What Greatswords should you use for leveling?

At lvl15 I crafted one, but I don't have SoS. I would say the crafted one is marginally better than the barovian.
Whirlwind, I didn't try. I could go get one and see.
I had a pretty one before: Greenstone! It was fun to use and looked cool!

The answer is, it depends on your build's actual stats, feats, etc. at the various levels. Some things heavily favor crit multi while other scenarios favor crit range and proc dice.

For example, here's my great sword DPS list with the approximate stats of the lvl 15 barbarian I'm currently running (+95 dmg bonus, 45 melee power, Imp Crit feat, +0 crit chance enhancements and +2 crit multi enhancements). You can see that the SoS is ahead of the other heroic options by a good margin.

If I change the stats to +50 dmg bonus, 30 melee power, +1 crit range, and +1 crit multi, it becomes a different story with the Greatsword of the Golden Age pulling ahead of even the SoS. The Golden Age is even better when you factor in the Vorpal instakills. With those stats, the Fallen Age great sword even gives the SoS a run for its money.

Cannith Craft a red/purple or red/orange dual slot blank greatsword with a damage prefix and keen, and slot in a couple of level 1 or 4 rubies. Use that until Sword of Shadows, then Epic Sword of Shadows (shouldn't be too hard to have both if you have any draconic raider boxes), then a Dino Bone Greatsword.

It's really not a complicated upgrade chain. If you don't have the crafting to make something, then Guardian's Dagger at 2, Sword of Thirty at 6.
I wouldn't craft in keen if I'm taking improved crit slash. They don't stack.

Umm...where do i find this? Assuming water node?
This is the current version. Tear of Dakahn House P first optional behind hidden door

If you're referring to the quenched swd from ToEE, iirc it came from fire node. (back then elements dropped in opposite element nodes. No way to make one unless you can fin a blank wepon AND find the mushrooms to upgrade it.

Regardless of having Improved Crit feat or not, in the lower heroic levels, Keen on Cannith Crafted weapons is a trap.

Toons don’t have enough doublestrike and melee power and low level weapons don’t have enough W multipliers to scale the physical damage enough to make Keen better than the crafting one of the Xd6 dmg procs in that slot.

That balance changes as toons level up and can scale the physical damage and as weapons gain more W and eventually, the equation favors +crit over a few Xd6 damage procs but by then any decent build will already have the appropriate Improved Crit feat, rendering Keen mostly redundant.

I have heroic Echo of the Black Razor and a heroic level sword of shadows. Planning on playing a greatsword-wielding Bladesworn Paladin. So, what would be a good sword to have for late heroics? Epics and finally legendary content. Was wondering if getting a Whirlwind and making it epic. The other possibility is making the Sword of Shadows epic

There is the Hunter's Slayer from Study in Sable I could farm for. Not sure what to try getting for endgame play.

This will be my first Paladin build, but I have a few past lives. Artificer, Favored Soul, Cleric, Ranger and currently working through a storm Singer Bard life. Got about 6 Epic past lives. As you can see, I have a lot of experience with ranged toons and just a little with a caster.

So any suggestions on what to try finding to use for would be greatly appreciated.
Technically, sword of shadows is the best greatsword until epic sword of shadows and epic sword of shadows is the best greatsword until you TR again.

I'd switch out Keen with Unnatural Bane.

(I still don't trust crafted Keen with Red slots.)
Unnatural bane… how versatile is that, compared to just bludgeoning? Seeing “bane,” I’m guessing it’s >2d6, but is it working against humans, kobolds, undead, other low-level stuff? (Idk what’s “unnatural”)

Unnatural bane is xd10s and applies to:
Undead, aberrations and monstrous humanoids.
Close to half the mobs.

I crafted good, unnatural and constitution damage.

The con damage is weird, does anyone know how exactly that works? It says 2 con dam on critical. But I'm noticing 3,4 even 6 con damage some times.

Also does it work against bosses?
Anyone can spare a decent greatsword blank at Moonsea? I'm willing to trade for it btw.

The earliest you can have Imp crit is 9, and at 10 you swap to the SoS. Keen is a huge damage add in the early levels before Imp Crit is even a possibility.

Unnatural bane is certainly useful, but mostly for the undead. Monstrous humanoids and aberrations are a very tiny number of enemies at low levels. In the low levels this is crafted for, it's just minotaurs, gargoyles, and sahuagin that you'll be facing with any regularity.

Stat damage on monsters works basically the same as on us - losing con will cause enemies to have their max HP reduced and lower their fort save. If they hit 0, they will become helpless. Realistically, they will die long before their con gets that low. It does not work on red names, they are immune to stat damage.

Currently you can obtain such blancs and shrooms to upgrade only via AH/ASAH, they don't drop anymore unfortunately.

usually when you see bigger numbers like that, it is due to doublestrike being calculated. So the hit went from 2 to 4. I am not sure if the effect is some kind of die roll (hence the range of damages). I have no idea how a 2 went to 6 unless it is somehow scaling with something that I do not know about, or maybe you have some other source of Con drain (some enhancements for example).

Stat damage only works briefly on bosses. If I recall, it stops at 10 points. Basically useless.

And I just so happen to have a lot of legacy TOEE blanks in storage..... (in fact, they have a dedicated airship for their storage). But yes, you are quite correct. The 2nd tier of 'shrooms are BTA, and are not supported anymore.

1: Ember Great Axe or Daily Dice to 2 or buy one from Hammer and Chain
2-3: Nicked (Sharn Syndicate) / Guardian Dagger (Shan-To-Kor) / Borderlands / cannith crafted / random
4-9: Carnifex (not a greatsword, i know, shocking)
10-19: SoS
20+: ESoS
Then you should switch to a legendary weapon at cap, but then its not leveling anymore.
