Why no Fairy race, two Feywild expansions, yet no Fairy race...

Just think this would be cool, doesn't need full flight capabilities... you already have 3d assets for the wings, you could simply use the eladrin model as the base for the race. Just make them small like the halfling/gnome size and I think you are good to go. Technically, you could make the wings simply a cosmetic back addon they can turn off and on. Then print monies...
If Fairy shaped, why not Fairy?

Step back and consider the social aspect for a moment. Odds are that the flames it would cause Is more negative press than SSG would like.

That is silly, as D&D is often viewed as an open and inviting space for all walks of life, and I am not sure how or why a common fantasy trope character race (or should I use the term species, so I do not offend) would herald flames of "Bad" press... lol
I mean they gave away fairy wings as a reward already, not sure they suffered at all from that.

That is stupidly naive considering the current state of politics in the Un-United States.

Why no kalashtars? Why no changelings? Both are Eberron specific races. Why no goblinoids despite Khorvaire having a whole nation for them? Why no minotaurs for some more STR-based races? Why no genasi? We sorely lack the elemental planes in representation. Why no Thri-keen for the insect lovers? Why no cats? Not tabaxi. Actual cats! Everyone loves cats. So why is SSG excluding cat-lovers that are not into the whole furry-thing and therefore cautious about tabaxi? #catsforddo

Seriously, you can argue for everything and it always comes down to: Are the resources spent there worth the expected return.

Why no faeries in specific? Probably, because they always land in a splash book in the P&P-version that comes whenever an edition is close to the end of its cycle.

Everything will be liked by some and not by others. Having the assets can actually a minus, as it even becomes less appealing for players as there is less of a visual variety as well (wood elves are an exception, as SSG seems to hate the look of normal elves and wanted to rectify it without angering those who like the normal elven look).

Personally, playing a faerie sounds less interesting for me than playing a mole.

That's fair, and I totally respect your opinion and the facts you laid out... I get there are definitely more deserving races that should also be added. And yes, I do admit this would require some resources and some of those should rightly be spent on more important things like fixing the AI so that things don't just stand there and let me hit them over the head with a stick until they are dead.

However, I just like the idea of adding fairies. That's it, this is a forum thread that asks for suggestions, and that is mine. Add fairies... because they can if they wanted to.

And who knows, maybe they were just waiting for someone like me to suggest it.

Also, they should add Changling, Minotaurs and Kalasthars. That would be cool, I'm a proponent that more options are better.

Flying Mini-Elves?? Meh, pass. Some of the races we've gotten were at-best 27th round draft picks, and we already know that SSG would
just turn them into another PL hamster-wheel cog to sell creep and XP potions. They somehow can't figure out why people get frustrated. 🙄

I like you and most of your comments but who makes it up to you to decide for everyone-else??? If you have a good response to that...How do I get in good with you?

I mean, it's his thread, yeah. If you want to be the king, make your own suggestion.

I think I might change genders next time I reincarnate, just for you.

It's the same reason we didn't get fire giants with giant hold. D&D uses roughly human sized races. Pixies and fairies are much smaller than halflings and gnomes, and so there's no "skeleton" to build them on.

No reason to inject politics, but yes, it might also be a bad idea to add a dwarf iconic named "the clansman" for reasons unrelated to the game...

IF the developers add a playable fairy race and IF I can make a fairy character I find pretty, I will buy the race and convert one of my characters into a fairy. She may feel a few moments of disorientation while shrinking and growing wings and stuff.

IF the developers add a playable fairy race and IF all fairy characters look like demon spawn offspring of a genetic experiment involving Guntango and Teh_Troll, I'm not buyin nothin. Instead, I will write a bunch of useless forum posts complaining about ugly fairies and then forget about the entire matter.

Now, despite the fact that things around here tend to go, well, how shall we say, like 40 half digested halflings emerging out the back side of a giant, diarrhea plagued otyugh into a high speed wind tunnel fan during a hurricane, I am a hopeful person. Maybe things will go okay this time.

So, yeah, sure. Fairy race. At least everyone knows how to pronounce it. I think that is a positive step in the right direction.

Now you should also know, Budda Squirrel lives in my back yard. Every morning, Budda Squirrel shows up at my back door and I give him some walnuts. Then I say, "Budda Squirrel, can you give me enlightenment?" He shakes his tail and runs away. Sometimes, he buries the nut in one of my planter boxes which is kinda annoying. I am not sure what it all means, but it must me something very mysterious and abstruse.
