What is your favorite build for heroic PL's

Artificer 4/X Inquisitive.

Art 4 gives you an AoE attack, +3 Imbue dice, +15% doubleshot, Endless Fusillade that increases the power of No Holds Barred, the ability to use runearms alongside your crossbow as an extra item slot to cover whatever item prefixes and suffixes you don't have elsewhere.

Just for heroic. no iconic's, that's for another thread

I have rules with my characters, that makes it more challenging for me than following any other people's suggestions.

So the main (currently on 208 lives) has to have a rogue splash. No.2 char (133 lives) has to have arcane somewhere in it.

Therefore if it's a racial PL, then it'll be a stabby stabby rogue or archetype will be inqusitive something.
No.2 on racial will be a glacial warlock, or archetype have arcane something.

If I feel like doing the life as a caster, then a pure Blightcaster. If I feel like doing the life as a melee, then Single Weapon Fighting Vistani Knife Fighter 15 Sacred Fist/3 Dark Apostate/2 Monk, heavily focusing on Imbue Dice with the Apostate's Curse Imbue. If the life doesn't allow Lawful Good (such as Bard or Barbarian) or just feel the desire to hold down auto-attack for the life, then 7 Acolyte of the Skin/5 Dark Apostate/8 <other class>, but this is only for a Heroic life, not Epic.

I've done a few blightcaster lives in a row...that's a simple way to get it done. Typically solo r1-3 without much issue. "Death eater" is really handy to overcome the reaper heal debuff. Just don't go to cap...not a great build for ED synergy.

Ive never done the same build twice in a row, other than when I did 3 x Chaosmancer which doesnt count for here.

I try to keep the game interesting by trying something different every time. I would hate the game if I did the same thing over and over and over again just to get to the end.

Trapping is essential for my peace of mind. So any build that has 2 Rogue or 4 Artificer keeps me happy.

My group used to do this. In the early days someone always had to go trapper and someone needed some form of heals. Then self-healing became a thing so we just wanted a trapper. Now if we have a trapper or not we are just careful sometimes in the dungeons with nasty traps which are hard to avoid. We lose some dungeon XP but often finish quicker so over a life will squeeze in a few more dungeons.

Stormsinger Bard is great fun for slamming heroics.
Like all casters, they really need a buff for endgame, but in heroics? Chef's kiss.

Movespeed + AoE + heals + passive HoT + great skills set for NPC bypasses & interactions + invis + CC
But just running one thing is boring. Mix it up and have a play, that's part of the past lives journey.

Sorc, especially fire sorc, is total easy button. I should really do a lightning sorc one of these days though, just for variety.

Sorc, blightcaster, stormsinger and bearbarian are my go-to builds for heroic lives. Of these, probably stormsinger was my favourite, for the mix of nuking, using several elements, along with nice cc and heals. Now that I think about it maybe I'll get the dragonborn lives out the way soon 🤔

I honestly find thf dragonlord with both whirlwind attack and spring attack as early as level 6 to be the most fun out there. Once you hit 12, get the self healing from ravager as well and it's over. No need to 'maximize' dps and whatsnot; for r1 this is overkill already.

It used to be artificer before the heroic repeating crossbows decided to climb up a hill (between each shot).

For me:

Racials - 20 Warlock, plenty capable for r1-4 leveling and with a decent gear set does fine at cap for r6-8 reaper saga Zerging. It’s kind of a lazy man’s sorc, less damage but more forgiving (more durable, less reliant on Spell points).

Random heroic classes - Horc THF 6Barb/6Ftr/8xx, super zergy (barb speed, sprint boost on rage, regular sprint boost), does tons of AoE damage (THF and great cleave by level 4), impossible to die between blood tribute then blood strength. Not great at cap, so if I do an epic life I don’t stick around, just eTR/TR immediately.

Based on how you want to use it, my leveling partner has been happy with this "no brain" build:

3 acolyte of skin /17 fire cleric (gets you chain and cone) faster clearing.
or
2 acolyte / 1 rog / 17 fire cleric (gets you chain only and traps) if you solo gets you trap bonuses with some swap gear.

Since the pact die become avail as feats rather than investing into warlock class, you take the pact die feats as they come available, which is different than normal lock... plays like a warlock with less cc but tons more healing and AOE capabilities.

Constructs (epsicially fire healing style) and casters that quell are somewhat a pain in the arse, but its a pretty easy life otherwise.
