Yellow to Red connection to not being able to log back into character

I've been having this sporadic issue where randomly my character will stop moving, 10 seconds later I'll get a yellow connection alert at the top of the screen, then 15 seconds later a red connection alert and then nothing for a long while until DDO will close and give an error message "Connection with DDO server has been lost" (or something to this effect). This isn't too frequent (maybe once every few hours), but I've never once had it go from yellow or red connection back to reconnecting, it closes 100% of the time.

The bigger issue is, that once this happens and I try to re-log back into the game, I cannot log back into the character I was playing for several (I think about 10+ minutes). When trying to log into that character the loading screen bar just does not move. If I close DDO and try again, I will get a "cleaning up old connection" when logging in, but then if I try the character again, the same non-loading problem happens. I can log into my other characters on my account just fine, but the character that disconnected can't be accessed until some indeterminate amount of time has passed.

Beyond annoyance of dropping out of any groups I am a part of and missing the quest XP, it also kind of makes me out to be a jerk because I randomly just time out during dungeons and I like to play in parties, often posting my own. It's also common that once I do get back in game on that character, I am also disconnected from the chat server for 15-20 minutes before that will eventually reconnect.

Oi mate! I get this too almost every day. Usually weekdays @ 3:30 AM but sometimes 3AM or 4AM. I don't lose internet. Just get Yellow, Red then DCd. It doesn't take me quite as long to log back in but when I do I am usually dead in a quest and have to cycle through my gear because death while DC'd causes augments in my gear to stop functioning.

Someone on here mentioned ISP cycling something or other but can only speculate.

Funny post asking for tech support and get a response from a guildy 😛

It's been an issue for me since the new servers launched. Sometimes when zoning into an instance after about 10 seconds of being able to do stuff like move/interact the game will go to yellow (and red if I wait around for it). Only way to fix is to restart the game. Cleaning the old connection takes anywhere from 5 seconds to several minutes.

It's kind of a nuisance.

I cannot be 100% sure but after repeated DCs yesterday I tried turning off the Razor Synapse stuff on the system tray thing this morning and havn't had a DC since.

I don't know about the yellow and red connection alert, but a while back I was getting stutters and freezes and lost connection with the chat server messages that would often result in the game client shutting down (or was it me throwing the computer across the room that cause that crash? /kidding) I set my Internet connection to use a static VPN on Surfshark and it fixed my problem immediately.

This is an old issue, but to me it seems to happen more frequently after we switched to the new servers.

For me it usually happens after zoning, e.g. going from a quest to a public zone, going from one public zone to another or the worst... when swapping zone within a quest or raid.

IMHO it seems like the functionality for network handling at dropped connection needs to be reworked by SSG.

I often run with six accouns at the same time. Usually when this situation occurrs, it's for one of the six clients that gets the network issue while everything is working just fine for the other five clients. So, it's not the network connection as such that is problematic, but that there is a glitch for one of the clients, and that the client is never ever able to reconnect.

Other modern games can handle these things without any issue. It should be possible to fix for DDO as well.

I will add that I too run multiple clients (x4) and when this happens it catastrophic to boxers as it crashes one (or more) clients and we have to redo our start-up procedure that might include more actions than just hitting the log-in button. I noticed for me, it often happens after updates... not just DDO updates but Windows updates, Surfshark updates, Keyboard, Soundcard or software updates of all varieties. So, I usually take the time to find the update and install it (or even roll back some of the Windows updates) and then make sure it's all running through a Static IP VPN.
I understand that this seems to point the finger elsewhere than DDO, but I agree with Jeronimo that DDO is the only game environment that this happens to me in and that it should be able to be fixed 'cause it never happens in Lotro, WoW, EQ2, SW KotOR, Star Trek.... I could go on but you get the picture.

I am now getting the same thing. I run a quest and will randomly lock up for a couple of minutes and then very often get a yellow, then red connection. My internet works perfectly fine when doing a speed test while this is happing or trying to browse to other websites.

This has only started happening to me in the last week, never had problems like this before.

Not sure what else to try at this point, the game is unplayable for me. This is on Thrane.

1. Tried disabling Razer Synapse
2. Tried updating graphics card driver
3. Tried editing the DDO preference file ConnectionSpeed to 10000.00
4. Tried turning on the No Sound option
5. Tried hard wired connection vs. wifi
6. Rebooted PC
7. Rebooted Modem
