Keep All Void and Elemental Finishers Please?
Don't like your Iconic's class? You can always use a Lesser Heart of Wood to turn into the Archetype of the Base Class.
They could do subraces in a way that's both meaningful and to limit racial completionist grind at the same time. They could make them have 3x past lives (jncluding the racial AP) and have them count as the base race for racial completionist (the same way archetypes count as the base class towards heroic completionist).Subraces were pointless. They are all the same work as making a new race, but without the past lives to motivate people to buy it. I only own wood elf because it was 75% off one day and I like owning everything, but I have never played one and probably never will. They can simply make more races and make everyone happy. I have no problem with a new race being similar to an old race. I don't need the appearance or even the racial tree to be drastically different. All that matters is that it adds 3 past lives and another racial AP.
And that is exactly the problem. You can already change the class, it just costs money. So people will just play something else instead.Don't like your Iconic's class? You can always use a Lesser Heart of Wood to turn into the Archetype of the Base Class.
Yes, this is the entire problem with iconics. They are essentially just new races (or really racial subtypes most of the times these days) that start you at level 15 (which is fine) but force you into a class you probably don't want to play (which is the part that needs to go).I love and hate iconics. They're an easy way to grab past lives; but I rarely want to play them with the actual class type they start with beyond that. So outside a fast past life, I often either ignore them or I'm forced to burn a +1 heart (and maybe more than that- like an alignment change and a 2nd +LR) to play them the way I want. Some races I don't play because their trees/etc. don't appeal to me, iconics however cost more than I want to spend (LRs get expensive) just to play a fun build the way I want to play it.
Archetypes are great because they add past lives very quickly (since they don't take much developer work to make). If people stopped assuming they need every past life possible and instead just viewed past lives as a buffet where you can pick and choose the ones you want, then more options would be considered positive. There are just too many people that think they are obligated to get every past life on every character and that simply isn't the case. I have not yet played a single Archetype, but I am glad they exist as they will be there to play when I am ready for them.Maybe if they stopped making Archetype crap. We know they made them for the sole purpose of boosting the store, since they didn't
use an exclusion tree IN the class to accompish exactly the same thing, but enough already with the reincarnation hamster-wheels.
I stand corrected, that is a great solution. Wasn't think about racial completionist, but having subraces work exactly like archetypes is actually a great idea. They could do subraces in a way that's both meaningful and to limit racial completionist grind at the same time. They could make them have 3x past lives (jncluding the racial AP) and have them count as the base race for racial completionist (the same way archetypes count as the base class towards heroic completionist).
Every character starts with a free Lesser Heart............And that is exactly the problem. You can already change the class, it just costs money. So people will just play something else instead.
That doesn't really solve anything for the issue of iconics having a forced level of a class. You're still stuck with the base class level. And even if they gave us a +1 heart, people TR their characters, and that would only fix 1 life out of a ton of iconic lives folks do.Every character starts with a free Lesser Heart............
Yes so what? Do you think they should hand out +1 hearts every time you TR into an iconic?A +1 Lesser Heart of Wood does Allow you to change the base class of an Iconic.
Here's How: Thread: Change your Iconic first level to something else ~ how to do it
Iconics mostly start with a bad life so you have to spend money to fix. The only thing that would make it worthwhile is Iconic completionist.YES TOLERO, WE WANT MORE ICONICS!! Plus be nice to permanently have option to do Iconics as 15 or level 1 by talking to a NPC like we got with Skulls Lantern NPC! Another suggestion too is if you loose Skull Lanterns be nice to been able to talk to the guy to get reset to level 1 without TRing cause not all of us are capable of riding the TR train.
If you are willing to give up the xp for level 15 to force yourself to level 1-15, why don't you just only take the levels as you finish the quests you want? Iconics don't actually start at 15, they start with enough experience to level to 15. I have purposely not taken 15 immediately so I could more easily run certain quests in a group that I want to run before hitting epics. That and I am just demented.YES TOLERO, WE WANT MORE ICONICS!! Ok, so you spend money to make a build you like. And...let me get this straight...you want the company that runs the game in order to earn money to make a change so you no longer spend money to play the way you want?I really like starting at 15, i really dislike being forced to use a +1 heart or god forbid alignment change that is only available in store to play them effectively. So definitely a mixed bag for me.
The topic stems from the last live stream where our dear producer seemed completely bewildered why people are not playing iconics and said that they will likely stop making new ones. This is the explanation, and if they make so little money on the current cash-grab set up that they will stop making new ones its not unreasonable to ask for a change.Ok, so you spend money to make a build you like. And...let me get this straight...you want the company that runs the game in order to earn money to make a change so you no longer spend money to play the way you want?
And you think this argument will entice them to make a change how?
I only stated what I like about iconics and what I don't like about iconics. I don't spend money that way, I stated that if you want to play (many of them) effectively, you need to and I hate that so I don't, and thus they have less value for me.Ok, so you spend money to make a build you like.
