Build request

Looking for a DH/DL build for the Ranger PL and haven't seen much talk of one.
Wanting to do something like DL5/DH15, TWF using DL CCs and Tempest, undecided on T5 enhancement.
How viable does that seem and would it be better to go HORC/Str or Dex based?
Any tips appreciated.

The only reason to go Dragon Lord 5 is for the tier-5s, which lock out tier-5 Tempest. IMO there's no point in going dual-wield ranger if you're not taking T5 Tempest because that's where the best stuff is.

Also if this is just a heroic PL, you don't need so many Dark Hunter levels and may be better off with 2H weapons, especially as a half-orc. E.g., Dark Hunter 12 / Dragon Lord 6 / barbarian 2 with T5 DL + level 12 DWS core for +2 crit multiplier +1 crit range. [14-20/x4 falchions, 14-20/x5 Sword of Shadow.] Barbarian splash is for Rage, +10% runspeed, Angry Arms (+20% Strikethrough), and Blood Tribute.

I just threw this together but this is what I was thinking:

If you haven't got the +2 Universal AP tome, just drop Falconry. Use whatever racial APs you have as you see fit.

EDIT: at level one, I would take Bleed the Weak, then swap it out once you have DL's Imbue. Of the Draconic options, acid is the least resisted element.

You're awesome, love your posts. Thanks for the help, this could be exactly what I need. And is very similar to the Pal PL I'm running now, Pal15/DL5 PL and it's definitely easy button. Round them up, Roar, and strikethrough/cleave them down.

Even without DL T5 though, I still think the T3 Roar CC and the T4 PermaDisplacement are pretty game breaking, especially for melees without other CC.

Pure Dark Hunter, TWF, Dex based, Tempest capstone. Take Horizon Walker for the dex trance. Primary ED Divine Crusader for Mantle and Consecraction (Cower before me). Secondary ED Shadowdancer for meld and sneak damage. Rest in Dreadnaught. Weapons, Dino Scimitar and Flow. Take feats for Improved Crit slashing and piercing. The guardbreaking CC from Flow is worth the extra feat for using different weapon types. Your primary CC is consecration so beef up your sunder with a shatter augment and keep your trance up, to max the DC. Combine parry with meld for dodge boost for temp tanking. Also hood of unrest + meld for another temp dodge boost.

I don't know what the issue is, but on my TWF ranger I could never get the guardbreaking to work, at least not in any helpful form. It was as if something else (a feat, gear, etc) on me just broke it immediately, and I mean right away. It's one of my very long term projects to figure out just what I had that ruins it.

It only works when you crit. Improved crit range is 15-20. I’ve been using this build to run R10s and the guardbreaking procs often. I will typically hit haste boost (I have 9), jump into a mob, hit consecrate for 4s cower, rip through most of the stunned mob and then clean up any stragglers with some guardbreaking. I find backing away and swinging works well to keep your distance. Flow and Dino scimitar have fairly good reach and the guardbreaking will provide enough to give you time to finish cleaning up. Guardbreaking works on most of the reapers as well. Try to get as much double strike as possible. I have 100%, but also triple everything past lives. Even with less past live the build should be fairly effective up to mid skulls.
