I tried playing with that AI thing to make a pic of Deadknobs and Boomsticks hoping it would make some twist of that^ old cartoon and Evil Dead.

I failed, but the pic I imagined in my head was awesome. :D

I tried a different track...

These are free monthly rewards in addition to our normal VIP benefits. Why are people complaining so much? The XP bonus alone is worth the $10 a month subscription. Considering the amount of time we spend playing the game, what does $10 work out to? 50 cents an hour? 20 cents?

Why? Are you really asking that? lol. Go to play while wearing a purple pajamas and riding a stupid and awful purple bed. Is this a game for 4-5 years old kids?? No more Dungeons and Dragons, but "Beds and Pajamas"!!!!

You are welcome to your opinion, but it should be obvious that it's not shared.

These year 3 rewards are only available to people who kept their VIP active through two years of often unplayable lag, and still logged in every month to claim their VIP track. It should be rewarding to them and enticing to those of us who haven't seen VIP as worth the price previously.

FOMO is a terrible incentive, but trying to do it and failing so spectacularly is somehow worse.

Feel how you want to feel but part of your money is going to THIS, you’re actively spending money to be spat in the face.

I cancelled vip based on the first intro of this whole thing. Haven’t regretted it since. All they need to do is not spite their players and I would be back supporting them.

I understand your point and appreciate the calm tone. Allow me to counter though.

VIP was about getting access to new races, classes and quest packs while everyone else had to pay for them.
Now? Fewer actual quest packs - and mini-expansions became a thing. Then they started giving classes, races and most of all quest pack access away for free to everyone - not that I think thats a bad idea at all but it certainly diluted the value of being VIP.

These monthly rewards are supposed to be a replacement in value for the things we no longer get and the things everyone gets for free that used to be paid for it not VIP.

It is in that light you need to measure the value of the rewards and in that light that they come up worse than short.

Why SSG keep doing this to themselves is baffling when minor changes would make it somewhat decent.

SSG continuing the sad trend of minimal effort design.
You mean doing to us. I was on the fence last year, but I renewed. I will not be doing it again this year unless things change.
This years VIP is shameful. I don't know how they can look at this and say this is good (and keep a straight face).

My two cents:
The DDO points are okay, pretty neutral reward, but useful nonetheless.

The Bag of Many Things have a pretty diminished value, the regular ones are really only good for raid timers to me, but even then I don't raid enough to really get past the clutching of using an item I might need later. And the Greater Bags I feel are only good for reincarnation items, but reincarnation items aren't hard enough to farm to justify the use of the bag. Like if I fall short on seeds and REALLY don't feel like a half day of farming I could use it, but I feel like as I play more the chances of ending up short are going to be pretty slim.

I have enough character slots, especially with the server shift granting more.

Durability ward was useful the first two times, but I don't worry about durability anymore, what would another 10% do? I already don't worry about it AND I don't use any durability ward enhancements.

I'll take the storage space I guess, any amount helps, but it's a pretty tiny amount that will feel pretty unnoticeable, especially compared to reincarnation cache.

The delirious dreamwear set seems really underdone. Like no embroidery or details. It feels like the obvious answer to the question of what's the lowest cost cosmetic we can give. I like the idea of sleepwear, that's fun, but the execution is such that I'd almost feel embarrassed to wear it compared to any other cosmetic (or even non-cosmetic) I could wear.

The crafting xp is useless. As Voodu pointed out, at 32 months in you either have it maxed, or don't care. Unless you're revamping Cannith Crafting this year to take advantage of being overleveled for crafting recipes, it's not useful. And the token is listed as the same from last year, to which again I ask: Is this supposed to be "Common Crafting Material Token" or is it a higher rate of the uncommon? Still don't think it will be super useful compared to the uncommon or even rare tokens (if it is supposed to be common) but I'll at least appreciate that.

Discover boost is nice, I'll take every chance you'll give me.

And actually excited for the mount. Looks cool.

All in all, I'm not buying VIP for the loyalty reward, I was for year 2, the uncommon tokens alone were worth it to me. But I have a lot of those saved up now. And there's nothing new that interests me enough that it would sway me year 3. But really I buy it for the monthly DDO points, the difficulty selection, the movement speed, the monster manuals, and the gold weekly dice.

If the goal is to add value, especially for playing longer, the value actual drops off the longer you play with these rewards. They're neutral to me this year, next year would likely be insulting as it is this year for many in this thread. Like the artisan advantage and bags of many things, those are less valuable to experienced players because experienced players don't need crafting xp and they're going to be good enough at farming to not need hearts of wood handed to them (especially since I'm already doing okay at that without hitting reincarnation xp increase).

I am glad you like the VIP rewards. However, back in the old DDO days, VIP meant more than what it is now. A whole lot more. Like basically you get to play the entire content of the game without spending extra. Some free shared bank when 20 spaces meant a lot than what it is now. You get some TP per month which at that time point was a decent amount - this was when store prices weren't so inflated: DDO classes/races cost 400 TP and also expansion packs weren't in the 2000+ points. There was also a point in time when DDO went F2P, and you had to grind TP to unlock content, however, being VIP just allows you to skip that and just enjoy the game. Mentioning all of these, I felt that during that time, being VIP was well worth it.

When we talk about being VIP these days, yeah you get to have those benefits from before, but those old adventure packs are already owned by the majority of DDO players, heck they are even given for free almost every year. Furthermore, new expansions has to be bought by VIPs and not included in the subscription. You get the same monthly TP/DDO point but DDO has been far inflated that even with a year of hoarding those points, you won't be able to buy everything off an expansion (in contrary to before). You'd argue how about the monster manuals, 10% XP bonus, and the free spell swaps, the saga skips and the monthly VIP rewards then I'd argue, "that's it?" If these are the only things that would make me keep my VIP sub, I think I'll easily survive DDO without it. Seems like there isn't much value in being VIP, and people aren't missing much by not being VIP with the current landscape.

Furthermore, having this continuous recycled VIP rewards, the recycled or atrocious cosmetics, it is really easy to skip being VIP. And I feel sad in terms of DND art, this is the best they could ever produce. There has been so many good suggestions regarding VIP rewards being thrown here and in the past, however, it seems like things just fell on deaf ears, as most in DDO. Sometimes the best recourse is just to do what's best for you and move on.

Very much feels like cancel VIP and from time to time buy double points and get 50% xp pots when they are on sale.

Because the xp bonus is the only reason I get VIP. I literally dont care about any of the other things.

The way I look at it, free stuff is free stuff, so whatever.

What does get me though is the VIP reward system doesn’t appear to do anything in terms of bringing in new VIP memberships or retaining members. Looking at the financials; DDO had a disappointing first two quarters of 2024, with a middling third quarter, showing that the system had no positive impact on DDO’s financials for that year. So if it wasn’t working why not rework it instead of double (now triple) down on it?

(2024 rebounded thanks to Myth Drannor and the introduction of everyone’s favorite — rare loot.)

It’s harder to tell the program’s impact on 2025/6, as quarterly reports have either been not good or bad enough to warrant DDO a mention, or have trended positive, but since the program has largely remained the same, I doubt it has done anything different than it did when first introduced.

Because they are doubling down all the time. No matter what. Our current times is full with entertainment, but jobs, not that much.
