What the heck is going on with loading screens?

Don't know if anyone else is getting this, but I'm getting hung in loading screens every 2-3 quests or even more often. Rebooting the computer and the client does jack. The server just decides to stop talking for 5-10 minutes at a time.

This is downright unplayable.

Have you tried to reboot your router or modem? Maybe it's your connection. I just played some Isle of Dread quests and had no issues. But yeah sometimes the lag just happens... and if it's the server you're playing on you can't do much about it. Sometimes it helps to take a 10 minute break so it cleans your character connection from server.

Are you on Wifi? Or hardwired? Toggle on your network info and check for latency and loss. Could easily be SSG's servers/datacenter acting up, but always good to rule out anything player-side (as at least player-side stuff you can do something about).

My connection's hardwired. Tried rebooting the comp and the modem, but for whatever reason, this game (and this game alone) just decides that loading in or out of an instance just isn't a thing.

You might try increasing Texture Cache Size under Advanced Graphics, in case it's set too low for the game to have your current area and destination area in memory at the same time.

Also, are you running the x64 client?

This happened to me a couple years ago. Not sure if this is still a thing but check into your Dungeons and Dragons folder
Into the raw folder
Into your language folder
Into logo
And make sure all the screen art are jpgs. Mine had turned to html in a couple of cases and the system would hang up a crash

Again, it has bee a couple of years and I am not sure if this might be still happening, but it is worth a check.

Well that’s certainly peculiar.
