In less than 2 years it will be the exact same thing on cormyr. People who can afford the time and money will buy all the boxes and pots, speed through all the lives, and get all the stuffz. People who can't keep up get left behind. Its true alot of the payers i have spoken with on the new server said they are happy to run in regular groups again without people that have run or bought out all the power and have so many players all alike. I guess all that power seems to be coming at a cost of no one to play with except only those others with all the power so you better get gud to keep up with all the powered up toons left on the old servers.
Cormyr was started in order to test several things all together. First was the 64-bit server to see if they could eliminate the server level lag. With the reduced server level lag, they could pinpoint lag and other bug issues that were being drowned out and thereby improve the overall game environment. It was an interim event (Lanterns in The Mist) similar to hardcore but being able to run on different levels (Hardcore, Normal, Nonparticipating). And lastly having a new start server. All of this culmination could result in new 64-bit megaservers that people could freely transfer to and enjoy.Personally I think that's dirty business. People spent a fortune over a generation getting what and where they are now. And we're supposed to just do it again and leave all that behind like it doesn't matter? That's just plain disrespectful of our time and money. And possible predatory practices. Either way, I'm feeling considerably inconsequential as a customer.
You are hilarious!!In less than 2 years it will be the exact same thing on cormyr. People who can afford the time and money will buy all the boxes and pots, speed through all the lives, and get all the stuffz. People who can't keep up get left behind.
I'm ahead of all my alts for sure. You are hilarious!!
You actually think you are ahead…..

"If next week goes well and we feel that the performance improvement is there then the plan would be to open up new 64 bit servers with transfer enabled, sometime in Spring? No promises."Cormyr was started in order to test several things all together. First was the 64-bit server to see if they could eliminate the server level lag. With the reduced server level lag, they could pinpoint lag and other bug issues that were being drowned out and thereby improve the overall game environment. That means that the time energy and money spent on the 32-bit servers will not be wasted. They are also figuring out how to transfer stuff that does not normally transfer, i.e. Guilds, Astral Shards, Mounts, Pets and more.
So, with all this effort how is it "disrespectful"?
Both of those are my main servers.IMO the better outcome is to simply upgrade/migrate the old servers from 32 to 64. Use Cormyr to figure out the bugs, then when most bugs are worked out rebuild the larger servers (Argo/Orien) and let the smaller servers migrate to the larger ones for free.
The only oddity for me is what will happen to Cormyr once you have other 64-bit servers....perhaps folks on a smaller server can migrate to Cormyr, creating 3 mega servers. Well, I'm not sure how many servers are desired in the end, but my guess is when they begin to create all 64bit server solutions, then some will be allowed to migrate into Cormyr.
Although, @Konsumer if you're on Orien/Argo I'd think you'd want to wait until you know the plans for those servers before migrating.
I'm completely fine with people who haven't been able to figure this out by now quitting the game. We've had this discussion almost every day for over a month now. You should know by now if you actually cared.Or are we just expected to watch the servers die of attrition until we leave all our many years of invested time and money behind to start new?
To answer this question again, part of the whole reason for transfers instead of copy and paste is to free up names that were used in accounts that no longer play. If they were to copy and paste 2 servers to one how would you reconcile the same names and guild names also? This would also mean you wouldn't have a choice of which new server you went to.they should just convert our old servers over ie copy and paste.... and ,maybe consolidate as well down to 3 or 4 total servers. just my 2 coppers!
At what point will Daybreak Games confess that the game is only supported for pay to play to players? Will they change the marketing and advertising to reflect that only VIP players who go to the new working server to start overI wouldn't want to transfer my good characters to there. It's a VIP only server. The last thing I'd want is to have my characters locked behind requiring a subscription to access.
Probably?Or are we just expected to watch the servers die of attrition until we leave all our many years of invested time and money behind to start new?
They can do that beforehand and could have been doing that at any point throughout the game's existence.part of the whole reason for transfers instead of copy and paste is to free up names that were used in accounts that no longer play.
[character name]-[origin server name] this is what they did in previous mergers in the long long ago. They can set it up in a similar way for guilds. If they were to copy and paste 2 servers to one how would you reconcile the same names and guild names also?
There are a number of potential solutions here, simplest being they could also allow w/e free transfers for those people who genuinely care to be merged into a specific server. This would also mean you wouldn't have a choice of which new server you went to.
And the simplest of all is once the 64-bit servers are up and running, allowing free transfers to them . . . .They can do that beforehand and could have been doing that at any point throughout the game's existence.
