What does "Be R10 capable" even mean?

Nobody runs R1-3. Like I said its mostly 6+ which is fine on older easier content, but on newer content I just get 1 shot and its no fun.
I literally just said I know a lot of people who do run those difficulties, but they tend to stick to within their guilds (random people joining trying to bump the difficulty on them is annoying after all). Hence the question: are you in a guild? There are solutions to your problems.

About 10 heroic past lives and 9 epic
Getting completionist for Heroic lives is pretty easy and is a nice bonus, you only need one past life per class for that. You can also build on that by getting more heroic past lives appropriate for your class/build.

I know how to play the game and avoid damage, but eventually youre going to take a hit, then its all over.
Sure one-shots are going to happen. In fact, I would amend @Ying post from "Don't get one shot" to "Don't get one shot *often*".

When you say you know how to play the game and avoid damage, are you being completely honest with yourself? Do you know how to avoid damage in R1 or in R10? I ask this question because on my inquis, I am a squishy-ish player with below average talent on the keyboard. I don't die a whole lot in R10. I get one shot occasionally, but usually have just enough HP/defense to survive a typical ranged attack. I try never to use AOE unless there is a tank or beefy melee that firmly has aggro or if it is for clean up on a pack that has already taken a lot damage (gotta swipe some kills, lol). If I am attacking a single target, I make sure I have hunts end off timer so I know the mob will be dead before they get two shots on me (the first will be deflected). When I die, it is almost always because I was not skillful enough to avoid it or because I was not paying attention (sometimes I can't see the venge circle, and sometimes I just wasn't paying enough attention, haha).

I know that my HP (about 3K in reaper), is not too far off what many good ranged players have, but the good ones are far more aggressive and still survive...I am not unhappy, they are better on the keyboard.

I have no interest in restricting myself to exclusively private guild only groups, though I do enjoy them sometimes. I always enjoyed pugs but those days are over.

You know you don't have to restrict yourself to one or the other. If you're in a large guild you can run with them when they are around, and (try to) run with randoms when they are not. To me that sounds like more options, not less (especially when you say you are getting very few / no groups with randoms). But whatever, you do you. Good luck.

The option to join a R10 pugs and get one shot was always there, I realize that. Thanks for your insights.

Those LFMs are put up by members of a specific guild from a specific server. When they are running leveling quests they zerg, pull agro and leave mobs behind. They leave the quest as soon as they are done unless there is loot they want.

In R10's they zerg, pull agro, die and then start throwing out blame. You should ignore those LFM's.
This is the arrogant behavior that bugs me the most. R10, two people ran ahead of everyone to get to the end boss to finish the quest quicky. Two of us are trying to catch up but they left all the mobs behind which were slowing us down. Then I was the one to be blamed cause the two of them died and I was asked why I was not healing. Sorry, you can pound your behavior on your keyboard. If you wanna run ahead of everyone on R10, you get what you get, 0 healing, and plenty of silly deaths.

Yup definitely zero difference in players that are souls stones all quest and those that are never soul stones.

Good point, well made.

Ill let you guess which one i am...and if you are the other what difference does it make. It gets done....rxp is earned....loot is acquired.

Ill take the best....ill take the worst.....doesnt matter...its a game...have fun.

If it matters to you maybe your not as good as you think.

Yes but that is just bad behavior by others. Its a problem regardless of difficulty or reaper. Thats just people being bad. Im not against zerging..but doing it to others without notice or concern...especially when not your group (obviously if its your group and you advise 'we zergin' thats great). Some players just dont function well in social setttings like pugs.

When you say you won't join a group on the forums people show up and tell you people can play how they want for some reason. I want to not join this LFM.

I joined an R10 Feywild group over a year ago on my 4K hp, 120ish DC assassin. It was a group that included 3 1500hp Bards and a FS. I was asked if I could run R10s by the leader. I looked at the group and responded, “yes, but I can’t solo them.”

Turns out they did no dps and even more surprising to me, no healing. I had the grace to dc from the group and log into another R10 capable toon.

If your build is flexible, can try running a rage build; Shifter or a Barb dip will allow you to proc Blood Feast with a 5-piece sentient swap (20k SXP) which gives 1400 temps for 10 mins (blocks casting and Precision during the rage, but after your rage times out you keep the temp HP if unused). Since you typically are looking to burst mobs as well, running Affirmation (Dino etc) on you weapon won't be a big DPS hit either, so you could have 2400 temp HP most of the time :)

Pluck + Hunt's End will serve you well for nuking individual mobs when you have aggro; there's nothing wrong with spiking a single mob every 9s, that's a perfectly viable contribution to a R10 group that can be done extremely safely (esp with 3k HP and 2400 temps on top). Not that you can't get oneshot, but 5400 survives a lot that 3k won't. This, in turn, can allow you to play a little more aggressively without increasing your risk significantly.

I'm betting he is the soulstone that blames everything except between the chair and keyboard.

Looks like you may be suggesting this to me rather than OP.

I appreciate the suggestions, and I am aware of temp HP options. I haven't ever been good enough to effectively use these weapon swap methods and have mostly given up on them on my ranged guy.

I have made temp HP work on my caster by slotting affirmation full time and using the shard strike from primal destiny. Those work for me while just losing the opportunity to have a full-time ash or dust. But I can swap outside of combat for when debuffing is really important to me.

Now hang on, you said there was no difference and nothing is special about anyone joining r10s!

So obviously, you are the same as everyone else , you and I are the same!

Oh, no, wait, you’re saying there IS a difference and you know you’re r10 capable ! Wow!

Hobgoblin

Less Nerfy Nerfy more fixy fixy
bout the only time I will put a lfm that limits it are things like r10- don't be a hobgobblin and recall after 2nd death

Never saw an LFM like OP. DPS for raids yeah. But "R10 capable"? XX reaper points, lol, nope. Not on Sarlona and not now that I moved to Thrane.

Sorry OP is seeing enough of these to be concerned by them.

Best advice I can give to anyone who wants to get better at reaper is to take the advice of the players posting "r10 capable" builds. Then chase the gear, on difficulties you feel comfortable with. Then join R10's, avoiding LFM's that are requiring something you don't want/know how to do.

Eh, they exist on thrane . Join them or don’t . Or weirdly like these people in this thread get all upset about it on the forums.

As always, just post your own lfm if you don’t like other people’s lfm. Who cares what lfms people post.
