Wilderness Area Difficulty?

Has anyone ever suggested having difficulty levels for wilderness areas just like quests? It makes some sense as wilderness areas do have some good loot from rare chests, and like quests, higher difficulty would improve your odds of scoring that gear.

Obviously, bigger XP would be another draw. The only issue i can see is how your kills are counted. Would it just be divided by whatever difficulty you do? So Normal diff kills would be separated from elite or reaper kills?

Anyway, I think it could be a cool idea, would especially encourage i think more groups to simply get together for some wilderness fun.

there are raid bosses in a few wilderness areas. I think thats a good compromise without major dev work. Ilse of dread, Myth of drannor and Lamordia have some really cool purple named rares that are quite a challenge above the usual wilderness experience

Doesnt solve the issue of the loot not being reaper boosted - reaper crafting is still too expensive to realistically craft on all wilderness items

Yeah I want to search high and low and all over for reapers on the larger wilderness maps. Sounds like fun...not. Reapers work in dungeons since they are generally smaller in scale and there are only so many spots for reapers to spawn. Not so for wilderness maps. If they do this they would have to change how reapers work, maybe only spawning when you get close.

If you want wilderness fun, enter at the lowest level possible, usually 3 below stated level, and in the largest group you can muster.

And one should be able to enter Epic Borderlands at level 17, not 20, or King's Forest while 18.

Why? 17 and 18 aren't epic levels. Doesn't make sense for non-epic characters to enter epic content.

Why on earth would you seach for reapers?

Reapers would come to your character, spawn on top of your character, draw invisible circles above your character's head so that your character cannot see them, spawn behind your character. There's no need to search for reapers.

Considering how difficulty works, even soloing through reaper the mob spawns would be scaled to full party meaning tons of enemies and tons of reapers as a result.

Because these aren't particularly difficult at level, even quite boring, and also by such a reasoning we shouldn't be able to enter legendary areas when "only" of epic level.

But the issue is that you have to fight on Normal, so only a small chance of getting good loot from them.

I wonder about it for years now.
I do not care about drop rate or xp boost or other rewards.
Extra XP would possibly end up as easy progress with slayer potions.
I definitely would like to see difficulty option for wilderness, so if someone want fun, then can get it while others just keep it normal to take fastest way into quest entrances.
Currently there is no challenge at all.
After quests on R1+ as standard for years, having normal only for wilderness is a joke.

Doing them on minimum level does not change much (I already do it that way, but it does not even feel like elite).
Even purple alert is not a thing (easy to test on sands in gnoll area or twilight in outsider area).

Try the Amber Temple area slayers from Blue Water Inn at Ravenloft when under level. i.e. select legendary slayers at level 20.

I have mixed feelings on the matter. Higher difficulties could be fun, but on the other hand, I like the fact that there are some parts of the game that are more relaxed.

If they're going to add higher difficulties to explores, I would prefer the tallies stay the same... just one rare list, explore set, and slayer set.

What I would rather have, however, is favor for completing explore objectives. Not a crazy amount, but say 1 point per explore, an extra 2 points for all of them. The same for races amd slayer milestones.

Actually according to the devs (torc or steelstar, I forget, it was posted on the old forum years ago) epic and legendary are identical "under the hood" ie there's no clear delineation as there is with heroic to epic. The context of the post only applied to epic/legendary dungeons but that may be why you can enter legendary wilderness areas while only of epic level.

I have suggested that everything have a challenge type slider selection. Legendary Heyton's crypt for the win.
