Which Quests Feel Most Epic?

Search and rescue with the optional which is basicly a quest in a quest.
It is much easier now to get it done but I remember times when that opt was elite level to do.

- First time running Shavrath (at 18 when the cap was 20)
- First time running Reaver's Fate
- First time running Dreaming Dark

But in the last 10 years? Nothing has felt as epic as finishing act 1 in WotR. The contrast was so dramatic it led me to take a 2 year break from DDO.

Not in terms of actual level, but just as a feeling of grandeur and accomplishment.

Misery's Peak fills the bill for me. It seems a fitting end to our first phase of game life.

What Goes Up also get a nod. It just feels like the stakes are high. Immeasurably helped by the driving soundtrack.

The Strahd rais also feels a fitting end to our Barovian adventures.

What do you think? What are your favorite "epic" quests. They do not have to be chain cappers.
Honestly a great list - I just TRd and running Misery's Peak was oddly special this time around, reminded me of those early times.

What Goes Up is a good shout, although I've always felt slightly removed from the Stormhorns for some reason? (Or maybe it's just trauma at that end fight lmao). But in a similar range - the Demonweb quests weirdly do it for me, makes me feel very epic. Also I think Shavarath stuff.

Strahd's raid is another great one.

I submit The Prisoner / the general VoN chain. One, of course that raid is just amazing... seeing Velah on that island. Very cool. But I have a distinct memory from when I was little, being shown the ropes in Prisoner / VON 2. Being shown how to pause on the "X" so you don't get blown off. The sprawling chaotic abyss in the background.

Nowadays, I can *burst* through that quest, so it feels about 100x smaller. But back then, it was a real gauntlet, and it was fun to keep together. Ok maybe it's humbling instead of Epic... I like the core of this post, imma try to think of more that give me that MP feeling.

We used to do a use what you loot Tempest Spine, and using the loot wasn't optional. Wizard that loots heavy armor, have fun. Start the quest swinging a SOS, well switch to that light hammer you tried to leave in the chest. It could make for some interesting fights near the end, at least when the cap was 10-12.
This sounds amazing

TOEE
What Goes up +the saga
Haunted Halls of Eveningstar
Chains of Flames
Wiz king
Slave Lords saga

that's a few.
Yesss Haunted Halls, first time doing that was amazing. Haven't actually run it much, should try to do an R10 run this life heheh. I'm screwed

Glad to see Attack on Stormreach mentioned. The lore and ecology brings it to life (tents, supplies, sleeping troops, bathrooms…) whereas Slave Lords, large in scale, does not feel ‘epic’ to me.

Okay, perma banned. :)

Gwylan's Stand is another that stands out for me. Great XP for the level although I hear "Your eyes sting as you pour the grey powder into the Thuranni supply crates." in my sleep.
I always liked that quest though. I run quests I enjoy and very few just for XP. I usually only run quests I don't care for when it's a saga quest.

Raids wise for me it would be Shroud, Caught in the Web and The Fall of Truth. These were my first raids I ever ran in the game when back in the day of level cap being 25.

Regular quests wise I'd have to say Gwylan's Stand, Tear of Dhakan and the Halls of Shan-to-Kor chain.

Taming the Flames - back in the day a super rough quest. Now less "epic".
The Xorian Cipher
Diplomatic impunity - looking down the beach at the legions of droamm is pretty cool.
Seigebreaker - killing the officers, beating down the hag, and the great narrator
TOEE - fighting Zuggtmoy
Slaver's end fight (all other aspects of this chain I dislike)
The church and the cult - back in the day. Now it doesn't make the cut.
Dreams of Insanity and Invaders! - lots of beholders make these exciting
Gianthold Tor and Mired in Kobolds dragon fights (though I've not done these in a very long time)
Demon Assault - something fun about blades slicing around
In the Flesh - fun villain
What Goes Up - I think the most epic feeling quest of them all
Breaking the Ranks
The Weapons Shipment - fun/demanding end fight
A New Invasion - punishing end fight. The rest of this quest is very "meh"
Precious Cargo - for reals, just too bad it's not reaper eligible

Shroud
Lord of Blades
Caught in the Web
Dryad and the Demigod
Skeletons in the Closet

But for the thread, even just Stormhorns is a really nice zone to be in and explore around. The forested wilderness, the Orc's cutting through the fringes for the battlements, the hidden white dragon, the caves that wind up inside the explorer zone, the clear divide between nature and netherese influences. It's really good.

The story is cohesive, makes sense, winds up four different story arcs (druids, high road, wheloon, stormhorns) and the free intro quests, a truely epic end fight with that in game cutscene to conclude everything. Some honestly great voice acting across those arcs as well. Really really good.

I wish it had an associated raid (not counting thunder peaks, theres really no link except that the netherese were in Thunderholm).

I wish we could have done more with the dracolich in breaking the ranks, or explore into the caves in the sides of the mountain where the orcs & giants enter from.

I wish that island in the stormhorns lake near lines of supply had anything interesting on it.

Great underrated content.

Even though my first thought was the Abbot raid, I'm now reconsidering after thinking about it more. I think I'll second WGU. For whatever reason, I end up running Storm Horns every life as my last quest chain before cap.... the feeling of completing that quest at the same time as completing a life is very epic feeling.
