Found a nice Named item.. and this is riuning my lego pieces

I already have a full set of items to equip on my character, all made from Cannith Crafting.
I took care to combine the items perfectly, like lego pieces, to cover all bonuses I need.

Then..
I found a very nice Named item (which I can't refuse, such as Profane bonuses, etc). But this ruins everything actually. This named item takes the place of my Potency slot, but where to put potency now? And so on.. This can drive one crazy easily, have the devs thought about that? You're sending people to the asylum.

Well, you guys know what I'm talking about.

Any tips to manage Named items ruining your lego?
Should I just put everything on Augments when possible to give me more flexibility?
Any other tips or ideas?

Yeah gear tetris sometimes requires complex matrix algebra lol. Gotta find the eigenvalues on your bracers slot

You'll likely have to go down a rabbit hole that involves getting named item sets and then filling in around them with other named items. CC gear is accessible and flexible but, as you're seeing here, is too limited in what affixes are available compared to named gear

Was just talking to my friend about this,, hehe 16 pieces of equipment with how many diff stat variations? lolol

I use primarily CC items for levels 3-18, aside from a few choice named items. (I do use 5X Slavers gear at Level 8-12)
I built my crafted gear (Level 3,5,13,18,23) for a Monk Build - then tweaked it for Warlock - and made a few gear swaps to run Arti/inquisitive.
(ie. My Warlock needs acid/force spell power and CHA so I have a few alternate gear slots for that.)
I stick to those 3 basic builds on my main, and I run heroic R1-4 without any problems.

Its a bit tedious to get started, but when you consider how many times I've TR'd overall its worth the investment.

In Epics Cannith Crafted starts to lose its luster although it will get you to level 30 for an ETR running R1.
You would probably be more inclined to farm some named gear if you spend any time at cap or want to run Legendary content.

Here is a merged screenshot of my level 13 CC gear (as a warlock) with a couple of named items.

With the proliferation of heroic named gear being so great compared to crafted gear I was taken aback by users who haven't switched. I guess self-limitation is a play style.

Does the person own those expansions?

Is the person willing to spend 30 hours figuring out what equipment fits together at level X for character Y?

Is the person willing to run the quest over and over to find the necessary equipment for a set?

Will the equipment drop?

Does the person have a life?

Is the person willing to make a dozen storage characters, develop a storage scheme, make a spreadsheet to track all of it, and then spend 30 hours a week juggling inventory?

Has the person spent the last 7 years acquiring and storing equipment?

Can the person afford to blow a thousand Astral Shards on chest rerolls?

Is the person connected to a social network of people who will help?

It's ugly out there.

It seems more troublesome to level up crafting.
You'll probably have all the Named Items gathered while collecting crafting materials.

It's sufficient to have Named Items obtained through expansion packs that can be purchased cheaply during the year-end sale.

I'm just going to equip some Feywild gear at level 5, swap weapons at level 10, and switch to the Sharn set at level 15.

This ^
1 to 5, I admit I use crafting. Some legacy and some newer. Neck, chest, goggles, and named quiver.

5 - Feywild with a dab into Salt (if caster)

10 - Ravenloft with a dab into Slavers

15 - Sharn

I may drop Ravenloft once they put IoD on sale in Marketplace. That is a lot less gear Tetris than OP. And I've been freeing mules like crazy.

I can't play gear Tetris. I built a leveling set of crafted gear. Level 4, 8, 12 ect... up to 28. Makes fast and easy gear swaps. About 10 mins to swap out. All the leveing gear is storged on one alt. (y)

I was very surprised to read your post. I thought I was the only one who ran around in all Cannith Crafted gear.

Tip to manage Named Items ruining your Cannith Crafted gear tetris: Don't ever read the stats on any Named Items, just feed them to a Sentient jewel as quickly as possible.
I have several gear loadouts using cannith built around a couple of select named items... it's actually really nice

I just get aggravated at the 'can't put this on this' nonsense

Welcome to gear tetris, the eternal mini-game within DDO.

Many years ago, I used to use all Cannith Crafted gear for leveling. Then named items with set bonuses were released in Ravenloft, Feywild, Sharn, Dread and Vecna. Now I only use one Cannith Crafted item for heroic leveling: ML1 Goggles of Persuasion/True Seeing with a colorless augment slot for Master's Gift.

Hum, that's not a bad solution, actually.
I don't care if I do 10% less damage because I don't have a named item, for example. That's not a problem.

My only real issue is related to Legendary Elite spell DCs. It's not a question of doing less damage, it's a question of the game becoming unplayable if you don't reach a certain DC threshold. That's what bugs me the most.

I'd keep using the "perfected" Cannith crafted gearset until I can get a complete named set, and then only use crafted gear to fill any gaps left.

Trying to redo the crafted pieces as you collect every new named item that you'd want to use is likely gonna drive you mad. The difference between both (mostly just the set bonuses) is not big enough to justify such micromanagement, in my view. Named items from a specific expansion usually (though not always) form a full set you can get to cover most of your needs.

Once you get a complete or mostly complete set of named items, then you replace the original cannith crafted ones with it, and only craft new pieces to fill any gaps left, as you deem necessary. Eventually you'll managed to get a full set of named items from varied expansions that completely match your needs. Rince and repeat as new content and gear are released.

Cheers,
NH

This also happens when you want to change a named item for another named item. It throws off all your stats. The Tetris game with the gear is horrible.

That's why when they release a new pack with a new loot I don't even look at the loot, since I'm not going to change my gear until the next big expansion, when I change all my equipment for a new one
