Why Threnal Needs to be Made Epic!
Current Situation:
- The wilderness is a mini-wilderness similar to the Steam Tunnels.
- Lists clear X number of enemies (10 & 20)
- Has 3 quests that are walkups level 9, 9, 10
- Has 3 quest chains (Western excavation, Eastern Excavation, Abandoned Excavation, 3 quests each)
- Has Threnal Ceremonial Arena in order to use Threnal Ceremonial Blade from Western excavation finale quest. Level 9 but it is wilderness based so no hard/elite or reaper.
- The Western Excavation
- Has 3 quests level 8, 8, 10
- Western Excavation when you collect after the last quest it keeps the window open for "Would you like to reset the quest chain?"
- The Eastern Excavation
- Has 3 quests level 9, 10, 10
- The Abandoned Excavation
- Has 3 quests level 9, 9, 10
- Current Items:
- 2 items from Hold for Reinforcements (1 Unbound, 1 BTCoE(Rahl's Wrath))
- 2 Items from The Gate Chamber (2 Unbound)
- 2 Items from The Threnal Arena (2 BTCoE (Threnalian War Blade & Threnalian War Dagger)
- 23 Items from End Chain reward (21 BTAoA, 1 BTCoE (Fernian Wraps), 1 BTCoA (Mantle of the World Shaper))
- The biggest thing to keep is the Narration of the quests since it is done by Dave Arneson. This is a must have!
- I would keep the non-adventure compendium quests as they are.
- Mantle of the Worldshaper should be kept BTCoA since Voice of the Master is also.
- The “Giant Theme” should be kept for the wilderness area if/when it is expanded even if made Epic
and/or Legendary. - Another thing that should absolutely stay is the lighting visual effects in The Gate Chamber.
- The quest levels for Western, Eastern and Abandoned Excavations should be normalized:
- Western should be all lv 8
- Eastern should be all lv 9
- Abandoned should be all lv 10
- Alt idea: (Aelonwy suggestion) Normalize all heroic quests to the same level (lv 8).
- When you unlock the Southern excavation, it should stay unlocked.
- The 3 wilderness quests that are not in the adventure compendium should be given minimal favor.
- Casual 0, Normal 1, Hard 2, Elite/Reaper 3.
- Alternatively Elite/Reaper 1.
- The last quest in the Abandoned Excavation (The Gate Chamber) has “Kill 6 Giants” which is far below the minimum needed (10) for Reaper xp to kick in. The quest should be changed to have at least 10 giants in there. Even running it on R10, there is no guarantee that you will get 10 kills before killing the 6 giants.
- (Aelonwy suggestion) Perhaps the Epic version of The Gate Chamber should have multiple portals opening sending in giants like the opening fight of Gianthold Tor or possibly waves of outsiders/beholders. Destroy the portal/s to end the waves.
- When you complete the Western Excavation change the Dialogue box should close like the Eastern Excavation chain.
- (Aelonwy suggestion) Kill the Cave Beholder objective from The Missing Expedition needs to be listed upon entry not just when encountering the beholder to prevent anyone not in-the-know from having to backtrack to find him in order to complete the quest.
- (Aelonwy suggestion) Western, Eastern, and Abandoned Excavation should be lv 27 since Delera's is all lv 27.
- For loot:
- All items should be updated to current standards including Augment slots and upgraded abilities (TBD by SSG).
- The Threnalian War Blade/Dagger should be changed from BTCoE to BTAoE (or BTAoA).
- The Fernian Wraps & Rahl's Wrath should be changed from BTCoE to BTAoE.
- The Cinder's Dance, Melri's Breath & Molb's Fist should be changed from Unbound to BTAoA. (No idea why they are unbound?)
- All current loot that drops in the chain end reward list should be redistrubited to the quests in specific chests just like the Delera's update. The exception is:
- Cloak of the Worldshaper
- 100 +5 Screaming Amethyst Arrows
- (the potential Epic Cloak of the Worldshaper)
- The chain end reward list should be given out from a new person that is set up similar to how saga reward givers work, i.e. if you have run all quests in the series then you get the rewards (unlike in Delera's).
- The Wilderness could be developed (expanded) to be an actual wilderness. (The size of the area should be increased if it is made into a proper Wilderness. Both Heroic and Epic.) Note: there are people that don't like wildernesses.
- The level range should be 8 for heroic and 27 for epic
- I would suggest 750/1500 max slayers. (Could be as low as 500)
- I would suggest 10-15 max explorers. (Currently 8 easy, if area is expanded, more could be added.)
- Western, Eastern, Abandoned Excavations (3)
- Additional Quests (not in Adventure compendium) (The Giant Lieutenants, The Giants' Lair, The Giants' Supplies) (3)
- The Threnal Arena (Standalone area, recommend being made into a quest) (1)
- Delver's Canteen (Tavern) (1)
- I would suggest 5-10 max rares.
- The Threnal Arena should be given an entrance so it can be run on multi-difficulty levels up to and including R10.
- (Aelonwy suggestion: Click on the altar for the quest entrance.)
- Item changes:
- There are currently 29 items in Threnal (2 in Hold for Reinforcements, 2 in The Gate Chamber, 2 in The Threnal Arena and 23 in End Chain reward).
- The end rewards could be split up into other quests, so it is not so heavy handed at the end.
- I would keep Mantle of the Worldshaper as a Chain End Reward.
- For some of the other End Reward Items I would put them in a separate list that could drop from the non-Adventure Compendium Quests (6-8 recommended).
- I would take 2 and have them as rewards as possible for Secure the Area (since Hold for Reinforcements, The Gate Chamber & The Threnal Arena all have 2 items).
- (Aelonwy suggestion) The Epic Mantle of the Worldshaper ought to be a new BTA one filigree slot Minor Artifact like the Epic Voice at level 20.
- There is also the item: 100 +5 Screaming Amethyst Arrows - 100 +5 Arrows: Returning 50%, Screaming, (No minimum level, always appears, unbound: This item is Unbound, and may take permanent damage.) (Add unique visual effect for flare and add Epic
/Legendary depending on update).
- Add a Raid at lv 30 (Could be anywhere from lv 30-36+)
- Raid runes should be incorporated in it along with Threads of Fate.
- Could be added as an outside pack with entrance from next to the wilderness entrance.
- Flagging should not be needed (strongly suggested).
- An alternative flagging could be having a Voice of the Master & Cloak of the Worldshaper or Gift of the Master (any versions in inventory or equiped).
- Loot for the raid should incorporate original D&D items. (All items should be BTCoA)

- Combining Perfected Voice of the Master and Perfected Cloak of the Worldshaper yields Legendary The Master's Gift BTA ML 30 (Colorless) +5% Legendary xp bonus
- Costs 30 Commendations of Heroism & 20 Greater Raid Tokens (adjustable)

- If there is an Epic Mantle of the World Shaper, I would add a recipe to the Legacy Altar of Epic Rituals so you can combine the Epic Mantle of the Worldshaper & Epic Voice of the Master for The Master's Gift (without the 5 Greater Tokens of the Twelve).
- It is a toss-up as to whether to add Tokens of the Twelve or not. (Strong leaning towards no for Tokens of the Twelve.)
- If the quests were Epic Level, I would lean towards yes but not guaranteed (definitely not full tokens since the chains are short and easy to run, I would scale fragments based on quest).
- BTCoE is Bound to Character on Equip.
- BTCoA is Bound to Character on Acquire.
- BTAoE is Bound to Account on Equip.
- BTAoA is Bound to Account on Acquire.
- TBD is To Be Determined.
- SSG is Standing Stones Games.
