You open a random loot chest and....

Curse Cleansing Cards are always the thing I most want to see.

As far as random loot goes, it would be good if it were less random. Imagine, for example, if every time a sceptre dropped it had the same element for everything. For example, Combusion X, Insightful Combustion Y, Fire Spell Lore Z. Since all 3 stats are fire there is a very real chance that some people would find random loot to occasionally be better than their current fire sceptre. I'm sure many of us use the level 12 caster sceptres from the Planar Eyes chain, and they might still be the best level 12 sceptres in the game, but if random loot dropped like this then it would be entirely possible to find a level 10 or 11 sceptre better than what you had been using until level 12, and a level 13 through 19 sceptre that was better than the level 12 sceptre.

Random loot is really only garbage because they put abilities on it that don't go with the other abilities.

It sure doesn't look like it was designed by a capable item creator for demanding clients. Who would make, order or buy that stuff ?

I will say if you want something crafted in this game ask the vendors, bartenders or sully. They have to be deconstructing all the junk we are selling them. No one else would buy it from them.

Useful random loot: the original rare loot grind.

Would love a pass on existing things to make them more useful, and I think that was a lot of the meat of your thread, so this might be a hijack , but:

Would also LOVE to see any chest have a smallish chance to drop ANYTHING in the game. Random stuff - shroud components, dragon scales, named loot, etc.

Given how much stuff is in the game and how small ssg makes small chances - it would hopefully just liven up chest looting (maybe make it only end chests and optional chests instead of remmie chests?)

I guess named loot could only come from the pack it’s in , because ssg is stingy like that. Although collecting a set through this method might take literally forever.

Curse Cleanser, Tomes, Rad forcefield pots/Deadly scrolls, Fire/Cold shield pots, Pale Ioun Stones, Jeweler kits...

So basically mostly ultra low random % of getting store goods and rare pots. Occasionally some double auged specific items to curse or to convert into leveling gear, but there is a *very* finite amount of those you could ever need - and those are probably unnecessary bloat we have no room to store unless you're part of the Mulers Manonymous group with severe hoarding problems.

Keen falcion of Vorpal - level 1 or 2. Any xbow with the same affixes is also nice.
Light blue border rings at level 5.
Silverflame rings at just about any level, they come in a wide range of levels and sometimes you can find a good one on auction.
On a wizard, high level scrolls to inscribe in your spellbook as there is no functionality in game to just pay some plat to a scribe and have those added to your spellbook.

I would seriously like it if Wounding V of Puncturing V or any of the other stat damages would start at that as then it would become viable in reaper (and thus the game) again.

Clickies that remove curses or apply restortion.

I still keep the mitrhal armor that I find.
Other than that, the occasional consumable like sp or hair die is nice.
Same with tomes.

I like to see a cleansing card, which I call a guild ship upgrade (after I've sold it).

I get a lot of level 9 scrolls in chests. I have an Arcane scroll collection in my shared bank that makes me wince at TR time. Can’t throw any of them out though because they’re rare.

For awhile the level 1 bolt spells weren’t buyable at the vendors, even in the portable hole, and were effectively rare. Then I realized I never used them anyway and stopped keeping them.

I'd love to see the loot actually reflect my class/race. I've never played a warforged, but I am sick to death looting blue docents. I'm not a monk and I'm tired of seeing blue outfits and handwraps. Yes I know my loot can be shared in the chest for my group, but I mainly solo now.
As other posters have said, why when looting a lvl 36 chest I get lvl 1 potions, healers kits, complete garbage. The whole loot system is outdated, and since the explosion of "rare loot" and BTC items looting has become most frustrating. Not to mention the uselessness of of end rewards from the quest giver.

Techincally you can go to options>setting and one of the first checkboxes allows you to get loot for your class only, don't know how effective it is though. Deactivated it as soon as I started playing the game almost 2 decades ago

Yes that's true and I have done that for the 12+ playing DDO

Would be cool if constraints were applied to random loot effect combos so it occurs as something someone would make on purpose.

There is a mechanic in Wheloon to randomly generate named items. I would like a chance for that in all chests, but add augment slots. (Wheloon ones lack them.) If nothing else it is sentient xp, but they should remain unbound like now.

Them I would add consumable buffs to chests that are fun and stack, like the ‘gifts’ you get in Invitation to Dinner or cookies. Nothing game breaking—just boosts to hamp, spell power, skills etc.

There was a time when random loot gen could create some great items. I still use single effect race restricted gear to this day while leveling. At some point they made RNG loot absolutely, unequivocally useless. Most effects contradict each other and the power is diluted because there are multiple (useless) effects. Just loot every chest and sell everything. The right way to select an end reward is take the seeds or the guild reknown and ignore everything else. Even slotted items are becoming a waste of time.
This is what I would like in random loot. I miss when you could pull amazing enchantments like Cosmic, Heavenly Wrath, Tempestuous, A Thousand Suns etc. It's all so boring now.
