When Did DDO Start Deleting Mail with Attached Items?

I had a bunch of really important things in my mail, and after I "read" them, I let them sit there since I didn't have room in my inventory at the time. When I went back to get them, everything was gone. Everything. WHY! I thought mail wasn't supposed to auto-delete if there was still stuff attached?! 😡

If it's "really important" then store it in your bank or shared bank. The mailing system is not an extra bank anymore. You could have created a secondary account and mailed your "really important" items to a bank alt there.

I always remember Tonquin saying that one of the main issues on lag on the 32b servers was players keeping items stored in the mail. Maybe, new server, new rules. I know if it's in the "off mail tab" (ie not on friends list) the items there can be deleted in a 'delete all' fashion.

As far as I know, if you read them, they will disappear in 5 days.
Never. Read, unread... unless something has changed radically in the latest patch, it never happens. The only time this happened was 5-6 years ago, when SSG limited/reduced the size of the mailbox to a modern one. And they warned about it in advance.

This has been my experience as well.

I was quite surprised to read this exact topic on reddit.

So can anyone confirm if mail actually disappears? Because that hasn't been my experience but people are confirming the op, making it seem like it does.

I tried to test this by posting something mundane for a ridiculous amount of platinum. Someone bought it anyway.
Heh. When I get plat-capped, I'll hit AH and buy up a bunch of anything remotely useful no matter what the cost. Yesterday I saw someone begging newbies to take 1M plat gifts in trade channel.

Platinum is next to worthless. :(
