What are peoples thoughts on the Producers Letter for the 20th Anniversary Year?

...would you believe I actually brought the chair thing up?

....and no, no we still can't let you sit in chairs. (but boy do I want it)
Okay, I don't fully know what the toolset for the in-game world of DDO looks like outside the dev diaries we saw a few years ago... but much like the /sleep emote that puts the character in a particular position on a surface to simulate a sleeping position, couldn't you put an interactive clickable on particular locations or particularly chosen objects such as chairs, benches, etc. that allows the characters to interact with the object by taking a seated position on the object? Is this a costs too much to animate issue or too much effort to replace non-interactable objects with interactable chairs etc. in specific locations issue? You could also create an emote that has the character pull out a "phantom" chair from our portable hole backpacks to sit anywhere.

As a curiosity side note: striking similarity between "Duergar" and the Swedish word for Dwarfs (pl): "Dvärgar"

I'd preferred getting playable kobolds, but I'll give the Duergar a chance.
I am currently playing a game that is Viking based, that was created by Swedish developers. It has variations of the dwarves you are talking about. Cool stuff!

There's a chunk of the playerbase that can't fathom spending money on DDO, yet still wants "more". SSG can't persist on rainbows and unicorn farts.
They had a fair amount of people that canceled VIP and deleted credit card and payment information due to security breaches, they never fully addressed or rectified. That is an issue.

That's the sort of thing that make people not spend money on the game.

just don't know how the SSG team is going to implement all 255 pages into probably 2+ raids, 2+ raid adventure zones and probably 15+ quests? I think that 255 pages covers more than 15 quests, LOL.
Have you actually read the producer's letter ? 😏
They are not going to recreate the whole module. Just a piece from the second part of the adventure. (So, no 'escape from the Underdark', yeah. Well, it was already clear that this part would not happen, even if the developers had not specified it.)

I like duergar as a playable race. Kobolds would be preferred but that's never gonna happen.

Arcane trickster is a guaranteed fail. It's a roleplaying class in a dps-zerg game. They're going to make noone happy.

I like the free stuff. Finally a quiver for my toons.

I like the remnant turn in. That has been needed for a long time.

Event is a meh for me.

I am VERY disappointed there are No mentions of the desperately needed caster pass and horribly outdated enhancement trees.

I care more about reviving ways to play than to do new content with the same xbow build.

My impression is that most of the event activities and planned additions are not for me, therefore I do not anticipate playing very much this year. The free Raider's Box is welcome. I will probably take a quiver for some third or fourth string character.

About the letter it self, its a lot of looking back and a bit of presenting what seems to me is in a state of done.
I mean, everything that is presented for Q1 is about as set as it could be.
Don't get me wrong, it is a lot of what they have set in the ready to launch blocks and seems to be of high quality.
I don't get the x and y axis of the pictures about the lag, the second picture that shows the situation after work has been done to lessen lag shows that there is lag in the same bandwidth along the y axis, so am wondering why that is.... what is being measured along that line.

For the roadmap:
When they go over drow I hope they manage to touch up those other races that have flaws in them as well.
Excited to try out arcane trickster, I hope we get some new illusion spells and the class some better abilities to do CC.
The deck of many things.... wowsers, I am very eager to get to know how this will pack out DDO-style.
We're going back to the underdark for the new expansion, am wondering what the wilderness area will be like and how it attaches to what we already have. I was hoping it would have been a new setting, but will take it and run along just fine.
Ok, Demogorgon.... a bit late to the StrangerThings party but am wondering what the artists take on it will be.
Am finally able to make a dual axes swinging duergar barbarian.... again this gets me excited.
I hope it comes in the usual two flavor package, one iconic and one normal.
Level 36 and they are ready for it by presenting level 36 items a half year early.... kudos for that!

I was hoping that they could squeeze in some new (Illusion) spells, universal tree, epic destiny, feats in there.

Overall a lot, and am pleased with what is promised so far.
I hope we'll get an interview somewhere in the summer where she is able to shine a light on the latter half of the year and foreshadowing Q1 of '27, as right now that is a bit to densely clouded in fog.

The xpac sounds promising (a lot more than Chill) but I'm not particularly excited about anything else. It doesn't help that the letter was so light on the details.

It's nice that dwarf players are finally getting a duergar option after all these years but the cynic in me suspects it was chosen by the devs because the visual assets already exist. Though maybe with the drow update we'll also get new dwarf visual options.

I doubt Arcane Trickster can be properly implemented in this game without taking some extreme liberties, at which point it'll be a trickster in name only.

There's nothing about VIP benefits/rewards other than a new mount; I guess that means more of the same.

Another awful lantern/lute event - no thanks unless I can run the hardcore portion on an existing character.
wouldn't be any kind of hard core if you could use an existing character

Why is it not hardcore? The threat of death and losing dozens of hours of progress on a lantern/lute/whatever is still a real possibility. It's certainly more hardcore than someone parking his fresh hc toon at a quest entrance while his box plays the quest and assumes all of the risk.

If SSG cared about providing a real hardcore experience then they wouldn't allow any pay to win to be used on hardcore toons; no store tomes, no xp pots, no chest rerolls for event flagged loot... nothing. Of course, the entire point of these events is to generate sales so that's never going to happen. I wouldn't mind these pay to win events if they were actually fun, but they're not and I doubt they ever will be.

how often do you die on your main character? on my main he pretty much never dies even when he's level 1 after a tr you're asking for free hard-core rewards
