What are the best bastard swords in the game?

Don’t forget Finality! lol

Ok it’s not a bsword per se, but. It’s a one-hander with strikethrough that can simultaneously benefit from SWF (and can be used while centered)

Isn't Thirteen considered uber with its 7-augment slots and all alignment/Material bypasses? I have one but I have no idea how to slot it. All ruby eyes? All elemental damage rubies? A combination? So torn.

Here's what I did with it. This is from two years ago. I still use it on my SWF Fighter 20 (which I recently converted into a Dragon Lord). I replaced the Sapphire of Greater Heroism with a Sapphire of Stunning +16 which really helped out my Dragon's Roar. I re-slotted the GH augment on different piece of equipment.

The best heroic bastard sword is spinal tap, hands down. It has increased critical multiplier and does 1d11 (lol) damage. Just pay attention it's piercing damage but uses imp critical slashing. Thirteen looks the part but it's more of a 'play dress up' than actually effective. I slotted mine with topaz of evocation, topaz of swiftness 10, rubies of meteoric/erosion/force, accuracy +12, globe of blood

Now for epic/legendary, whichever crafting system bastard sword you want to craft be it lgs, dino, lamordian, whatever next expansion will have etc. Sadly all those augment slots thirteen has barely amount to one 'crafted augment' on r10s (except maybe one or two, which you can slot on your weapon slots anyway).

My favourite on my artie is a dolled out epic chimera's fang for the lols.

Ignition is great with high attack speed from vanguard. I have all the other weapons and this one is best for most situations. Thirteen could be better for bosses though.

If the OP is going to sword and board it, this would be my recommendation.

Here's mine:

Wow that is very well put togethere weapon, how do you find it when up against fire immune / Resistant mobs?

Do you swap to something else?

I really like this range of weapons but the Dripping in Magma and 3rd degree burns abilities really puts me off making one?

Also how useful is vorpal in legendary, ive seen mixed opinions on it. Now that alot of mobs have bloated hp unless your in the
wilderness most mobs have over 10K hp at least.

The fire damage is nice, but not the most important thing about it. It's the debuffing (Vulnerability granted by the 3rd Degree Burns power and the Legendary Dust power that I added at the Ritual Table) that are the most useful. Of course, there are plenty of mobs that aren't immune to fire so Dripping and 3rd Degree should help out a lot against those.

The Sovereign Vorpal's vorpal power itself isn't that useful really. It's the extra 0.5 W of damage and the 300 HP of extra damage on a non-vorpal Vorpal strike that's important for that power.
