So question, who set the precedent for the servers? Like how did we get Thrane being hardcore and toxic? To be honest most skull pushers have dedicated groups and dont necessarily care about mingling in pugs or if they do why wouldnt you welcome the help? Just curious, i like finding folks with that in depth knowledge to know where my handicap is.

I employ my casual R1 to most of everything i do so no power gamer here, just wondering how we havent even established people there yet and we have themes.

What do people consider a bad ping?

I will be dropping from 250-300ms down to 200-250ms (approx). Probably not at all noticable, but if there is no lag then it will be a massive improvement.

If latency was important Id be playing WOW with 10ms latency.

I would consider anything above 200 ms really bad and noticably impacting gameplay.

the latency is only the first layer of which you own lag is made.

I will most likely stay on Sarlona through July working on racial/iconic lifes.

I will go where the people I run with most go which is undecided at this point. I know people going to moonsea, Thayne and shadowdale.

With the ping to Cormyr, I don't really see any other option than going to Moonsea. In some ways, I'd have preferred to keep playing with the American players I've come to know. But... with a latency that high, the game simply isn't fun anymore. For me, anyway, I know others have a much high latency and still manage to play. How, I don't know, but I'm impressed.

Predictions for Oreck Server:

A.) It will end up being the mega-server.

~because of all the returners and newbs who want to try out the game in 64-bits.

B.) it will be the “cool” and “casual” server.

~because all the hardcore toxic players will be on Thrane.

C.) I bet poor lonely oreck will be the last server standing in the end.

I don't have any skin in the game on this argument as I don't know any of the guilds moving to Thrane.

My only comment is that calling out people as toxic could be considered a form of toxicity. I don't think calling people toxic is a good way to convince them to come to your preferred server - but that is just my opinion.

At the same time I think more people would benefit by moving to where people like voodu move rather than a push raiding guild because of the teaching raids, jibbers, runs etc.. that he and his guild regularly host.

In my experience less than 10% of the people capable of push raiding are interested in push raiding. That percentage only drops once people actually spend time push raiding.

Just because you can't do R1 doesn't mean the rest of the Shadowdale players can't. So don't worry, they'll leave you dying of envy there too.

We're taking the same wait and see approach. The guild I'm in is small with only 5 active players, but we recently started raiding every Saturday with the guild I was in previously and we all want to keep that going on the new server. As much as we enjoy short man raiding, it's nice to have an actual tank (no offense to our monk even though we now use the mage armor enhancement from the Machrotechnic tree get his AC to 470 from around the 400 it was) and enough players to run them at higher levels, even if we don't quite fill every time. We still shortman or join the occasional pug on weekdays though. Best of luck on whichever server you end up choosing.
