more useless.

* Intended to be a class that actually wants what's in Shadowdancer.
Well, I'm right about 1, 3, 4, and 6, but not 2 or 5.

2 was half right, with the 50% Sneak Attack scaling, and 5 was technically right since they get a bunch of Hand 'spell like abilities' that are just glorified CC.

I will absolutely play Duergar and Arcane Trickster. Modern Drow is draft sexy. Superb call back to the deck of many things. Demogorgan? Yes. YES!

1) Why did it take so long to write ? There is literally nothing to read.
2) "last year" blah blah blah who really cares, we know that already ! 🙄
3) Another super grindy boring anniversary event on top of the existing one ! Yeah, right. That is exactly what we need.
4) Another HC-fey-like-💩.
5) Nothing for epic levels
6) Nothing for spellcasters

Boring. Uninteresting. It takes away the desire to play.

Overall I think they gave the playerbase many things that have been asked for.

> Anniversary quiver
> Curse cleanser source (via remmy rolls - not bound, so they will be more accessible for community at large even if you don't have rems / get unlucky)
> More (limited) rare loot access (via remmy rolls)
> Duergar (requested many times - if not as often as kobold and perhaps gith/kalashtar stuff)
> Demon prince fight
> Arcane Trickster archetype (very common request)
> New anniversary dungeon stuff and better anniversary loot
> More lvl 20 sun/moon items
> New source of adding mythic / reaper boosts to items
> Some fixes (dh imbue; magus t5 save; dismissing strike) - these shoulda been fixed long ago, but better late than never.

Did they happen in a way "people" or you specifically whoever you might be - wanted them to? Not necessarily in all if any cases. But this is listening to community feedback whether we like it or not.

They mentioned caster balance stuff is on the table but didn't find a specific timeslot for it and thus it isn't in the calendar - but it's in "the works". So happens if it happens - hopefully it does, but ain't gonna be sending them sultry letters over it until we see something happen.

But people that say they don't listen to community feedback seeing this must be high. The type of person to ask someone to do the dishes or clean and when they do it they're doing it wrong and when they adjust it's too late and they want chicken nuggets yesterday. Just exhausting.

Well, I can´t say that I expected more, so I´m not disappointed.
But seeing that none of what I criticize about the game is even mentioned (like major bug fixes or a UI overhaul), I expect the usual minimum-effort copy-paste, more of the same stuff that we got in the past.

Nothing in there gets me excited or motivates me to play more in 2026, probably the opposite.

Edit: I would love to see me proven wrong though.

What I expected, and a bit more. I'm really glad they are looking at revamping older race graphics and animations
- I hope they have the foresight to make it easier to add emotes/social animations

Halforcs (and their PDK counterparts) are the most needed in the racial animation/graphics refurbishment.

They are so poorly done and ugly they literally drag the quality of the entire game down.

My speculation: they might buff them like they did back when they buffed acid spells for Blightcasters.
It would be great if they buffed some arcane spells, many of them haven't gotten a spell update pass to modern dice. Many of them also have arbitrary caster level restrictions (e.g. scorching ray maxes out at 11).

I feel like the pace of level cap increases is too fast. Zero reason to the buy the next expansion just like Vecna, MD, and Chill. Oh well.

i am pumped...when they announced archetypes Arcane Trickster was the first thing i thought of, and Duergar has been my first pick for new playable race since i started playing DDO in '09....so i am pretty stoked.
also as someone sitting on six digits of rems in my bank, i look forward to the new rem vendor option.
...and new content is always fun, if nothing else as a new place to explore and more shinies for my stash!!!

i am too happy DDO is still here and creating new content to poo poo everything they do because its not exactly they way i wanted them to do it .

Who said it will give cleansing cards ? 😁
Also, it's RANDOM. Totally random. Not a stable source, rather a machine to clog your inventory.

I think, the only reason they've added it, it's because remnants system is old.
People don't even pick-up remnants anymore since they have millions of them in their banks but have nothing to spend them on. So SSG created this casino to effectively take remnants away from people.

> More (limited) rare loot access (via remmy rolls)
Even more gem food ? Sure, we 'need' it.

> Duergar (requested many times - if not as often as kobold and perhaps gith/kalashtar stuff)
Who actually requested THIS ?! Oh, whatever. Races are boring.

> Demon prince fight
😴😴😴😴
Out of the Abyss is [one of] the worst 5ed modules, IMO.

> Arcane Trickster archetype (very common request)
Another boring, steal-from-BG3 thingy that won't work in DDO.

> New anniversary dungeon stuff and better anniversary loot
Now we have 2 dungeons to grind. YAY !
Also, did you see that loot ? Nothing is 'better' there.

> More lvl 20 sun/moon items
Instead of throwing this system away...

But this is listening to community feedback whether we like it or not.
Nope.
I'll believe they listen after the caster pass. GOOD caster pass, not another round of nerfs.
More epic dungeons.
Cosmetic storage, got rid of overpriced coffers and +100 free items slots for each of the expansion so we can store all the items those expansions brought into the game.

Before that, they don't even try to pretend they listen. For now, they do whatever they want and spit in the players' faces.
