Why don't we start a petition to cancel the FreeCode that they are currently working on and demand something else! (j/k)As I'm sitting here frozen on Thrane watching my xp potion tick down while reading A Courrt of Thorns and Roses (I've made it through like 10 chapters while frozen tonight), I got curious what folks would find fair compensation for the performance issues recently. With the amount of issues playing I don't think it's unreasonable to expect something, especially related to the cases where real money purchases are effectively devalued (e.g. VIP when unable to play effectively for parts of it, potions ticking down in quests).
I'm no poll master, but I made this one where folks can choose any number of responses and their names are visible. That way if anyone who would have a say in "sorry for the state of the servers during the transfers" compensation could see what folks think is fair, and whether it's just people clicking everything. I chose options based on stuff that feels like it would make sense as a compensation option, feel free to comment if you feel like I missed something, but I intentionally didn't include stuff like "More storage space" since that didn't really feel like a "Sorry you weren't able to play" type thing.
Feel free to mark the No Compensation option if you don't think there should be anything, that's totally fair. Personally with a 9 hour first character unpacking, missing items after unpacking, still waiting for a first-response on my ticket about that, seeing several other issues on characters related to the Thrane rollback, and the generally bad performance lately and wasting xp potions + burning VIP weekends, I think it's not an unreasonable expectation.
One might think that with *new servers*, *new hardware*, new *64 bit software* that SSG would have allowed for not only their current player numbers but also growth. If these new *awesome* servers we've all gone through pains to transfer to can't even handle the current player base then how would SSG expect to grow the game? Or do they just want to coast on the current player base and should even 1 new player join then the servers lock up? I mean, did they buy bare bones equipment? There are a crazy amount of players on Thrane & Shadowdale! Right now both are hovering about 800 +/- Cormyr is around 390 and Moonsea is looking sleepy at around 219 (both of these servers seem to be healthy with the amount of players they have).
I'm not sure what could/should be done, but I expected some pain. The transfers are going still, but they are going much quicker. The performance of the servers is less bad, but that isn't to say that their performance is good. Sounds like more work will still be done to guild ships and other areas. Not sure what they were expecting on these servers, but I don't get the impression that 800 players was on their radar.
Should there be something in the form of comp? It wouldn't be an unreasonable expectation. I'm just not sure what the comp should be (I am not so keen on the survey options). Maybe free daily gold rolls for a week to a month depending on how long this goes on for? It gets peeps on the servers to do the rolls and the xp tokens are a (small) comp to lost play, there's a chance for different elixirs as well. This could hit several options in the survey list..
You can select multiple options for a BYOAlloftheaboveWhere's the "All of the above" option, along with "just fix the dang game for crying out loud"
Now you did it...Just make sure it looks nice...and not too expensive. We want...a shrubbery!
(That one's for you, Daddy.)
Spanking, maybe whipping.
