Why is there work on a Monk revamp, when the 4k issue is more pressing?

According to the most recent Steam hardware survey, 4K primary display resolution accounts for 4.08% of gamers.

I guess SSG have decided that it is currently not worth allocating resources to something that will affect such a low number of players.

I'm tired of having to kiss the screen in order to read the very tiny font.
A simple solution was already presented, which is add more font sizes!
Why the **** are you allocating resources on a Monk revamp NO ONE asked for,
instead of working on making the client more accessible to 4k resolution users, which are steadily growing?
Monk revamp drives sales. 4k does not. I game on 1440p. It's by far the best display resolution not just for ddo but for 99% of games out there currently. As much as I would love to customize the size of my hot bars, I'd rather have content if I must have an either/or.

I’m just going to remind you (or let you know if you are new) that changing GUI interfaces has been mostly (I.e almost always) a disaster in DDO. The coding by the founders of this game cut a lot of corners in order to deliver the game to the players. Which is why since 2010 (and probably longer than that) development teams that predate SSG have addressed this issue.

Usually things get worse before they get better. So increasing font size may seem like an easy fix to you, or me, yet reshaping the size of a text screen caused nearly a year of headaches for the developer team. It took multiple small patches to get something as reshaping to work.

Did you play the game lately? 4K resolution is not an important issue. The last thing I need is seeing a fountain or some fancy grass and having my FPS drop in twice the resolution

Yes, I think the Devs have a better handle on overrepresented loud mouths with agendas on here, than some think, thankfully...

Now, about fixing that Magic Fang SLA... 😁👍

I share your opinion that lack of proper 4k support is a huge issue. Really really needs at least lip-service to support.

I only really need the buffs bar to become free-floating, but I am also playing on a huge monitor. I won't waste your time with suggestions, just to say that, yes, more support for 4k is needed.

According to the most recent Steam hardware survey,
Any words that come after this statement are completely useless. The majority of DDO players aren't even using steam. The majority of 4k gamers are not using Steam. Steam sells a POS modded android tablet with a butt-tiny screen as "a gaming device" which is friggin garbage. Why anyone gives that company money is beyond me.

There's an entire world of 4k gamers out there who are not involved in steam, which clearly you have no idea even exists. Don't try to insist your single DRM-locked environment represents all of gaming. It makes you look dump and insults the rest of us who are outside your fishbowl.

I'm in the camp of wishing so bad for 4k support, but I have to say my shtick again:

Not every dev can work on every different issue. They're not all generalist, they can't all work on everything.

It is unreasonable to expect the devs to drop everything and work on issue X.

I do not discourage making your voice heard on what you want to see for the game. Quite the opposite. Please, though, know that "drop everything" and "this issue is most important" are just not reasonable.

Not every dev can work on every different issue.
The issue here is that no dev seems to be working on this issue at all.

We need just 2 really simple changes to create a huge QoL boost for 4k players. And so far the devs have not ever even acknowledged that there is a problem.

Or he could go play a game that supports 4K, thus depriving DDO of yet another player and yet another revenue stream. This is what you are suggesting even though you spelled it wrong.

Nope, that's absolutely not what I'm suggesting.

The stuff here lets one run the game windowed (fullscreen) at lower resolution while keeping the desktop at 4k. https://forums.ddo.com/index.php?th...ddo-at-1080p-full-screen-on-4k-desktop.15824/

That's not true. It's been acknowledge by SSG many times. They've said it's something they want to do but it's matter of time management and resources for when it could potenitally happen. And they've talked about how the all the icons in the game are a set resolution (not designed to scale) and have to be redone. They've even talked about various aspects of trying to figure out how they want to best handle that on their end.
