Working as Intended?

Went in to the new crafting hall a few days ago. Like the multiple item crunching - and like more crafting halls around. Need more - but I'll take what I can get

In the previous version, I needed to by crunching "stuff". But, I got back platinum and essences. In this version, I pay directly to crunch (Good Thing(TM)) but I don't get platinum back - just essences

Is this as intended? I guess the choice now is either sell it for platinum or crunch it for essences......
